The concept of Digital Twin has been widely used by researchers to represent physical entities in computer-generated reality in the metaverse. In this research, a novel concept of 'Mobile Twin' is coined. Mobile Twin serves as a replica of a mobile device in the virtual environment enabling communication. The purpose of introducing Mobile Twin in the metaverse is to bring mobility and benefits similar to tangible mobile devices while eliminating the need for individual energy sources, storage limitations, resource usage, and efficiency. The true benefits of a mobile twin can be achieved with an architecture where computing nodes are decentralized, data processing is near the network's edge with faster response times and reduced latency. For this purpose, the mobile twin-based applications of metaverse are built over edge computing-based network architecture. This idea introduced the aspect of 'Revolutionary Ultra-low latency (RULL)' in the metaverse. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite the significance of Sign Language education, access to resources with immediate feedback remains a challenge. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of an online learning tool offering real-time video feedback, accessible via basic laptops. Leveraging the capabilities of Google’s Media Pipe software and the project’s robust logic, the prototype aims to provide learners with immediate and accurate feedback, addressing the challenge of access to effective resources for American Sign Language (ASL) education. Focusing on the ASL alphabet, computer-vision based learning tools for static and dynamic signs will be analyzed to explore the tool’s capabilities and limitations.

Interference is a critical factor that degrades wireless network performance. In IEEE 802.11 wireless broadcast networks, hidden terminals and concurrent transmissions are the primary sources of interference due to the carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) mechanism. Therefore, analyzing the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) distribution is essential for evaluating network performance, whose derivation relates to the transmission probabilities of hidden terminals and concurrent transmissions. In this study, we utilize the existing semi-markov process (SMP) model to calculate these transmission probabilities. Subsequently, we employ the Laplace transform to analyze the SINR distribution in IEEE 802.11 broadcast ad-hoc networks on highways. Based on the derived SINR distribution, we further evaluate the reliability and capacity. This approach can be readily extended to two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) scenarios by employing d-dimensional (1 ≤ d ≤ 3, dD) point process. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves high accuracy under small to medium interference ranges. Additionally, the analysis remains highly accurate for receivers within 70 meters, even in scenarios with large interference ranges. While the rise of electric vehicles reflects a push for clean energy as envisioned by international agreements like the Paris Agreement, wireless charging's convenience can overcome limitations and hasten their adoption, making it a strategic step alongside regulations such Permenhub No. 15/2022 and SDG 9 'Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure' for cleaner air and sustainable transportation. The aim is to convert the high frequency AC voltage from the coupling capacitor into a stable DC voltage. Further increase the system sensitivity to the load variations, by designing a MOSFET based active rectifier. By changing load parameters, the accuracy of PFC adaptation to the battery State of Charge (SOC) obtained is at 98% with 2% tolerance for errors. It is concluded that the research is said to be successful because it has met the parameters of general research hypothesis where the system is able to convert high frequency AC voltage into a stable DC voltage. © 2024 IEEE.

Recent work has proven the effort of researchers to integrate small sensors and a cloud environment, delivering the Internet of Things (IoT). Sensors as a service are one of the leading research concerns in this context. Nevertheless, security is becoming one of the most significant attributes of the IoT as sensors become more human-independent and are being extensively used to monitor human lives. That way, IoT brings many key security challenges that need attention, some of which we address in this position paper. We present a cloud-based infrastructure that can deliver sensors and actuators as a service, providing secure communication between them and the control nodes on which IoT applications rely while implementing Big Data algorithms. For mapping our proposal, two scenarios related to Health Assistance are discussed, considering secure communications in a sensor network. In conclusion, we propose a scope for future research in this field considering digital twin concepts. Since domains exploiting IoT technologies can benefit from adopting Digital Twin, our goal is to evolve a virtual sensor and actuator system into this technology. © 2023 IEEE.

