Real-time, guaranteed safe trajectory planning is vital for navigation in unknown environments. However, real-time navigation algorithms typically sacrifice robustness for computation speed. Alternatively, provably safe trajectory planning tends to be too computationally intensive for real-time replanning. We propose FaSTrack, Fast and Safe Tracking, a framework that achieves both real-time replanning and guaranteed safety. In this framework, real-time computation is achieved by allowing any trajectory planner to use a simplified planning model of the system. The plan is tracked by the system, represented by a more realistic, higher dimensional tracking model. We precompute the tracking error bound (TEB) due to mismatch between the two models and due to external disturbances. We also obtain the corresponding tracking controller used to stay within the TEB. The precomputation does not require prior knowledge of the environment. We demonstrate FaSTrack using Hamilton-Jacobi reachability for precomputation and three different real-time trajectory planners with three different tracking-planning model pairs. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Diverse techniques of feature extraction are carefully crafted by researchers in the domain of content based image classification for improved categorization of image data. These are handcrafted techniques of descriptor definition which have mostly emphasized in representing a particular feature of the query image. Recent advancements in deep neural networks have enabled extraction of features in automated manner without any human intervention. The process considers multiple dimensions of image properties in designing content based descriptors. However, deep features have shown limitations for generalization of feature vectors when number of training instances are small. The pre-trained CNN networks have also revealed limitations in generalization of extracted features from smaller datasets. This work has attempted to address this issue by designing fusion based architecture. In the process, the authors have experimented with features extracted with individual techniques comprising of handcrafted extraction and automated neural network based extraction from a small dataset. The process of feature extraction is carried out on an imbalanced dataset for which the classification evaluation is done with F1 Score. The experimental process has revealed better feature generalization with enhanced classification performances by application of early fusion of extracted features compared to that of features extracted with single techniques. © 2020 IEEE.

Negative photo conductivity triggered with visible light in wide bandgap oxide-based optoelectronic crossbar memristive array for photograph sensing and neuromorphic computing applications

Photoresponsivity studies of wide-bandgap oxide-based devices have emerged as a vibrant and popular research area. Researchers have explored various material systems in their quest to develop devices capable of responding to illumination. In this study, we engineered a mature wide-bandgap oxide-based bilayer heterostructure synaptic memristor to emulate the human brain for applications in neuromorphic computing and photograph sensing. The device exhibits advanced electric and electrophotonic synaptic functions, such as long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), and paired-pulse facilitation (PPF), by applying successive electric and photonic pulses. Moreover, the device exhibits exceptional electrical SET and photonic RESET endurance, maintaining its stability for a minimum of 1200 cycles without any degradation. Density functional theory calculations of the band structures provide insights into the conduction mechanism of the device. Based on this memristor array, we developed an autoencoder and convolutional neural network for noise reduction and image recognition tasks, which achieves a peak signal-to-noise ratio of 562 and high accuracy of 84.23%, while consuming lower energy by four orders of magnitude compared with the Tesla P40 GPU. This groundbreaking research not only opens doors for the integration of our device into image processing but also represents a significant advancement in the realm of in-memory computing and photograph-sensing features in a single cell.

We introduce an effective surface-doping strategy for CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) by examining the size-dependency of the doping behavior. A CdSe NC thin-film transistor (TFT) is fabricated via a doping process with InCl3 treatment followed by an annealing process. Spectroscopic and electronic device characterization reveal that smaller NCs are more effectively doped than larger NCs at all annealing temperatures. This is attributed to the larger specific surface area, where the dopant can be more readily coordinated. The degenerate behavior of a 3.3-nm CdSe-NC TFT appears at a lower temperature than that of larger NC TFTs. We achieve a high electron mobility and on-to-off current ratio of 1.79 cm2/Vs and 5.2 × 105, respectively, in a low-temperature annealing process (150 °C) with 3.3-nm CdSe NCs. This facilitates the fabrication of a flexible CdSe-NC TFT, which is demonstrated on a polyethylene terephthalate substrate with an Al2O3 dielectric layer using atomic layer deposition. The flexible 3.3-nm CdSe-NC TFT is successfully fabricated even at 150 °C, with a high on-to-off current ratio and low hysteresis at a low operation voltage, which is impossible for larger CdSe-NC TFTs. © 2022, The Authors. The skin effect, where bulk modes collapse into boundary modes, is a key phenomenon in topological non-Hermitian systems, has been predominantly studied in spinless systems. Recent studies illustrate the magnetic suppression of the first-order skin effect while ignoring spin. However, the physical significance of a magnetic field in non-Hermitian skin effect with spin remains elusive. Here, we systematically explore non-Hermitian spinful systems based on generalized Hatano-Nelson models with SU(2) gauge potential fields. In an open one-dimensional lattice, the spin-up and spin-down states can be uniquely separated and localized at the two boundaries without magnetic field. When an external magnetic field is applied, the skin effect exhibits a smooth transition from bidirectional to unidirectional. Remarkably, we demonstrate that the first-order skin effect can be anomalously induced by a magnetic field in a topologically trivial non-Hermitian spinful system without any skin effect at zero field. The direction of such magnetically induced skin modes can be controlled by simply changing the amplitude and polarity of the magnetic field. In addition, we demonstrate a transition between non-Bloch PT and anti-PT symmetries in the system, and uncover the spin-dependent mechanism of non-Bloch PT symmetry. Our results pave the way for the investigation of non-Hermitian skin effect with spin degrees of freedom. © 2024, CC BY.

