Smart Grid Energy Management (SGEM) denotes the function of optimizing energy flow in the grid while enhancing grid efficiency and stability. One major issue is that increased integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) may add a layer of complexity to EM, which may, in turn, reduce the reliability and stability of the grid. Keeping such challenges in mind, this paper proposes the Osprey Optimization Algorithm (OOA) on its part to enhance SGEM through various facets of load balancing and energy distribution. The objective of this method is to minimize the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), enhancing the precision of energy predictions and optimizing grid performance. The OOA optimizes energy distribution in micro grids, improving efficiency and reducing power losses. The performance of the suggested OOA method is assessed by contrasting it with other optimization approaches that are currently in use, including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Multi Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA), Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), and Multi Objective Wind Driven Optimization (MOWDO). The OOA method is implemented on the MATLAB platform. The outcomes show that the proposed OOA method provides superior performance in minimizing MAPE, achieving the lowest MAPE value of 0.28%, indicating its enhanced accuracy in energy demand forecasting and optimization.

Purpose: Circulating tumor cell separation and analysis have played a critical role in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. In this work, we aim to design and investigate a novel biochip that integrates dielectrophoresis, microfluidic technology to separate circulating tumor cells from blood cells. To create a dielectrophoresis-induced non-uniform electric field, a facing-electrode design was proposed and utilized, in which a slanted electrode array and a simple rectangular ground electrode are placed parallel on the top and bottom parts of the microfluidic channel, respectively. This design can reduce the particle position dependence in the microchannel and the complexity of the microfabrication process. Methods: The separation process, efficiency, and optimization of the proposed device were numerically investigated using the finite element method. Parametric research was conducted to comprehensively examine the impact of various operating and design factors on the cell movement and trajectories in the microfluidic device. Results: The results indicated the potential of the proposed biochip to ensure cancer cell separation from blood cells with high efficiency, high purity in a label-free, non-invasive, easy integration, and low-cost manner. Under the optimal conditions, the separation efficiency reached 92%, 88%, and 96% for human colon cancer cells (HT-29), red blood cells, and white blood cells, respectively. Conclusions: In this study, a novel DEP-based microfluidic chip was proposed to separate HT-29 tumor cells from blood cells and numerically investigated to verify the performance of the biochip design. Our findings could provide a foundation for further theoretical and practical investigations. The proposed system can separate cancer cells from red blood cells and white blood cells as well as offers numerous advantages, such as compact size, low voltage, high efficiency, non-invasiveness, and label-free nature. As the global economy rapidly develops, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions have increased annually, prompting countries to strive for carbon neutrality by 2050. Accurate wind power forecasting can aid power system dispatch departments to obtain wind farms' output and improve the power system's new energy absorption capacity by coordinating multiple power generation resources. To this end, this study proposes a novel method for wind power forecasting: the Generative Adversarial Network method-based Deep Q Neural Network (GDQN). Wind power is a nonlinear model with random characteristics like dynamics and uncertainty. The GDQN generates wind power data similar to historical wind power data, solving the problem of insufficient wind power data samples by developing adversarial networks. The deep Q-learning network is then utilized to predict future wind power data. The experimental results based on the actual test of the total power generated by all wind turbines in a complete wind farm indicate that the proposed GDQN method can significantly reduce the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE %) of wind power forecasting, as compared to other commonly used methods in wind power forecasting. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Frequency-bin qubits possess unique synergies with wavelength-multiplexed lightwave communications, suggesting valuable opportunities for quantum networking with the existing fiber-optic infrastructure. Although the coherent manipulation of frequency-bin states requires highly controllable multi-spectral-mode interference, the quantum frequency processor (QFP) provides a scalable path for gate synthesis leveraging standard telecom components. Here we summarize the state of the art in experimental QFP characterization. Distinguishing between physically motivated "open box" approaches that treat the QFP as a multiport interferometer, and "black box" approaches that view the QFP as a general quantum operation, we highlight the assumptions and results of multiple techniques, including quantum process tomography of a tunable beamsplitter—to our knowledge the first full process tomography of any frequency-bin operation. Our findings should inform future characterization efforts as the QFP increasingly moves beyond proof-of-principle tabletop demonstrations toward integrated devices and deployed quantum networking experiments. © 2023, CC BY.

