In this paper, we propose to utilize the beam squint effect to realize fast non-cooperative dynamic target sensing in massive multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) based integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) systems. Specifically, we design a beamforming strategy that controls the range of beam squint by adjusting the values of phase shifters and true time delay lines. With this design, beams at different subcarriers can be aligned along different directions in a planned way. Then the received echo signals at different subcarriers will carry targets information in different directions, based on which the targets' angles can be estimated through sophisticatedly designed algorithm. Moreover, we propose a supporting method based on extended array signal estimation, which utilizes the phase changes of different frequency subcarriers within different OFDM symbols to estimate the distance and velocity of dynamic targets. Interestingly, the proposed sensing scheme only needs to transmit and receive the signals once, which can be termed as You Only Listen Once (YOLO). Compared with the traditional ISAC method that requires time consuming beam sweeping, the proposed one greatly reduces the sensing overhead. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) provides low cost, low complexity, long battery life, increased coverage area, and increased density of connections per cell making it suitable for various use cases such as smart metering and smart cities. Billions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices were connected as of 2020 and the ever-growing need to urgently deploy NB-IoT solutions on 5G networks has led to the improvement of security aspects of the NB-IoT deployments on 5G receiving close attention. Network access security of NB-IoT on the Fifth Generation (5G) network was investigated by analysing the methods, strengths, and weaknesses of existing Internet of Things (IoT) security solutions. In addition, NB-IoT and 5G functional architectures were presented in this paper, as well as attacks faced by IoT devices at different layers. It was found that the current security solutions do not entirely offer robust access rights management of IoT users and devices. Thus, a holistic Access Control System (ACS) needs to be developed. © 2022 IEEE.

Microphone arrays provide a non-intrusive and adaptable approach to detect partial discharges (PD) in power equipment. Nonetheless, current methods that rely on microphone arrays frequently overlook the distinct data characteristics inherent in microphone array recordings, especially in the context of PD classification. This paper endeavors to address these gaps by analyzing the temporal and spatial correlation features within microphone array data. Three distinct methods for PD pattern recognition in acoustic array data are proposed, utilizing one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) and the squeeze-and-excitation (SE) correlation extraction method. Based on the PD dataset collected from laboratory simulations, experiments are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. Furthermore, by comparing different scenarios involving correlation analysis, the research highlights the significance of considering both spatial and temporal correlations to enhance the effectiveness of PD classification.

Stereo Matching for Face Images Based on Feature Points

Stereo matching is the key of reconstructing 3D face model from 2D face images and Barnard's algorithm is one of the classical stereo matching algorithms based on feature points. In order to enhance the stability of extracting feature points, reduce computational complexity and minimize the effect of subjective factors, in this paper, Barnard's algorithm of edge point matching was improved from two aspects: edge point sets of left and right face images were extracted with dyadic wavelet transform, rather than comparing gray values of adjacent pixels; on the other hand, edge points in binocular stereo face images were matched under epipolar constraint in parallel binocular stereo matching. Experimental results demonstrate that stability and efficiency of stereo matching algorithm are both improved.

Investigating Gas Turbine (GT) degradation based on Gas Path Parameters (GPPs) is essential for its maintenance and operation. Monitoring GPPs is crucial for early detection of degradation, enabling timely maintenance interventions and preventing potential failures. Integrating physics-based thermodynamic models with representation learning significantly improves predictive maintenance studies and provides a solution to challenges posed by expensive and impractical accelerated aging experiments. However, this integration also presents challenges in managing both data complexity and data drift. In this context, this article aims to address these gaps by extending and improving previous research through (i) exclusive use of GPPs;(ii) the implementation of advanced data preprocessing techniques;and (iii) the use of innovative representation learning strategies. Specifically, it introduces ProgMachina, a tool for data quality analysis in prognosis studies that addresses issues related to data complexity in GPPs. Furthermore, to diversify the feature space and improve the adaptability of representation learning to degradation patterns, this paper proposes using Multiverse Recurrent Expansion with Multiple Repeats (MV-REMR) approach, which is based on a series of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs). For evaluation, this study incorporates cross-validation and multiple metrics while comparing against multiple RNNs and state-of-the-art works, demonstrating stable and promising performance, making it a suitable choice for GT prognosis tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

