In this paper,we elaborate on residual-driven Fuzzy C-Means(FCM)for image segmentation,which is the first approach that realizes accurate residual(noise/outliers)estimation and enables noise-free image to participate in *** propose a residual-driven FCM framework by integrating into FCM a residual-related regularization term derived from the distribution characteristic of different types of *** on this framework,a weighted?2-norm regularization term is presented by weighting mixed noise distribution,thus resulting in a universal residual-driven FCM algorithm in presence of mixed or unknown ***,with the constraint of spatial information,the residual estimation becomes more reliable than that only considering an observed image *** experiments on synthetic,medical,and real-world images are *** results demonstrate the superior effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm over its peers.

Simple, low-cost one-step fabrication donor-Acceptor hybrid thin films are highly desired for the practical realization of low-cost organic solar cells. In this work, oriented and hybrid thin films of P3HT/CdS were successfully fabricated by a solvent-free friction transfer (FT) method utilizing Cadmium xanthate [Cd(Xt)2] as CdS precursor and regioregular P3HT in a single step. Complete conversion of [Cd(Xt)2] to CdS with optical band gap of 2.53 eV after thermal annealing at 200 °C was confirmed by absorption spectral investigation. Polarized absorption spectral results revealed that FT-processed hybrid thin films of P3HT/CdS were oriented and extent of molecular orientation was enhanced after the thermal annealing at 200 °C. Highly oriented hybrid thin films with dichroic ratio of 6.95 was prepared under the optimum fabrication conditions such stage speed, stage temperature and applied load of 1200 mm/min, 85°C and 2.4 kg, respectively. © 2023 FTFMD.

Video game development process is different from other software projects while yet being related to them in software engineering. It is distinctive in that it incorporates the work of teams from several fields (art, music, acting, programming, etc.), and that it seeks to create a compelling gaming experience by using prototypes and iterations. This research study focuses on game development and how it is accomplished utilizing a game engine. The process of creating/developing games from a concept is known as game development. Game engines are software programs that help game developers create games. The literature study discusses about the various game engine. The utility of the “Unity” gaming engine is investigated in this paper. Unity may be utilized in different fields as study subjects, but there can be certain frequent benefits & obstacles of utilizing it in different case studies. Students learn which game engine to use based on their specific requirements.

The study investigates the accuracy of CST simulations in TEM mode and unit cell simulations for determining the refractive index (n) of materials. The results in TEM mode align with the expected properties of air, affirming the correctness of settings. However, when using unit cell simulations, the materials properties template inaccurately calculates n values, deviating from reality. Further examination reveals that unit cell simulations emit waves of different modes (TE, TM, or CP) instead of TEM, leading to inconsistencies. A revised equation is introduced to address this discrepancy, yielding results closer to actual n values. The importance of parameters like D and m is emphasized, as variations significantly impact the n values obtained. The introduced equation provides more accurate n cal-culations in unit cell simulations than the default CST template. © 2024 IEEE.

The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has led to an explosion of data generated at the edge of the network. This has led to the development of the IoT -Edge-Cloud continuum, where data is processed and analyzed across multiple layers of the network. However, this also poses significant security and privacy challenges, as sensitive data is transmitted across the network. In this paper, we propose the use of Pervasive Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the security and efficiency of the IoT -Edge-Cloud continuum. Pervasive AI can be used at each layer of the network to process and analyze data in real-time, reducing the amount of data that needs to be transmitted across the network. This can help to improve response times, reduce network traffic, and enhance security by keeping data localized. We also discuss the potential cybersecurity threats and future research directions for the use of Pervasive AI in the IoT - Edge-Cloud continuum. Our findings suggest that Pervasive AI has significant potential to enhance the security and efficiency of the IoT -Edge-Cloud continuum, and should be considered as a viable solution for future IoT deployments.