Enhancing Quantum State Reconstruction with Structured Classical Shadows

Quantum state tomography (QST) remains the prevailing method for benchmarking and verifying quantum devices;however, its application to large quantum systems is rendered impractical due to the exponential growth in both the required number of total state copies and classical computational resources. Recently, the classical shadow (CS) method has been introduced as a more computationally efficient alternative, capable of accurately predicting key quantum state properties. Despite its advantages, a critical question remains as to whether the CS method can be extended to perform QST with guaranteed performance. In this paper, we address this challenge by introducing a projected classical shadow (PCS) method with guaranteed performance for QST based on Haar-random projective measurements. PCS extends the standard CS method by incorporating a projection step onto the target subspace. For a general quantum state consisting of n qubits, our method requires a minimum of O(4n) total state copies to achieve a bounded recovery error in the Frobenius norm between the reconstructed and true density matrices, reducing to O(2nr) for states of rank r n—meeting information-theoretic optimal bounds in both cases. For matrix product operator states, we demonstrate that the PCS method can recover the ground-truth state with O(n2) total state copies, improving upon the previously established Haar-random bound of O(n3). Social media is a growing field, mostly everyone is availing the benefits of it. It seems that overuse of this technology may cripple academic standards of our next generations. Nevertheless research studies in this direction is limited, and recent information systems scholars has warranted more research in this direction. The motive of this study is to explore how excessive social media use affects students' academic performance and come up with a suggestion to reduce social media usage and increase educational learning of an individual. Using primary data collected from Pakistani university students, 265 entries were analyzed using SPSS tool. Findings suggest that usage of social networking sites has a significant result on undue use of social media. Furthermore, results also indicated that unwarranted use of social media has a detrimental effect on learning performance. Results also supported the idea that student technology self-efficacy diminishes the undesirable association between excessive social media use and academic performance.

A Hybrid Parallel Decomposition Algorithm for the Last-Mile Optimization Problem: The Case of Ocado technology

This paper studies a last-mile optimization problem faced by the world's largest online-only grocery retailer. The studied routing problem is modeled as a very large-scale dynamic multi-depot vehicle routing problem with time windows, where the input is updated frequently during the optimization phase. To optimize a set of vehicle routes, we present an enhanced local search-based simulated annealing algorithm combined with a very large neighborhood search algorithm. To dynamically minimize the number of routes, we present a new strategy that does not explicitly reduce the number of routes, but dynamically adjusts the number of customers per route. Experimental results show that when the proposed algorithm is applied to solve multiple-depot cases, the results are better than solving several single-depot cases using the current optimizer. The results also highlight that the proposed approach saves the use of several to tens of vehicles and leads to millions of dollars of estimated profit increases. © 2023, The Authors. The computer vision techniques and object detection research are widely progressive toward the decision strategy for the human's improvement in justifying the daily operation duly carried with the precision judgment in the identification for the object and make it in the use of the work case. The significant challenges faced by the video analytics and technicians are the camera alignment setup and the image quality affected due to the environmental factor like obstacles with darkness, high intensity, occlusion, and other issues. The issues related to the tracking occurrence in conditional cases and the solutions are addressed in the proposed work. An improved technique based on the YOLOv5 Model using an adaptive Kalman filter to track an object in real-time and estimate the labels in the performing classification stage is proposed. The model inference as the performance depends on the model accuracy rates and the time taken to detect the object. The proposed methods using mixed precision for the processor selection and parallel distribution of the features to the inference model delivered incremental results. In the attempt, we evaluated results for the training model accuracy and in experimenting we achieved 97.6% validation result and testing on the real-time video frame with 95.4 % in 58 frames per second on the surveillance database. The model performed on the high-resolution video based with throughput of 14.8 and inference 48 FPS for 1080p resolution frame. The research describes the tracking occurrence issue and the solution for processing the challenges in conditional cases. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Palladium is the most prominent material in both scientific and industrial research on gas storage,purification,detection,and catalysis due to its unique properties as a catalyst and hydrogen *** the dynamic optical phenomena of palladium reacting with hydrogen,transduction of the gas-matter reaction into light-matter interaction is attempted to visualize the dynamic surface chemistry and reaction *** simple geometry of the metal-dielectric-metal structure,Fabry-Perot etalon,is employed for a colorimetric reactor,to display the catalytic reaction of the exposed gas via water-film/bubble formation at the dielectric/palladium *** adsorption/desorption behavior and catalytic reaction of hydrogen and oxygen on the palladium surface display highly repeatable and dramatic color changes based on two distinct water formation trends:the foggy effect by water bubbles and the whiteout effect by water film *** and experiments demonstrate the robustness of the proposed Fabry-Perot etalon as an excellent platform for monitoring the opto-physical phenomena driven by heterogeneous catalysis.

The open radio access network (RAN) aims to bring openness and intelligence to the traditional closed and proprietary RAN technology and offer flexibility, performance improvement, and cost-efficiency in the RAN’s deployment and operation. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of the Open RAN development. We briefly summarize the RAN evolution history and the state-of-the-art technologies applied to Open RAN. The Open RAN-related projects, activities, and standardization is then discussed. We then summarize the challenges and future research directions required to support the Open RAN. Finally, we discuss some solutions to tackle these issues from the open source perspective. © 2024 by the authors.
