Study on a Computational Model of Food Intake for a Body Weight Management System

From health surveys for public, the overweight condition of people happens frequently due to three causes: eating too much, exercising too little, and eating incorrectly. This study tries to help users to achieve a balanced diet in body weight management. To achieve the objective, we build and provide a weight management information platform, which integrates dietary and exercise management with embedded system design, for users. For the body weight management system, it is developed for monitoring and managing the diet of users and calculating an appropriate recipe by integer linear programming for users. The system is composed of two subsystems, where one is based on a hand-held device (or a smart phone) for users, and the other is an application system located in a server computer connected via a wireless network. The paper develops an intelligent mobile robot with a motion platform. The mobile robot is constructed using aluminum frame, and has the shape of rectangle and its length, width, height and weight is 50cm, 40cm, 30cm and 30kg respectively. In the avoidance obstacle and driver system, the mobile robot uses motion control modules to drive two DC servomotors, and detects obstacle using four ultrasonic sensors. Four ultrasonic sensors are aligned on the front side of the mobile robot. We develop a PC-based control system for image processing and path planning of the mobile robot. The controller of the motion platform is HOLTEK Semiconductor Company’s HT66F Series 8-bit microprocessor. The balance position of the motion platform is controllable by PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control law. Finally, we implement the experimental scenarios for the mobile robot moving on the uneven terrain. The mobile robot can control the motion platform on the balance position according to the FAS-A inclinometer sensor. © 2015, ICIC International.

The article develops decision rules of the Chinese chess game using evaluation algorithm, and presents the movement scenarios of the chesses using mobile robots. User can play the game using the mouse on the user interface with the computer. The computer can program the motion method of chess to win each set with the player (red side or black side), and solve the collision problems of the motion paths for two chesses simultaneously. Mobile robots present the movement scenarios of the chesses on the grid based chessboard platform. The chess (Attacker) will take the chess (Dead) of the other side. The user interface will program two motion paths for two chesses (Attack and Dead). The motion paths of “Attacker chess” and “Dead chess” have collision problem. “Attack chess” will wait for “Dead chess” to pass through collision paths. Then “Attack chess” moves to the assigned position. The computer controls mobile robots according to the programmed motion paths of the chesses moving on the platform via wireless RF interface. We use enhance A_ searching algorithm to solve the shortest path problem of the chess. Finally, we use simulation method to display the motion paths of the chesses on the user interface. The computer implements the simulation results on the grid based chessboard platform using mobile robots. © 2015, ICIC International.

Selective co-clustering ensemble based on normalized mutual information

Co-clustering is to simultaneously cluster the rows and columns of a data. Different co-clustering models usually produce very distinct results because each algorithm has its own bias due to the optimization of different criteria. Combining different co-clustering results is an approach for improving the quality of the results of co-clustering. And co-clustering ensembles provide a framework for combining multiple base co-clustering results to generate a stable and robust consensus co-clustering. In this paper, a novel co-clustering ensemble named selective co-clustering ensemble (SCCE) is presented, and the algorithm oriented SCCE is illustrated step by step. Three co-clustering algorithms of Information-Theoretic Co-clustering (ITCC), Bregman Coclustering (BCC) and Selective Co-clustering (SCC) are applied to obtain the base coclustering results, and then the proposed algorithm and Relational Multi-manifold Coclustering Ensemble (RMCCE) are used to combine the co-clustering results. At last, the results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the base co-clustering algorithms and RMCCE. © ICIC International 2015.

In this paper, anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) is introduced as a potential new material for making interposers, and a low cost process for building high density interposers is demonstrated. Hard anodic process was used to create thick anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) films containing high density vertical nanopores on aluminum substrates. Silicon dioxide (SiO_2) deposition by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) was performed to form a hard mask against deep etching by a hydroxide based solution. Wet hydroxide etch produced nearly vertical openings in the AAO due to the highly anisotropic nature of the AAO material. Vias were metallized by bottom-up copper electroplating directly from the aluminum substrate, which acted as both a structural material and a seed layer for electroplating. After via plating, the top surface was polished to reach submicron surface roughness;the bottom surface was polished after etching away the aluminum carrier substrate to produce a final AAO interposer. This interposer benefits from high density vertical vias, low cost, and ease of manufacture.

