Video super-resolution (VSR) has gained significant attention due to its potential to enhance video quality. However, existing VSR models are often computationally heavy, limiting their practical application. To address this, we propose a two-step approach: applying 2D super-resolution (SR) followed by image-to-image conditional generation. Initial experiments using Mean Squared Error (MSE) show significant improvements. Replacing MSE with Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and blending it with Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) further enhances performance. Our method achieves superior results with reduced computational complexity, offering a practical solution for real-world VSR applications. This study explored the appropriate auxiliary information for target speaker extraction (TSE). In TSE, the conventional method involves using pre-recorded speech as an auxiliary signal. However, in multi-channel environments where spatial information is available, alternative approaches that utilize a rough pre-extraction of the target speech as an auxiliary signal are being explored. Pre-recorded speech is typically clean but contains different content, whereas pre-extracted speech has content aligned with the target but includes various types of distortion depending on the extraction method used. These two approaches differ in the characteristics of the auxiliary signals and the conditioning methods applied. Previous research has not thoroughly examined the relationship between the nature of auxiliary signals and TSE model performance. This study aims to explore the effective use of auxiliary signals in TSE models and to provide a comprehensive analysis of their impact. Through TSE experiments conducted in a multi-channel environment, we investigated the effects of auxiliary signals from three key perspectives: the trade-off between content consistency and distortion, the level of referencing, and the type of distortion.

We consider a status update system consisting of a finite-state Markov source, an energy-harvesting-enabled transmitter, and a sink. The forward and feedback channels between the transmitter and the sink are error-prone. We study the problem of minimizing the time average of a distortion function subject to an energy limitation constraint. Due to the error-prone feedback channel, the transmitter has only partial knowledge about the estimate of the source state at the sink. Therefore, we model the problem as a partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP), which is then cast as a belief-MDP problem. By truncating the belief-state space, we formulate a finite-state belief-MDP problem, which is then solved using the relative value iteration algorithm (RVIA). Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed policy compared to a baseline policy. © 2024 IEEE.

Fractional Doppler is always treated as a technical barrier in Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) transmission, for it will lead to extra Doppler spread. In this paper, we view fractional Doppler from a new perspective that it can be utilized for high-resolution Doppler-only positioning and adopt it in high-speed railway scenarios for positioning and velocity detection. The proposed method uses only Doppler shifts for positioning, instead of delay or any other angle-related measurement, and can effectively work without massive antenna arrays or large bandwidth. Correlation-based Doppler estimation, which is adopted for OTFS channel estimation, is adopted to obtain high-resolution fractional Doppler measurement. Then the Doppler-only positioning problem is transformed into a non-linear equation and solved by the Halley method. The simulation results verify that the proposed method, with just normal bandwidth as commercial communication systems, shows better performance than integer Doppler-based positioning and ultra-wide-band (UWB) time-of-arrival (TOA)-based method.

Digital technologies are becoming increasingly complex and integrated, leading to significant transformations in society and the economy. The article aims to explore and summarize the new opportunities and potential risks of the widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) in all aspects of life, to define the new skills and necessary knowledge of digital entrepreneurs and to highlight the need for transformation in modern education. Recognizing that the relationship between technology and business is two-way and becoming stronger, revealing that well-prepared employees are a guarantee of success and prosperity of companies in various fields, we try to focus on the main groups of qualities, skills and basic knowledge of students in the age of artificial intelligence. Acquiring downlink channel state information (CSI) is crucial for optimizing performance in massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems operating under Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD). Most cellular wireless communication systems employ codebook-based precoder designs, which offer advantages such as simpler, more efficient feedback mechanisms and reduced feedback overhead. Common codebook-based approaches include Type II and eType II precoding methods defined in the 3GPP standards. Feedback in these systems is typically standardized per subband (SB), allowing user equipment (UE) to select the optimal precoder from the codebook for each SB, thereby reducing feedback overhead. However, this subband-level feedback resolution may not suffice for frequency-selective channels. This paper addresses this issue by introducing an uplink CSI-assisted precoder upsampling module deployed at the gNodeB. This module upsamples SB-level precoders to resource block (RB)-level precoders, acting as a plug-in compatible with existing gNodeB or base stations. © 2024 IEEE.

In the current era of pervasive short video content, the exposure of passersby’s data frequently raises privacy concerns. Traditional anonymization techniques for passersby, like blurring and mosaicing, are often used before uploading such videos. However, these methods tend to degrade the informational richness of the visual content, markedly reducing the quality of the anonymized videos. Recent advancements of diffusion models have paved the way for text-guided image and video synthesis, yet applying these models to the anonymization of passersby poses three main challenges: i) bridging the domain gap between specific passersby data and high-quality image/video datasets that are used for pre-training diffusion models, ii) ensuring temporal consistency in the anonymized videos, and iii) preserving the integrity of video subjects’ content while exclusively anonymizing passersby-related information. To address these challenges, we propose the Passersby-Anonymizer, a novel diffusion-based framework for anonymizing identity-specific attributes in video content. At its core, our model introduces a spatial content adapter (SCA) to adapt to the visual patterns of passersby image datasets. We introduce a Temporal Content Stabilizer (TCS) to maintain the temporal consistency of the anonymized videos. Furthermore, we design a mask-aware training strategy that specifically targets the anonymization of the mask region while preserving the integrity of other contents. Our experimental evaluations demonstrate that our model effectively addresses the challenge of anonymizing passersby without compromising the informational integrity of the social videos. This paper proposes a novel automatic frequency control (AFC) for modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM). While MWHCDM is suitable for helicopter satellite communications, where rotor blades periodically block the transmission channel, it is affected by a time-varying Doppler shift due to helicopter maneuvers. The conventional AFC has a problem where its pull-in range is significantly narrower than the fluctuation range of the Doppler shift. The proposed AFC utilizes the structure of MWHCDM signals, and its operating range covers the fluctuation range with enough margin. computer simulation shows that the proposed AFC outperforms the conventional one on both operating/pull-in range and frequency estimation accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) is a promising solution for the degradation of bit error rate (BER) performance due to the periodic blockage (PB) of the channel caused by rotor blades in helicopter satellite communications. While zero-forcing (ZF) enhances the anti-PB capability of MWHCDM, it requires channel information. This paper proposes a channel estimation method for MWHCDM, discussing its application to initial acquisition. The proposed channel estimation method reproduces the transmitted signal from the received signal by utilizing the structure of MWHCDM signals. It estimates the channel information based on the cross-correlation coefficient between the reproduced transmitted signal and the received signal. computer simulation shows that introducing ZF combined with the proposed channel estimation method to initial acquisition significantly improves the acquisition performance in the PB channel, similar to the BER performance. © 2023 IEEE.
