Neural network based epileptic EEG detection and classification

Timely diagnosis is important for saving the life of epileptic patients. In past few years, a lot of treatments are available for epilepsy. These treatments require use of anti-seizure drugs but are not effective in controlling frequency of seizure. There is need of removal of an affected region using surgery. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a widely used technique for monitoring the brain activity and widely popular for seizure region detection. It is used before surgery for locating affected region. This manual process, using EEG graphs, is time consuming and requires deep expertise. In the present paper, a model has been proposed that preserves the true nature of an EEG signal in form of textual one-dimensional vector. The proposed model achieves a state of art performance for Bonn University dataset giving an average sensitivity, specificity of 81% and 81.4% respectively for classification of EEG data among all five classes. Also for binary classification achieving 99.9%, 99.5% score value for specificity and sensitivity instead of 2D models used by other researchers. Thus, developed system will significantly help neurosurgeons in the increase of their performance. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A reduced codebook and re-interpolation approach for enhancing quality in chroma subsampling

Prior to encoding RGB full-color images or Bayer color filter array (CFA) images, chroma subsampling is a necessary and crucial step at the server side. In this paper, we first propose a flow diagram approach to analyze the coordinate-inconsistency (CI) problem and the upsampling process-inconsistency (UPI) problem existing in the traditional and state-of-the-art chroma subsampling methods under the current coding environment. In addition, we explain why the two problems degrade the quality of the reconstructed images. Next, we propose a reduced codebook and re-interpolation (RCRI) approach to solve the two problems for enhancing the quality of the reconstructed images. Based on the testing RGB full-color images and Bayer CFA images, the comprehensive experimental results demonstrated at least 1.4 dB and 2.4 dB quality improvement effects, respectively, of our RCRI approach against the CI and UPI problems for the traditional and state-of-the-art chroma subsampling methods. Mechanical beam steering using two independent axially rotating metasurfaces (Risley Prism configuration) have proved to be a cost-effective solution for millimeter wave (mmW) antennas. Adapting this canonical beam steering concept from optics to mmW using metasurfaces (instead of wedge prisms) allows achieving a greater design flexibility. Many works have explored different ways of encoding the required phase correction. All of them implicitly implement three functionalities: i) beam collimation (i.e., plane wave conversion); ii) 1D beam tilting along a given axis; iii) 1D beam tilting along a second direction, the two tilting direction being set to produce the prescribed beam pointing direction. Conventionally, steps i) and ii) are solved by the first operating metasurface, which sets the phase delay profile of the second metasurface. Recently, the authors have shown an alternative approach where the beam collimation is performed by the combined effect of the two metasurfaces. Using 3D-printed perforated slabs we have previously demonstrated that this generalized approach is effective for the reduction of the side lobe level in the conventional case. In this communication, we will present alternative implementations of this concept to demonstrate the wider reach of our findings.

The development of large-scale quantum networks requires reliable quantum channels, the quality of which can be quantified by the framework of quantum process tomography. In this work, we leverage ancilla-assisted process tomography and Bayesian inference to probe a 1.6 km deployed fiber-optic link. We send one of two polarization-entangled photons from Alice in one building to Bob in another, exploiting the local qubit as an ancilla system to characterize the corresponding quantum channel. Monitoring over a 24 h period returns a steady process fidelity of 95.1(1)%, while controllable spectral filtering with passbands from 0.025–4.38 THz finds fidelities that first increase, then level off with bandwidth, suggesting both stable operation with time and minimal polarization mode dispersion. To our knowledge, these results represent the first AAPT of a deployed quantum link, revealing a valuable tool for in situ analysis of entanglement-based quantum networks. This paper proposes a method for the automatic alignment and locating the position. This paper proposes methods for the alignment and location on two types of fiducial marks (FM) images. FM images of the first type include light-emitting diode (LED) wafer images, liquid crystal display (LCD) images and hand-held electronic device (HED) images. FM images of the second type include LCD cross images and LED square cross images. This paper proposes the artificial measurement method and the mechanical measurement method in order to make mechanical positioning-related decisions. To validate the properties and the robustness of the proposed methods. The results achieved by the proposed matching, alignment methods are compared with those achieved by manual image matching in order to evaluate the accuracy and performance of the alignment methods. computer image processing skills, appropriate charge coupled device (CCD) equipment, quantity, image capture technology and glazing mode are used to develop high speed, precision and stability automatic positioning technology in this paper. In order to ascertain the requirements of high-quality gas turbine components, an investigation was undertaken into the composition design of Ni-based single crystal superalloys utilising high-throughput, data-driven machine learning methodologies. A characteristic parameter space influencing high-temperature strength in superalloys was established through theoretical calculation and the extraction of data from the superalloy manual. By means of correlation screening, it was determined that Vγ′、VTCP and Tγ′-solvus represent the crucial parameters, which were used as the basis for optimisation tasks. In accordance with the principles of domain knowledge, a series of constraints were established for the purpose of screening the prospective alloy components, with the objective of achieving a high level of temperature strength. Subsequently, the preferred composition alloys and the commercial alloys were prepared through experimentation. Characterisation of the new composition alloys revealed that they exhibited a microstructure with 60 ∼ 75 % cubic γ′ phase, which demonstrated a relatively strong correlation with the optimisation tasks. Furthermore, the results show that the new alloys exhibit not only superior high-temperature strength but also notable improvements in elongation, density and cost, conferring them with enhanced economic value and potential for wider application compared to the current commercial alloys. The correlation between microstructure and properties suggests that the enhancement in performance is attributable to the optimisation of key microstructure objectives, offering a promising avenue for alloy design. © 2025

Billions of organic molecules are known, but only a tiny fraction of the functional inorganic materials have been discovered, a particularly relevant problem to the community searching for new quantum materials. Recent advancements in machine-learning-based generative models, particularly diffusion models, show great promise for generating new, stable materials. However, integrating geometric patterns into materials generation remains a challenge. Here, we introduce Structural Constraint Integration in the GENerative model (SCIGEN). Our approach can modify any trained generative diffusion model by strategic masking of the denoised structure with a diffused constrained structure prior to each diffusion step to steer the generation toward constrained outputs. Furthermore, we mathematically prove that SCIGEN effectively performs conditional sampling from the original distribution, which is crucial for generating stable constrained materials. We generate eight million compounds using Archimedean lattices as prototype constraints, with over 10% surviving a multi-staged stability pre-screening. High-throughput density functional theory (DFT) on 26,000 survived compounds shows that over 50% passed structural optimization at the DFT level. Since the properties of quantum materials are closely related to geometric patterns, our results indicate that SCIGEN provides a general framework for generating quantum materials candidates. © 2024, CC BY.