Fuzzy following method for leader-following robots

In this paper, we propose a fuzzy following method for a multi-robot leader-following system. Based on the proposed method, the follower robots can follow the leader in serial or parallel form wherever the leader moves on. We use hierarchical communication structure to perform hierarchical group-communication. The leader robot is controlled by a personal computer via radio-frequency (RF) commands, and transfers its information to the followers around it via infrared signals. Summary Background Across low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), one in ten deaths in children younger than 5 years is attributable to diarrhoea. The substantial between-country variation in both diarrhoea incidence and mortality is attributable to interventions that protect children, prevent infection, and treat disease. Identifying subnational regions with the highest burden and mapping associated risk factors can aid in reducing preventable childhood *** We used Bayesian model-based geostatistics and a geolocated dataset comprising 15 072 746 children younger than 5 years from 466 surveys in 94 LMICs, in combination with findings of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2017, to estimate posterior distributions of diarrhoea prevalence, incidence, and mortality from 2000 to 2017. From these data, we estimated the burden of diarrhoea at varying subnational levels (termed units) by spatially aggregating draws, and we investigated the drivers of subnational patterns by creating aggregated risk factor *** The greatest declines in diarrhoeal mortality were seen in south and southeast Asia and South America, where 54·0% (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 38·1-65·8), 17·4% (7·7-28·4), and 59·5% (34·2-86·9) of units, respectively, recorded decreases in deaths from diarrhoea greater than 10%. Although children in much of Africa remain at high risk of death due to diarrhoea, regions with the most deaths were outside Africa, with the highest mortality units located in Pakistan. Indonesia showed the greatest within-country geographical inequality; some regions had mortality rates nearly four times the average country rate. The present study explores the characteristic value of social behavior in using digital text voting for commercial competition in Indonesia. The combination models of technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) were used to evaluate the latent exploration factors. A total of 112 respondent data was analyzed by structural equation modeling (SEM). Six positive correlations were revealed and the evaluation model able to describe the 36 percent R-square of total behavior intention to use digital text voting for commercial competition in Indonesia. The analysis also reveals that the attitude (AT) factor contributes as the most prominent as well as the highest latent factor to affect the individual's intention by SEM analysis. The exploration result can be used as a valuable input by companies in entertainment industry to develop strategies in attracting the commercial competition viewers.

Power consumption optimization strategy of cloud workflow scheduling based on SLA

Cloud computing, as a new model of service provision in distributed computing environment, faces the great challenge of energy consumption because of its large demand for computing resources. Choosing improper scheduling method to execute cloud workflow tends to result in the waste of power consumption. In order to lower the higher power consumption for cloud workflow executing, we propose a power consumption optimization algorithm for cloud workflow scheduling based on SLA (Service Level Agreement), which can reduce power consumption while meeting the performance-based constraints of time and cost. The algorithm first searches for all feasible scheduling solutions of cloud workflow application with critical path, then the optimal scheduling solution can be found out through calculating total power consumption for each feasible scheduling solution. The experimental results show that compared with traditional workflow scheduling algorithms based on QoS, the optimization algorithm proposed in this paper not only meets the constraints of time and cost defined in SLA, but also reduces the average power consumption by around 10%.

The rising popularity of Internet provides convenience while also raising the risk of disclosure from the viewpoint of information security. In particular, steganography is a common way to safeguard information because it can be used to embed the secret data into the meaningful message and the attacker cannot find it out. In order to increase embedding capacity and maintain others desirable steganographic attributes, a hybrid GEMD(generalized exploiting modification direction) data hiding method will be proposed in this paper. According to our proposed method, the embedding capacity can be achieved 4bpp (under accepted stego image, i.e., the stego image's quality also is better than 30dB). Moreover, there are three major contributions of this scheme. One, it does not change to the variable codes that eliminated additional communication, another is the number of projection vectors used no longer excessive and the other is no over-flow/underow problem exists. From our simulation results and performance discussion, we can prove that our method does not only to provide the improved embedding capacity but also to maintain good stego image quality.
