In the area of electric submersible pumps (ESPs), permanent magnet motor (PMM) drives are drawing increasing attention due to the advantages of high energy efficiency and high-power density. However, there are few studies focusing on the specific issues of the ESP PMM drives. To solve the issue, this paper emphasizes the voltage drop and position estimation inaccuracy issues of the system. First, the voltage drops caused by the LC filter, transformer, and long cables are analyzed, providing guidelines for designing the appropriate PMM drives. Second, the impacts of system structure on position and speed estimation accuracy are explained at length, posing necessity of developing improved sensorless control strategies. Finally, simulation is conducted on a PMM drive to verify the effectiveness of the analytical results. © 2023 IEEE.

Instruction-Following Language Models (IFLMs) are the state-of-the-art for solving many downstream tasks. Given their widespread use, there is an urgent need to measure whether the sentences they generate contain toxic information or social biases. In this paper, we propose Prompt Association Test for the Italian language (ItaP-AT): a new resource for testing the presence of social bias in different domains in IFLMs. This work also aims to understand whether it is possible to make the responses of these models more fair by using context learning, using "one-shot anti-stereotypical prompts". © 2024 CEUR-WS. Reinforcement learning holds promise in enabling robotic tasks as it can learn optimal policies via trial and ***,the practical deployment of reinforcement learning usually requires human intervention to provide episodic resets when a failure *** manual resets are generally unavailable in autonomous robots,we propose a reset-free reinforcement learning algorithm based on multi-state recovery and failure prevention to avoid failure-induced *** multi-state recovery provides robots with the capability of recovering from failures by self-correcting its behavior in the problematic state and,more importantly,deciding which previous state is the best to return to for efficient *** failure prevention reduces potential failures by predicting and excluding possible unsafe actions in specific *** simulations and real-world experiments are used to validate our algorithm with the results showing a significant reduction in the number of resets and failures during the learning.

With the the vigorous development of new power system, energy and carbon coupling trading has emerged as an effective way to promote the renewable generation and reduce carbon footprint. It is a challenge to design an effective market framework for joint electricity and carbon trading to achieve better strategies. This paper introduces a peer-to-peer electricity-carbon coupling trading (ECCT) market and develops a carbon-electricity virtual battery (CEVB) model to represent the relationship between dynamic carbon credits and energy consumption. The trading optimization problem is formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process, then multi-agent double soft actor-critic (MADSAC) algorithm is introduced to solve the problem. The algorithm makes the method more exploratory, protects personal privacy and solves the overestimation problems effectively. Result studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed market and algorithm in optimizing total cost and reducing carbon emissions. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel concept to eliminate the digital delay effect on rotor position for the traditional two-step finite control set model predictive current control (FCS-MPCC) method used in the PMSMs. Specifically, that the digital delay affects the position, and further the prediction accuracy is discussed firstly, posing the necessity of compensating the position used for control. Then, a speed-prediction-based linear compensation method which takes the speed shift trend into account is proposed to eliminate the digital delay impact on position, which is conducive to the control performance. Finally, simulation is conducted on a three-phase PMSM to validate the proposed strategy in comparison with the traditional two-step FCS-MPCC. © 2023 IEEE.

In a world where technology reigns supreme, the Internet of Things has taken center stage, revolutionizing our lives in countless ways. Augmented reality, crystal-clear video streaming, self-driving cars, intelligent environments, and advanced healthcare are just a few examples of the IoT's widespread impact. With these groundbreaking ideas in mind, the IoT demands faster data rates, wider bandwidth, increased capacity, swift data transmission, and minimal delays. Addressing these requirements head-on, this paper introduces 5G as the leading-edge technology capable of meeting these challenges. The fifth-generation cellular networks, known as 5G, offer a host of vital features that facilitate the widespread adoption of IoT. These features include device-to-device communication, where devices can directly exchange information without relying on a central server, coordinated multipoint processing to enhance network efficiency, massive machine type communication that enables seamless connectivity for countless IoT devices, ultra-reliable low latency communication to ensure critical data is transmitted swiftly and reliably, and extreme mobile broadband to support high-speed, uninterrupted connectivity on the go. It has paved ways for innovative wireless architecture and intelligent services and 6 G which will be the next step in this evolutionary cycle of wireless networks is expected to amplify this development to new and unimaginable levels. This article gives an extensive overview of the IoT technology, outlining its statistical and architectural trends, application scenarios, challenges and its potential. The research also offers a thorough and in-depth analysis of the current 5G-IoT environment. The use cases for 5 G in IoT systems are also emphasized. As a result, we discuss some of the key 5G IoT research directions and trends. A rigorous check is a significant phase in the design process of control programs of safety-critical cyber-physical systems. Here, we consider such programs to be implemented using IEC 61499 standard for industrial automation. After the check is performed (for example, using formal verification), the engineer needs to ensure that even in unexpected situations, the system will not fail during the runtime, and for this online verification methods can be utilized. In this work, we consider attaching monitors implemented as basic function blocks to the interface of the controller, thus having a property being monitored represented in the form of a state machine. Now, monitors make the system safer only if their quality is also ensured. Since their complexity is far lower than the complexity of the controller, they can be model checked, however, in the case of IEC 61499 function blocks, open-loop model checking will produce spurious counterexamples as it will allow combinations that are not possible according to the IEC 61499 function blocks semantics (e.g., data transferred without firing the event). The current work addresses this issue and proposes a method for close-loop model checking of monitors, using the non-deterministic twin of a controller under supervision. We present our approach using the system of two orthogonal pneumatic cylinders. © 2023 IEEE.

Numerous natural disasters due to climate change pose major threats to the sustainability of public infrastructure and human lives. For emergency rescue and recovery during a disaster, a rapid and accurate evaluation of disaster damage is essential. In recent years, the Transformer has gained popularity in a number of tasks related to computer vision, which offers tremendous potential for improving the accuracy of disaster damage assessments. Our research aims to determine whether Vision Transformer (ViT) can be used to assess natural disaster damage on high-resolution Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) data in comparison with conventional deep-learning semantic segmentation techniques. We discuss if Transformer can perform better than CNNs in accurately assessing the damage caused in order to bridge the gap. Detailed performance comparison of state-of-art deep learning semantic segmentation models (UNET, Segnet, PSPNet, Deeplabv3+) and Transformer framework (SegFormer) for damage assessment is presented. The experimentation is performed on both natural disaster damage datasets (RescueNet, FloodNet). The study supported SegFormer as the most appropriate model for estimating disaster damage, with mIoUs of 96% on the RescueNet dataset and 82.22% on the FloodNet dataset, respectively. The Transformer is capable of outperforming conventional segmentation CNNs in understanding the entirety of the scene and assessing the severity of the damage, based on both quantitative evaluation and visual results. © 2023 IEEE.

For fuzzy systems to be implemented effectively,the fuzzy membership function(MF)is essential.A fuzzy system(FS)that implements precise input and output MFs is presented to enhance the performance and accuracy of single-input single-output(SISO)FSs and introduce the most applicable input and output MFs protocol to linearize the fuzzy system’s *** a variety of non-linear techniques,a SISO FS is *** results of FS experiments conducted in comparable conditions are then *** simulated results and the results of the experimental setup agree fairly *** findings of the suggested model demonstrate that the relative error is abated to a sufficient range(≤±10%)and that the mean absolute percentage error(MPAE)is reduced by around 66.2%.The proposed strategy to reduceMAPE using an FS improves the system’s performance and control *** using the best input and output MFs protocol,the energy and financial efficiency of every SISO FS can be improved with very little tuning of *** proposed fuzzy system performed far better than other modern days approaches available in the literature.