Damage detection is often performed by using non-destructive vibration-based testing of structures. computer modelling is often an essential part of the damage detection process where possible damage cases can be simulated and evaluated within an inverse problem of system identification. Detecting delamination via vibration-based methods is especially challenging because of the need for capturing the higher modes of vibration. The standard finite element simulation requires a high resolution of the discretization to capture natural frequencies and mode shapes of higher modes. Considering the need for repetitions of the structural analysis in inverse problems, computer modelling of the structure with conventional finite elements may become unfeasible. Spectral Finite Element Method offers computational economy by using frequency-dependent shape functions, which is adopted in this study as the analysis tool to model the free-vibration behaviour of laminated composite beams. The computational economy gained by using the Spectral Finite Element Method in determining the natural frequency response of the structures is illustrated. The Wittrick-Willams procedure is implemented to identify the natural frequencies from the frequency-dependent dynamic stiffness matrix of the system. The effect of delamination on natural frequencies of vibration and a modelling approach accounting interlaminar friction are illustrated and possible improvements in delamination modelling are discussed. © 2022 International Conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure: Transferring Research into Practice, SHMII. Social media and online platforms have become an integral part of the day-to-day life of the people and the organizations, which shows a lot of diversity. Many online platforms allow users to share media extensively, like images, videos, and audio but not all the media content shared on the internet is safe for work or should be restricted from particular platforms. Images with nudity are of big concern when it comes to online media sharing and social platforms must take serious measures to restrict users to share images with nudity. The rate of growth of nudity content over the internet or social media is very high. It affects the mental and physical health of individuals. In this paper, a novel method for nudity detection in images is presented. We aim to develop a Machine Learning algorithm for nudity detection in a community networking platform and how it should be integrated with such a platform so that posted images can be thoroughly checked for nudity and if detected how it should be dealt with.

Solving complex planning problems has been a long-standing challenge in computer science. Learning-based subgoal search methods have shown promise in tackling these problems, but they often suffer from a lack of completeness guarantees, meaning that they may fail to find a solution even if one exists. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to augment a subgoal search method to achieve completeness in discrete action spaces. Specifically, we augment the high-level search with low-level actions to execute a multi-level (hybrid) search, which we call complete subgoal search. This solution achieves the best of both worlds: the practical efficiency of high-level search and the completeness of low-level search. We apply the proposed search method to a recently proposed subgoal search algorithm and evaluate the algorithm trained on offline data on complex planning problems. We demonstrate that our complete subgoal search not only guarantees completeness but can even improve performance in terms of search expansions for instances that the high-level could solve without low-level augmentations. Our approach makes it possible to apply subgoal-level planning for systems where completeness is a critical requirement.

With the increasing availability of game engines and game engine content, it is becoming more and more cost effective for new simulators to use these game engines as starting building blocks. With decades of research and development already done in the gaming industry, existing game engines, like Unreal Engine and Unity, make use of powerful gaming technologies like physics, artificial intelligence (AI) and sound engines. Many of these game engines offer regular updates to meeting the changing demands and to embrace the latest technical advancements. Making use of these existing technologies, the cost and time to market of new simulation systems can be greatly reduced. In a previous paper, Unreal Engine was used to create an Unreal based simulator using High Level Architecture (HLA) and Real-Time Platform Reference Federation Object Model (RPR FOM). Using the Unreal Engine brought its own benefits and complications, related to both general simulation issues and lack of support in the Unreal Engine. This paper will go into more detail regarding experiences using Unreal Engine and Unity, the benefits and problems faced, and the findings from this academic project exploring innovative approaches to game engine interoperability for future solutions. An academic project in cooperation with Brunel University London undertook a study to replicate the work done with Unreal Engine within Unity. Using open standards, a Unity plugin was created to connect a Unity world to a HLA federation. This allowed Unreal Engine and Unity to connect to a HLA federation using RPR FOM and to communicate and interact with each other. As part of this study a number of tests were carried out using the Unity plugin. The plugin is able to send and receive object updates to achieve interoperability, this is also verified with the use of a cloud RTI. Testing on the plugin showed that the geospatial data conversion is accurate and Unity’s performance is not affected by use of the plugin. As with Unr