We present a high-accuracy 3D facial reconstruction system with the following features: real-time 3D facial reconstruction using exposure synchronization multi-camera, feature alignment to quantify facial differences, a software system based on a naked eye 3D display, and medical records for a 3D face database. The proposed system is novel and practical, and the algorithm and the hardware/software architecture improve the current non-quantitative communication status in medical aesthetics. The system achieves preoperative expectations, real-time recording and feedback during surgery, and postoperative tracking analysis, thus making doctor-patient communication more efficient. The facial data database records personal and quantitative beauty data and its changes, providing accurate medical and aesthetic treatment analysis for individuals. In addition, the collected data of different genders, ages, injection sites, and dosages contribute to the development of more accurate medical materials. With artificial intelligence and cloud architecture, we provide reliable data for medical aesthetics customers, helping them understand their medical aesthetic needs. Doctors also provide stable medical care quality to consumers through cloud data, and medical aesthetic consultants do not need to exaggerate medical effects excessively. They can inform customers of specific differences before and after surgery through precise data and provide visual communication and customer expansion to improve consultation conversion rates. © 2023 IEEE.

This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreography that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m physical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreographic positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice. © 2024 IEEE.

According to the trend of worldwide car sales have grown up, this cause may increase accidents on the road due to human error. The self-driverless car has been developed to solve this problem. One task of the self-driverless car is traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR), which will help drivers notify the traffic sign installed on the road in advance. Taiwan roads have specific traffic signs, and no Taiwan traffic sign public dataset is available. In this paper, our proposed object detection method was experimentally performed using YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models on three different datasets, as Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100k), the self-created Taiwan traffic sign (TWTS), and the hybrid dataset, which combine the traffic scenes between TT100k and TWTS dataset. The output results from each dataset and each model, which is trained on the same parameter, will be compared to validate the proposed method. The experiment results' comparison of the hybrid dataset between YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models display the results of the mAP@.5 is about 65% and 76.2%, respectively, which means the performance of the YOLOv8s is higher than the YOLOv5s6 when using hybrid dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

The escalating visibility of secure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerabilities in API security, as indicated in the compilation of OWASP Top 10 API Security Risks, highlights a noteworthy peril to sensitive data. This study explores IDOR vulnerabilities found within Android APIs, intending to clarify their inception while evaluating their implications for application security. This study combined the qualitative and quantitative approaches. Insights were obtained from an actual penetration test on an Android app into the primary reasons for IDOR vulnerabilities, underscoring insufficient input validation and weak authorization methods. We stress the frequent occurrence of IDOR vulnerabilities in the OWASP Top 10 API vulnerability list, highlighting the necessity to prioritize them in security evaluations. There are mitigation recommendations available for developers, which recognize its limitations involving a possibly small and homogeneous selection of tested Android applications, the testing environment that could cause some inaccuracies, and the impact of time constraints. Additionally, the study noted insufficient threat modeling and root cause analysis, affecting its generalizability and real-world relevance. However, comprehending and controlling IDOR dangers can enhance Android API security, protect user data, and bolster application resilience. © 2023 IEEE.

Pupillometry measures pupil size, and several open-source algorithms are available to analyse pupillometry data. However, only a few studies compared these algorithms’ accuracy and computational resources. This study aims to compare the accuracy of computer vision-based algorithms (Swirski, Starburst, PuRe, ElSe, ExCuSe algorithms) and the machine learning algorithm, DeepLabCut, to the double-blinded human examiners (gold-standard). Training of DeepLabCut with different architectures and a variable number of markers (2-9 markers) was done on an open-source dataset. The duration of training was statistically longer for the ResNet152 model compared to the MobileNet model. The pupil diameters in computer vision-based software such as PuRe, Starburst, and Swirski were statistically different from human measurements. MobileNet 2 and 3 marker models were the closest to the human measurements. In conclusion, this work highlights the efficiency of lower marker models based on MobileNet architecture in DeepLabCut, which consumes fewer computational resources and is more accurate. © 2024 Institute of Information technology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences - SGGW.
