Patent intellectual property in social informatics with entrepreneurship support creates greater opportunities to improve human life. It has the potential to open enormous innovation opportunities in various fields, such as technology, health, services, and society. This research was conducted to review the patent landscape and the main trends of patents on social informatics in all countries. Researchers applied a patent landscape analysis using data on 487 patent documents over 16 years from the *** database. The study results show yearly patented development patterns related to social informatics. There is a royalty-free opportunity by using 15 patent discontinued. Patent related to social informatics was dominated by company ownership and inventors from the United States. The patent physics (G) section overwhelmed patents related to social informatics. There were 334 simple family patents on social informatics in nine jurisdictions;the United States was the highest. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Using the Scopus database, this study aims to investigate the use of artificial intelligence for cancer detection in the last ten years from 2013 to 2022. The researchers used bibliometric analysis combined with VosViewer and Rstudio software quantification method for literature analysis. The results of the flushed articles show data such as publication year, journal, country, keywords, and authors, to the highest number of citations. Common keywords used by researchers are artificial intelligence, medical, and human. Researchers limited the findings through keywords such as in the last ten years, documents are journals, and English only so that 1868 articles were obtained. The results found that Harvard Medical School affiliation had the highest number of articles, with 101 articles, by subject area, Medicine had a proportion of 41.9% (n=1320). This bibliometric study will be useful for other researchers to examine the development of research on Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Detection in the last ten years. © 2023 IEEE.

This study introduces an innovative actuator that resembles a motor with a non-uniform permanent magnetic field. We have developed a prototype of the actuator by combining a standard motor, characterized by a uniform magnetic field, with a custom rotary magnetic spring exhibiting a non-uniform magnetic field. We have also presented a systematic computational approach to customize the magnetic field to minimize the energy consumption of the actuator when used for a user-defined oscillatory task. Experiments demonstrate that this optimized actuator significantly lowers energy consumption in a typical oscillatory task, such as pick-and-place or oscillatory limb motion during locomotion, compared to conventional motors. Our findings imply that incorporating task-optimized non-uniform permanent magnetic fields into conventional motors and direct-drive actuators could enhance the energy efficiency of robotic systems.

This study aims to investigate the use of artificial intelligence in health education in the last ten years from 2012 to 2022 using the Scopus database. Researchers use bibliometric analysis combined with the quantification method of Vosviewer and Rstudio software used for literature analysis. The results of the article that were flushed showed data such as the year of publication, journal, country, keywords, and authors, to the highest number of citations. The general keywords used by researchers are artificial intelligence, medical, and education. Researchers limit findings through keywords as in the last ten years and English only so that 1681 articles were obtained. According to the study's findings, McGill University affiliation had the greatest number of papers, with 69 pieces, and medicine had a proportion of 39.7% (n = 1067). This research article presents a modified isolated SEPIC converter suitable for high-power applications. It uses a transformer instead of coupled inductor for isolation between the input power source and the output load. The steady-state analysis is explained in detail. Thermal loss analysis is performed by using PLECS software. Further, a hardware prototype is developed to verify the performance aspects of the proposed converter.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be a disruptive technology that defines and reshapes the economy, more efficient industrial processes, new business models, and the service sector, becoming the development of different practices than before. The literature shows that it will be included in all fields and people's lives, as is the case in the digital economy. Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy has not been studied significantly. This study uses bibliometric analysis to graphically map scientific publications and research trends in the Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy sector around the world in the last ten years. The Scopus database was used to collect metadata information for this study, and VOSViewer was used to demonstrate bibliometric network mapping. We use an article selection procedure starting with the searched keywords and year constraints and then exporting the database to a RIS file format. Over the last ten years, we retrieved 540 scientific publications published between 2012 and 2021 from the Scopus database. From the data obtained, researchers at the Russian Federation have the most published papers indexed by Scopus among the most productive countries (N=131), the most productive authors are Petrenko, S.A. (N=4), and the most subject area is computer Science (N=246). We also use VOSViewer to map the Network Theme. This study recommends incorporating research subjects Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy: Thing, Education, Platform, Global Economy, abbreviated as TEPGE research theme. © 2022 IEEE.

The Robotics Major at the University of Michigan was successfully launched inthe 2022-23 academic year as an innovative step forward to better servestudents, our communities, and our society. Building on our guiding principleof "Robotics with Respect" and our larger Robotics Pathways model, the MichiganRobotics Major was designed to define robotics as a true academic disciplinewith both equity and excellence as our highest priorities. Understanding thattalent is equally distributed but opportunity is not, the Michigan RoboticsMajor has embraced an adaptable curriculum that is accessible through adiversity of student pathways and enables successful and sustained career-longparticipation in robotics, AI, and automation professions. The results afterour planning efforts (2019-22) and first academic year (2022-23) have beenhighly encouraging: more than 100 students declared Robotics as their major,completion of the Robotics major by our first two graduates, soaringenrollments in our Robotics classes, thriving partnerships with HistoricallyBlack Colleges and Universities. computer simulations are an important tool for studying the mechanics of biological evolution. In particular, agent-based approaches provide an opportunity to collect high-quality records of ancestry relationships. Such phylogenies can provide insight into evolutionary dynamics within these simulations. Previous work generally tracks lineages directly, yielding an exact phylogenetic record of evolutionary history. However, challenges exist in scaling direct ancestrytracking approaches to highly-distributed, many-processor evolution in silico. An alternative approach is to estimate phylogenetic history via noncoding annotations on digital genomes, akin to how bioinformaticians build phylogenies by assessing genetic similarities between organisms. Recent work has extended this 'hereditary stratigraphy' approach to support powerful hardware accelerator platforms, such as the Cerebras Wafer-Scale Engine. Although these second-generation 'surface'-based hereditary stratigraphy algorithms have demonstrated order-ofmagnitude speedups over first-generation 'column'-based algorithms, it remains unknown how they impact the accuracy of reconstructed phylogenies. To address this question, we assessed reconstruction accuracy under alternative configurations across a matrix of evolutionary conditions varying in selection pressure, spatial structure, and ecological dynamics. Encouragingly, we find that the second-generation approaches provide higher reconstruction quality across most surveyed conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

Severe intensity inhomogeneity (InH) and complex real-world textures cause great difficulties and become two important issues in image segmentation and object extraction applications. Plenty of methods are proposed to tackle these issues, however, they usually perform poorly on images possess both InH and texture. In this paper, we propose a region-based active contour model for segmenting images with simultaneous inhomogeneity and texture. A new bias field possesses both global and local smoothness properties is proposed to handle the InH issue, and a pixel inhomogeneity factor (PIF) is employed to jointly deal with InH and textured images. We also employ the total variation (TV) regularization to further smooth and denoise the transformed PIF image, making the segmentation process to have the nice properties of global convergence and independence of contour initialization. A large number of numerical experiments and comparisons are conducted to demonstrate the effective performance of the newly proposed method. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Tracking Players in a Badminton Court by Two Cameras

This study proposes a simple method for multi-object tracking (MOT) of players in a badminton court. We leverage two off-the-shelf cameras, one on the top of the court and the other on the side of the court. The one on the top is to track players’ trajectories, while the one on the side is to analyze the pixel features of players. By computing the correlations between adjacent frames and engaging the information of the two cameras, MOT of badminton players is obtained. This two-camera approach addresses the challenge of player occlusion and overlapping in a badminton court, providing player trajectory tracking and multi-angle analysis. The presented system offers insights into the positions and movements of badminton players, thus serving as a coaching or self-training tool for badminton players to improve their gaming strategies.