Antigen-specific T cells play an essential role in immunoregulation and many diseases such as cancer. Characterizing the T cell receptor (TCR) sequences that encode T cell specificity is critical for elucidating the antigenic determinants of immunological diseases and designing therapeutic remedies. However, methods of obtaining single-cell TCR sequencing data are labor and cost intensive, typically requiring both cell sorting and full length single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq). New high-throughput 3' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq methods can simplify and scale this process;however, they do not routinely capture TCR sequences during library preparation and sequencing. While 5' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq methods can be used to examine TCR repertoire at single-cell resolution, doing so requires specialized reagents which cannot be applied to samples previously processed using 3' cell-barcoding methods. Here, we outline a method for sequencing TCRα and TCRβ transcripts from samples already processed using 3' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq platforms, ensuring TCR recovery at a single-cell resolution. In short, a fraction of the 3' barcoded whole transcriptome amplification (WTA) product typically used to generate a massively parallel 3' scRNA-seq library is enriched for TCR transcripts using biotinylated probes, and further amplified using the same universal primer sequence from WTA. Primer extension using TCR V-region primers and targeted PCR amplification using a second universal primer results in a 3' barcoded single-cell CDR3-enriched library that can be sequenced with custom sequencing primers. Coupled with 3' scRNA-seq of the same WTA, this method enables simultaneous analysis of single-cell transcriptomes and TCR sequences which can help interpret inherent heterogeneity among antigen-specific T cells and salient disease biology. The method presented here can also be adapted readily to enrich and sequence other transcripts of interest from both 3' and 5' barcoded scRNA-seq

Isobaric labeling relative quantitation is one of the dominating proteomic quantitation technologies. Traditional quantitation pipelines for isobaric-labeled mass spectrometry data are based on sequence database searching. In this study, we present a novel quantitation pipeline that integrates sequence database searching, spectral library searching, and a feature-based peptide-spectrum-match (PSM) filter using various spectral features for filtering. The combined database and spectral library searching results in larger quantitation coverage, and the filter removes PSMs with larger quantitation errors, retaining those with higher quantitation accuracy. Quantitation results show that the proposed pipeline can improve the overall quantitation accuracy at the PSM and protein levels. To our knowledge, this is the first study that utilizes spectral library searching to improve isobaric labeling-based quantitation. For users to conveniently perform the proposed pipeline, we have implemented the feature-based filter being executable on both Windows and Linux platforms;its executable files, user manual, and sample data sets are freely available at https://***/comics/Software_*** . Furthermore, with the developed filter, the proposed pipeline is fully compatible with the Trans-Proteomic Pipeline. © 2023, Springer Nature Limited.

Quantum Logic Enhanced Sensing in Solid-State Spin Ensembles

We demonstrate quantum logic enhanced sensitivity for a macroscopic ensemble of solid-state, hybrid two-qubit sensors. We achieve over a factor of 30 improvement in the single-shot signal-to-noise ratio, translating to an ac magnetic field sensitivity enhancement exceeding an order of magnitude for time-averaged measurements. Using the electronic spins of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond as sensors, we leverage the on-site nitrogen nuclear spins of the NV centers as memory qubits, in combination with homogeneous and stable bias and control fields, ensuring that all of the ∼109 two-qubit sensors are sufficiently identical to permit global control of the NV ensemble spin states. We find quantum logic sensitivity enhancement for multiple measurement protocols with varying optimal sensing intervals, including XY8 and DROID-60 dynamical decoupling, as well as correlation spectroscopy, using an applied ac magnetic field signal. The results are independent of the nature of the target signal and broadly applicable to measurements using NV centers and other solid-state spin ensembles. This work provides a benchmark for macroscopic ensembles of quantum sensors that employ quantum logic or quantum error correction algorithms for enhanced sensitivity.

Indonesia meets the needs of 50% of the world's palm oil needs. Sources of Indonesian palm oil, 34 % are produced by independent smallholders. The lack of governance of independent smallholders leads to low productivity of their crops. Global market demands for palm oil derivative sources become an obligation to compete. The development of blockchain technology that favors traceability and transparency is applied in the supply agriculture sector, and this is an opportunity for how blockchain technology can help the palm oil supply chain become transparent and can find its source. This research uses the system development life cycle (SDLC) method. And business process model and notation in business model design. The results of the design of the FFB sale and purchase transaction system with blockchain technology have succeeded in connecting farmer transactions as FFB providers with traders and PKS as FFB buyers. Every transaction sent by the farmer will be locked by a hash, as immunity makes the data sent immutable. The system can display the traceability of transactions while maintaining the integrity of member information.

Hemodynamics, the study of blood flow and circulatory forces, is fundamental for assessing cardiovascular health, disease states, and therapeutic outcomes. Here, we introduce a skin-conformable organic optoelectronic thin-film patch (ePatch) designed to simultaneously capture electrocardiography (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) signals as a single hybrid signal, named the electrocardio-photoplethysmogram (EC-PPG). The ePatch integrates an organic electrochemical transistor (OECT), an organic photodiode, surface-mounted light-emitting diodes, and electrochemical electrodes on a flexible, skin-conforming substrate. By training deep learning models on the hybrid EC-PPG data, we achieved accurate arterial blood pressure estimations, with mean errors of just 1.69 mmHg for systolic and 0.89 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure, outperforming traditional predictions that rely on individual physiological signals as inputs. Our findings underscore the potential of EC-PPG as a compound hemodynamic signal for AI-driven vital sign monitoring and integrated, solution-processable soft electronics for clinical and point-of-care applications. © 2025 The Authors