Since the early 2000s, Model-driven engineering has aimed to accomplish executable UML models. With fUML and PSCS, the Object Management Group (OMG) published standardized specifications of precise semantics for certain parts of UML in the form of metamodels, which form an execution environment. A certain characteristic of these environments is that static information about a model is analyzed and evaluated during runtime. With composite structures being a concept for describing structural properties of a model, the majority of execution semantics specified by PSCS concern analysis and processing of such static information about the model’s fine-grained structure. Thus, the PSCS specification appears suitable for a generative realization approach. Using Model-To-Text-Transformation to generate source code, which serves as an input for the actual execution environment, the runtime level of model executions can be relieved by outsourcing analysis and processing of static information to the level of code generation. By inserting this preprocessing step, the performance of the actual model execution at runtime can be improved. This paper introduces an implementation of the PSCS specification for C++ based on code generation using Model-to-Text-Transformation. This also includes a generative approach to realize an extension mechanism of the fUML and PSCS execution environments by introducing user-defined semantic execution strategies. The proposed PSCS implementation was developed as a part of the MDE4CPP project. Moreover, this paper presents a set of test models validating the correct functionality of the implementation as well as a performance benchmark. Finally, analysis results of an application example for the presented realization are evaluated and discussed. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Portable data acquisition devices, such as the National Instrument (NI) myDAQ, allow users to analyze electronic circuits without advanced measurement systems, making them invaluable in educational settings. Combined with NI Laboratory Virtual Instrument engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) on a personal computer, the NI myDAQ facilitates practical experiments and analyses anytime, anywhere. However, these devices can malfunction due to misuse or operation beyond their design limitations. This research presents the design, operation, and implementation of an energy-efficient test bench for the control and measurement functionalities of the NI myDAQ, aimed at detecting device failures through a specialized hardware and software setup using the loopback method. The test bench efficiently verifies all input and output ports, providing fast and accurate fault detection, and generates detailed performance reports to aid in long-term monitoring. By automating fault detection and reducing manual intervention, this setup ensures reliable operation, making it an ideal, resource-efficient solution for educational environments where practical, portable systems are essential for hands-on learning.

Information Flow Tracking(IFT)is an established formal method for proving security properties related to confidentiality,integrity,and *** has seen promise in identifying security vulnerabilities resulting from design flaws,timing channels,and hardware Trojans for secure hardware ***,existing IFT methods tend to take a qualitative approach and only enforce binary security properties,requiring strict non-interference for the properties to hold while real systems usually allow a small amount of information flows to enable desirable ***,existing methods are inadequate for reasoning about quantitative security properties or measuring the security of a design in order to assess the severity of a security *** this work,we propose two multi-flow solutions—multiple verifications for replicating existing IFT model and multi-flow IFT *** proposed multi-flow IFT method provides more insight into simultaneous information flow behaviors and allows for proof of quantitative information flow security properties,such as diffusion,randomization,and boundaries on the amount of simultaneous information *** results show that our method can be used to prove a new type of information flow security property with verification performance benefits.

In the area of electric submersible pumps (ESPs), permanent magnet motor (PMM) drives are drawing increasing attention due to the advantages of high energy efficiency and high-power density. However, there are few studies focusing on the specific issues of the ESP PMM drives. To solve the issue, this paper emphasizes the voltage drop and position estimation inaccuracy issues of the system. First, the voltage drops caused by the LC filter, transformer, and long cables are analyzed, providing guidelines for designing the appropriate PMM drives. Second, the impacts of system structure on position and speed estimation accuracy are explained at length, posing necessity of developing improved sensorless control strategies. Finally, simulation is conducted on a PMM drive to verify the effectiveness of the analytical results.
