Artificial intelligence (AI) is the process by which human-designed systems analyse available data and make judgements based on predetermined criteria in order to accomplish particular objectives. The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked a deep ethical conversation among key players, including tech companies, businesses, educational institutions, and legislators. AI’s ethical problems have prompted the creation of ethical frameworks that aim to control its application for the good of society, the defence of human rights, and the maintenance of individual autonomy and privacy. This paper provides a critical evaluation and summary of the fundamental concepts behind the use of artificial intelligence, with a focus on the GDPR’s (General Data Protection Regulation) approach. The rights of data subjects, data protection legislation, and data subjects’ permission are crucial considerations in the context of “privacy by design.”

Satellite FSO/QKD systems employ free-space optical links between satellites and ground stations to achieve long-distance quantum key distribution. However, these systems face challenges from atmospheric turbulence. This paper introduces a theoretical framework to evaluate the influence of phase fluctuations caused by atmospheric turbulence on the system performance. Mathematical expressions for key performance metrics are derived and validated through Monte- Carlo simulations. Using results from the framework, we provide a recommended system setup to fulfil the QKD performance requirements under different atmospheric turbulence conditions.

The contamination in the Urban water distribution networks (WDNs) is a spontaneous event, and it can occur anytime and anywhere in a water distribution network. The contamination causes severe health impacts to an urban population. Therefore, IoT-based water quality sensors are used as the resilience tool for water distribution networks. Resilience includes contamination detection and localization. The placement of the water quality sensors in the water distribution network must be optimally planned as distribution networks are sensitive to invasive sensors, infrastructure aging, and the robustness of IoT sensor deployments. The proposed methodology identifies the sensor placement locations as the critical points in a particular water distribution network and analyzes the contamination scenarios for each critical point. The proposed method was applied to the benchmark water distribution system Net3 and the live network in Edakochi, Kerala (India). The results demonstrate the significant detection efficiency of the defined water quality sensor placement framework.

Most IoT-enabled smart grids are centralized. Blockchain-based decentralized systems are secure, private, transparent, stable, and auditable. Since Blockchain transactions are immutable, energy trade and tracking are more straightforward. Scalable connection and access control management are implemented in these networks through the queueing concept. By keeping this in mind, the present article proposes a priorityreservation queueing-based analytical model for Blockchain-assisted smart grid systems to facilitate easy accessibility between consumers and distributors. We also present various numerical findings to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Nail denting or crumbling may result from nail psoriasis. A nail condition known as psoriatic onychodystrophy or psoriatic nails. Psoriasis sufferers frequently experience it; reported occurrences range from 10% to 78%. Psoriatic nails are more common in the elderly and in people with psoriatic arthritis. By examining the nails on a human hand, numerous illnesses can be found early in the diagnosing process. The nail color of an individual can help in the diagnosis of specific medical disorders. In this case, the recommended method results in the decision-making process for sickness diagnosis. The system is fed by human nail art. The technique recognizes nail features unique to a given condition by analyzing images of nails. The suggested technique makes advantage of the various distinctive characteristics of human nails to detect illness by changing the colour of the nails. The first training set data, which is derived from an image of a patient’s nails with a particular ailment, is handled by the Weka tool. To get the desired results, the feature discoveries of the picture are compared to the training dataset. The distortion of the nail unit is known as nail disease. Nail units have their own disease class due to their own indications, symptoms, causes, and consequences, which may or may not be related to other medical disorders. Nail problems are still difficult and ambiguous to identify. A novel machine learning method for recognising and classifying nail problems from photographs is presented in this study. This framework combines CNN models with data mining techniques to extract characteristics. This research was also contrasted with certain other province algorithms (Support vector, ANN, K - nearest neighbors, and RF) evaluated on datasets and showed positive results. Typically, road lanes are solid or dashed line formations that are continuous on the surface. As the driving sceneries are continuous as well as substantially overlap, the placement of lanes in one frame is highly correlated with their position in the next frame. computer vision-related machine learning algorithms have also advanced rapidly in recent years, becoming both more efficient & more effective as high-precision optical and electronic sensors become more commonplace, and real-time driving scene recognition is becoming more feasible. Recent years have seen several technical breakthroughs in the field of road safety, as the number of accidents has risen at an alarming pace, with driver inattention being one of the primary causes. To minimize the incidence of accidents as well as maintain safety, technological advances are required. Lane Detection Systems, which operate to recognize the lane boundaries on the road as well as alert the driver if he changes and goes to incorrect lane markings, are one method of achieving this goal. A lane detection system is a crucial element of many technologically advanced transportation systems. This research uses the Hough Transform technique for lane identification.

Advances in blood cell detection and classification: A review of deep learning and object detection techniques

In the diagnosis and treatment of a patient, blood cell detection and classification is a critical activity. Skilled lab technicians manually inspect the blood cells in a conventional method, which is time-consuming and error-prone. With the recent advancements in image processing, deep learning and object detection techniques has acquired larger attention for automating the procedure of blood cell detection and classification. This article focuses on how image processing and machine learning can be used to morphologically characterise and recognise cell pictures collected from peripheral blood smears. Image processing techniques for blood cell detection are typically based on thresholding, segmentation and morphological operations. Machine learning algorithms can learn from data and adapt to new conditions allowing for more accurate and robust blood cell detection. Deep learning algorithms can learn to extract relevant features from raw image data, eliminating the need for manual feature engineering. Deep learning methodology is superior to traditional image processing methods in literature. This paper also focuses on typical generic architectures for object detection covering one stage as well as two stage detectors to improve the detection performance further. Multiple approaches to microscopic blood cells examinations are analysed and compared using various performance metrics.
