Knowledge resource and information system/technology (IS/IT) capability have been considered to improve firm performance, however there is still a gap regarding the sustainability of supply chain to face and recover from disruption (e.g., COVID-19). Questionnaire-based surveys was adopted and received feedback from sixty (160) Indonesian companies or about 28.07% of response rate. © 1973-2011 IEEE.

To emulate human emotions in robots, the mathematical representation of emotion is important for each component of affective computing, such as emotion recognition, generation, and expression. In a method that learns DNN from unimodality and represents emotions by vectors of continuous values (Emotional Space), the acquired Emotional Space is likely to depend on the modality, and considering the number of dimensions of Emotional Space is necessary. In this study, we aim at the acquisition of modality independent Emotional Space. We propose a method of acquiring Emotional Space by integrating multimodalities on a DNN and combining the emotion recognition task and unification task of Emotional Space of each modality. Through the experiments with audio-visual data, we confirmed in various dimensions of Emotional Space that there are differences in Emotional Space acquired from unimodality, and the proposed method can acquire a modality independent Emotional Space. We also investigated the compatibility of the recognition and the unification score by changing the number of dimensions of Emotional Space. Finally, we indicate the proposed method can acquire sufficient Emotional Space with a small number of dimensions, such as five or six dimensions, under this paper's experimental conditions. © 2020 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

The nuclear power industry has historically used paper-based procedures, but a shift towards computer-based procedures (CBPs) has the potential to reduce human errors, alleviate mental workload, and improve work performance. Twenty-seven participants were randomly assigned to one of three CBP types using the Rancor Microworld Simulator, and each performed two different types of operational scenarios (startup and loss of feedwater). The three CBP types varied in levels of digitalization. It was hypothesized that there would be less favorable impressions of the most basic procedures, and that these would demonstrate lower usability than types with greater digitalization. Overall, our predictions were partially supported with some interesting caveats, specifically with some performance benefits for CBPs that provided indicators but not embedded controls. We discuss our findings in terms of optimal levels of digitalization/automation within nuclear operations and suggest pathways for future directions.

Patient-specific left ventricle (LV) myocardial models have the potential to be used in a variety of clinical scenarios for improved diagnosis and treatment plans. Cine cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging provides high resolution images to reconstruct patient-specific geometric models of the LV myocardium. With the advent of deep learning, accurate segmentation of cardiac chambers from cine cardiac MR images and unsupervised learning for image registration for cardiac motion estimation on a large number of image datasets is attainable. Here, we propose a deep leaning-based framework for the development of patient-specific geometric models of LV myocardium from cine cardiac MR images, using the Automated Cardiac Diagnosis Challenge (ACDC) dataset. We use the deformation field estimated from the VoxelMorph-based convolutional neural network (CNN) to propagate the isosurface mesh and volume mesh of the end-diastole (ED) frame to the subsequent frames of the cardiac cycle. We assess the CNN-based propagated models against segmented models at each cardiac phase, as well as models propagated using another traditional nonrigid image registration technique. Additionally, we generate dynamic LV myocardial volume meshes at all phases of the cardiac cycle using the log barrier-based mesh warping (LBWARP) method and compare them with the CNN-propagated volume meshes. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, we propose a new optimization-based method for high-order mesh generation. Our proposed method is based on affine combinations of nodal positions. For each interior node in the high-order straight-sided mesh, a set of weights that relates the node to its neighbors is calculated. After the high-order boundary nodes are curved to conform with the true boundary, the interior nodes are moved based on the generated weights and the new boundary positions. We present results from applying our method to several aerospace engineering geometries in 2D and 3D which demonstrate the capabilities of our method. © 2020, The Author(s).

