This paper investigates the model-driven federated learning (FL) for channel estimation in multi-user millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Firstly, we formulate it as a sparse signal recovery problem by exploiting the beamspace domain sparsity of the mmWave channels. Then, we propose an FL-based learned approximate message passing (LAMP) channel estimation scheme, namely FL-LAMP, where the LAMP network is trained by an FL framework. Specifically, the base station (BS) and users jointly train the LAMP network, where the users update the local LAMP network parameters by local datasets consisting of measurement signals and beamspace channels, and the BS calculates the global LAMP network parameters by aggregating the local network parameters from all the users. The beamspace channel can thus be obtained in real time from the measurement signal based on the parameters of the trained LAMP network. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed FL-LAMP scheme can achieve better channel estimation accuracy than the existing orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) and approximate message passing (AMP) schemes, and provides satisfactory prediction capability for multipath channels.

This study uses data to enhance paper and cardboard recycling bin efficiency for sustainable waste management. It uses Internet of Things (IoT) and Random Forest algorithms to dynamically optimize bin use to improve recycling. It starts by installing IoT sensors on paper and cardboard recycling bins to track fill levels and use. A Random Forest system trained on past data predicts bin fill levels from this continuous data stream. The predictive algorithm adapts collection schedules and resource distribution based on temporal trends, weather, and community events. IoT and Random Forest increase fill-level forecasts and enable data-driven recycling bin management. This reduces wasted collections, fuel use, and carbon emissions, making recycling more sustainable and cost-effective. The study also analyzes the system's real-world urban application, demonstrating its scalability and flexibility to varied waste management circumstances. Our empirical study and case studies show that the technique improves paper and cardboard recycling efficiency, contributing to data-driven sustainability programs. © 2024 IEEE.

The proposed work looks into differences between types of Kohlrabi common in India using special systems called Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with Genetic Algorithms (GA). A set of 4000 high-quality pictures was carefully gathered and readied. These included Purple Vienna, White Vienna, and Grand Duke types. The CNN design was made to find small differences in pictures. It used convolutional, pooling, and fully connected parts for a strong grouping of things. The CNN model was good at telling apart different kinds of kohlrabi. It got it right 96.12% of the time based on how they looked and what color they were! The test results showed that the model was very accurate across all categories, showing it is reliable in spotting small differences. Comparing it to other ways of doing things, found that the CNN model worked better. This made sure it is a strong and trustworthy choice for telling different types of Kohlrabi apart. This study shows that machine learning methods, especially CNNs can be good for farming tasks. It gives hope to finding the right type of plants better in farm work and separate markets for sales. Also, these techniques help improve breeding programs. The good use of CNNs in correctly grouping Kohlrabi types shows better ways to grow crops and can help with making food long-lasting. It also leads people closer to understanding what different plants look like, helping those who work on farms make smarter choices. © 2025 IEEE.

The emergence of quantum computing has made us utilize its powers in solving the Monty Hall problem. The problem is depicted as a two-player game, where the two players, i.e. the host and the participant share an entangled three-qubit quantum state between them. The quantum state of three qubits is closely knit with the fact that behind which door would one expect the prize of the game to be. The two players are part of one team as they share a quantum communication channel amongst them by sharing the entangled state as a quantum resource. The article shows a unique way of utilizing the effectiveness and entanglement features of the W state as a source of communication in disguise for solving the Monty Hall problem. It is shown that by sharing the W state, the players always win the prize. Moreover, since Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum technology is the need of the hour, the effects of decoherence are also observed on the winning prospects of the game. © 2022 IEEE.

RIS-Assisted Wideband Beamforming for Near-Field Terahertz Systems

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted wideband terahertz (THz) communications are essential for achieving ultra-high data rates in sixth-generation (6G) networks. By adjusting the phase shifts of reflecting elements, RIS can effectively reshape wireless channels to enhance overall performance. However, two major challenges arise in RIS-assisted THz systems: 1) the dual beam split effect, where the large bandwidth causes subcarrier beam directions to diverge at both base station (BS) and RIS;and 2) the near-field effect, where the channel becomes a nonlinear function of both angle and distance. In this paper, we propose a novel beamforming technique, termed RIS-assisted wideband beamforming (RWB), to address these challenges and maximize data rates in RIS-assisted wideband THz systems. The RWB scheme leverages partially-connected true time delays (TTDs) and phase shifters (PSs) to generate frequency-dependent BS transmit beamforming vectors, while utilizing passive reflecting elements to control the frequency-invariant RIS reflect beamforming vector. By jointly optimizing the transmit and reflect beamforming vectors on the Riemannian manifold of unit-modulus phase shifts, RWB effectively mitigates both beam split and near-field effects. Numerical evaluations demonstrate that RWB achieves substantial data rate improvements over conventional wideband beamforming schemes. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, a visible light communication (VLC) indoor channel estimator was proposed using long-short term memory (LSTM). The proposed method of this paper is the use of a deep learning (DL) approach with an asymmetrically clipped optical-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (ACO-OFDM) optical modulation technique. The proposed estimator was evaluated using the bit error rate (BER) for different quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) levels. i.e., 64-QAM, 128-QAM and 256-QAM. Moreover, we compared our results with Kalman filter (KF) estimator in the literature. Our model achieves better results compared to KF estimator in terms of BER.

Visible light communication(VLC),which is a prominent emerging solution that complements the radio frequency(RF)technology,exhibits the potential to meet the demands of fifth-generation(5G)and beyond *** random movement of mobile terminals in the indoor environment is a challenge in the VLC *** model of optical attocells has a critical role in the uniform distribution and the quality of communication links in terms of received power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).As such,the optical attocells positions were optimized in this study with a developed try and error(TE)*** optimized optical attocells were examined and compared with previous *** novel approach had successfully increased minimum received power from−1.29 to−0.225 dBm,along with enhanced SNR performance by 2.06 *** bit error rate(BER)was reduced to 4.42×10−8 and 6.63×10−14 by utilizing OOK-NRZ and BPSK modulation techniques,*** optimized attocells positions displayed better uniform distribution,as both received power and SNR performances improved by 0.45 and 0.026,*** the results of the proposed model are optimal,it is suitable for standard office and room model applications.