N4-methylcytosine (4mC) is a modified form of cytosine found in DNA, contributing to epigenetic regulation. It exists in various genomes, including the Rosaceae family encompassing significant fruit crops like apples, cherries, and roses. Previous investigations have examined the distribution and functional implications of 4mC sites within the Rosaceae genome, focusing on their potential roles in gene expression regulation, environmental adaptation, and evolution. This research aims to improve the accuracy of predicting 4mC sites within the genome of Fragaria vesca, a Rosaceae plant species. Building upon the original 4mc-w2vec method, which combines word embedding processing and a convolutional neural network (CNN), we have incorporated additional feature encoding techniques and leveraged pre-trained natural language processing (NLP) models with different deep learning architectures including different forms of CNN, recurrent neural networks (RNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). Our assessments have shown that the best model is derived from a CNN model using fastText encoding. This model demonstrates enhanced performance, achieving a sensitivity of 0.909, specificity of 0.77, and accuracy of 0.879 on an independent dataset. Furthermore, our model surpasses previously published works on the same dataset, thus showcasing its superior predictive capabilities. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Computational modeling and simulation of real-world problems, e.g., various applications in the automotive, aerospace, and biomedical industries, often involve geometric objects which are bounded by curved surfaces. The geometric modeling of such objects can be performed via high-order meshes. Such a mesh, when paired with a high-order partial differential equation (PDE) solver, can realize more accurate solution results with a decreased number of mesh elements (in comparison to a low-order mesh). There are several types of high-order mesh generation approaches, such as direct methods, a posteriori methods, and isogeometric analysis (IGA)-based spline modeling approaches. In this paper, we propose a direct, high-order, curvilinear tetrahedral mesh generation method using an advancing front technique. After generating the mesh, we apply mesh optimization to improve the quality and to take advantage of the degrees of freedom available in the initially straight-sided quadratic elements. Our method aims to generate high-quality tetrahedral mesh elements from various types of boundary representations including the cases where no computer-aided design files are available. Such a method is essential, for example, for generating meshes for various biomedical models where the boundary representation is obtained from medical images instead of CAD files. We present several numerical examples of second-order tetrahedral meshes generated using our method based on input triangular surface meshes. © 2021 held by the authors of the individual papers.

Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned.

A 5G ultra dense network architecture makes use of a high density of micro cell base stations to provide increased coverage, capacity, and performance for 5G communication systems. This is accomplished by the utilization of a very densely packed network. A 5G ultradense network is another name for this particular category of network. Ultradense networks are built to overcome the limitations of ordinary cellular networks. This is accomplished by increasing the number of base stations that are located inside a given area. This is performed by reducing the coverage area provided by each base station, which ultimately leads to an increase in the capacity of the entire network. The maximum data rate or capacity that may be obtained through a certain wireless channel is referred to as the “channel capacity” in a 5G ultradense network, when the phrase “channel capacity” is used. One possibility is that this represents the maximum quantity of data that can be transmitted across the channel. These criteria, which represent the capabilities of the channel, can be used to evaluate the performance of channels and equipment on 5G networks. This article presents for further research a model for improving the channel capacity of the 5G ultradense network. The model can be found at the end of the article. This change will result in an increase in both the usefulness of the channel and the amount of bandwidth that it consumes; both of these aspects will improve. The fact that it uses a very small quantity of energy and power in compared to other methods is the major trait that sets it apart from other methods. This technology is superior to others in terms of both the amount of data it can communicate and the amount of electricity it consumes in the process.

Semantic communication technologies enable wireless edge devices to communicate effectively by transmitting semantic meaning of data. Edge components, such as vehicles in next-generation intelligent transport systems, use well-trained semantic models to encode and decode semantic information extracted from raw and sensor data. However, the limitation in computing resources makes it difficult to support the training process of accurate semantic models on edge devices. As such, edge devices can buy the pretrained semantic models from semantic model providers, which is called "semantic model trading". Upon collecting semantic information with the semantic models, the edge devices can then sell the extracted semantic information, e.g., information about urban road conditions or traffic signs, to the interested buyers for profit, which is called "semantic information trading". To facilitate both types of the trades, effective incentive mechanisms should be designed. Thus, in this paper, we propose a hierarchical trading system to support both semantic model trading and semantic information trading jointly. The proposed incentive mechanism helps to maximize the revenue of semantic model providers in the semantic model trading, and effectively incentivizes model providers to participate in the development of semantic communication systems. For semantic information trading, our designed auction approach can support the trading between multiple semantic information sellers and buyers, while ensuring individual rationality, incentive compatibility, and budget balance, and moreover, allowing them achieve higher utilities than the baseline method.
