In this work the Generalized Predictive control (GPC) is revisited in order to assess its capabilities in handling colored noise disturbances using a novel design procedure. The proposed method is investigated in a simulated case study of spacecraft emulation. Such emulation is proposed by combining a network-controlled quadcopter and a set of computer-based control algorithms that impose approximated spacecraft dynamics to the aerial system. The corresponding model was built upon real registered flight data. The contribution of this paper is twofold: first, we propose a novel GPC design in the colored noise case. Second, we assess the use of quadcopters to investigate spacecraft guidance and control algorithms. Simulation results confirmed the proposed methodology as a possible low-budget spacecraft-emulation alternative for a future experimental setup. One of the main findings of the current investigation is that no significant enhancements coming from the use of GPC in minimizing the chattering of the control signal under the colored noise disturbance case could be observed. An important discussion on this matter and possible solutions are presented for future investigations.

Despite the recent advanced safety systems utilizing expensive equipment such as Lidar or high resolution cameras, detecting vulnerable users in the blind-spots is a challenging task especially when LoS obstructed. To address this issue, we propose ultra-wide-band based outdoor localization to detect motorcyclists and cyclists in blind spots as well as a simulation architecture combining vehicle and traffic dynamics with wireless communication models. Our proposed approach offers an affordable solution without necessitating additional hardware by using cellphones of the vulnerable users as beacon sources. Finally, early simulation results show that UWB-based method locates motorcyclists with a similar accuracy when compared to LiDAR in LoS scenarios.

This paper introduces the design of a Prescribed Performance Neural Network Model Predictive control (PPNNMPC) tailored for a 4 Degrees of Freedom (DoF) robot manipulator in trajectory tracking applications. The design of the proposed controller is formulated using Model Predictive control (MPC) methodology, which has the advantage of predicting the system's future behavior to achieve optimal robot control. Then, the prescribed performance function is incorporated into the control law by integrating the transformed error in the optimization process. The Prescribed Performance Function (PPF) maintains the tracking error within predefined limits, enhancing the system's transient response. Furthermore, integrating Neural Networks (NN) and prescribed performance functions into the control law design mitigates the common computational time drawback associated with MPC. Simulation results emphasize the superior efficiency of the suggested controller in contrast to the traditional model predictive control, demonstrating reduced overshoot, small settling time, improved computational efficiency, and accurate tracking of desired set-points.

This paper reports on the design and development of a customized Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) solution aimed at detecting defects in a production line related to the correct mounting of integrated circuits. Contrary to most solutions avail- able on the market, the developed system relies on deep learning to be able to perform detailed real-time visual inspections of components without the need to compare the captured photos with any reference images/golden sample. The proposed solution was designed to also provide good generalization capabilities, accommodating visual changes in the environment and in the structure of the component being produced. A custom testing machine was built in order to perform real-time inferences and validate the simulation results in a real-world setting.

The article analyses the accuracy of contactless measurement of resonant frequency and quality factor of RFID transponders in a simplified measuring circuit that does not use an impedance meter nor vector network analyser. The described measurement does not use compensation for the influence of the measuring circuit on the results. This creates a systematic measurement error, the value of which is analysed. Such simplified measuring circuit is used for fast testing of the finalized RFID transponders in the factory when contact measurement is no longer possible. The measuring circuit works like a band-stop (notch) filter, and to measure the parameters of RFID transponders, it is sufficient to measure the absolute value of the transfer function, e.g. using a signal generator and a voltage level meter, but a spectrum analyser with a tracking generator can be faster alternative. The results of the analysis show the influence of individual parameters of the measuring circuit, including the parasitic ones, on the accuracy of the resonant frequency and quality factor measurement.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) based user identification has received considerable attention with the advent of wearable devices. It provides emerging applications including personal healthcare a convenient way to authenticate users as the process can be performed at the moment the user makes contact with the device. However, a recent study discovered that injecting noise into the signal transmitted from the user to an application can effectively hinder the classification process. Many efforts have been made to deal with this noise injection attack, but most approaches have focused on noise removal. In contrast, this paper proposes Defensive Adversarial Training (DAT), which involves training a model with various noisy data to enhance the robustness of deep learning-based identification algorithms. We used two types of noise, Gaussian and Laplacian, to create noisy data. In addition, a sliding-window technique was used to effectively extract useful features and to achieve better accuracy. Our simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach is highly robust to noise injection attacks and even against random noise. A comparative analysis with noise removal schemes also shows that the proposed DAT significantly enhances the robustness of ECG-based user identification. © 2022 IEEE.

Customer reviews on online platforms have grown to become an important source of insight into a company's performance. Food delivery services (FDS) companies aim to effectively use customers' feedback to identify areas for improvement of customer satisfaction. Although Arabic is becoming one of the most widely used languages on the Internet, only a few studies have focused on Arabic sentiment analysis to date. The present study conducts an extensive emotion mining and sentiment analysis on FDS-related reviews in Arabic, exploiting natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to extract information that reflects customers' subjective viewpoints, recognize their feelings, and determine polarity in the FDS domain. This work begins with collecting the FDS dataset (Talabat), and then extracting and creating a dialects lexicon for Arabic dialects, followed by walking the reader through detailed steps of cleaning and pre-processing a manually annotated dataset. Finally, we examined classification algorithms including Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM). We achieved a maximum accuracy of about 82% using the SVM classifier.

In this paper, to expand a control bandwidth of AC servo motor, a new current vector control considering an output delay of PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed current control is a I-P control with an additional feedback gain, which is based on an extended state feedback consisted from a d-q motor model, the output delay of PWM inverter and an integrator of ACR. In addition, the proposed method is easy to implement to the existing AC servo system. The effectiveness of proposed method is validated in a computer simulation and an experiments using a 3.7 kW class motor test bench. In the condition that a cut-off frequency of ACR is close to a carrier frequency, the simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at the higher cut-off frequency. Moreover, the experimental results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at each operating point. From the results, the proposed method is effective to the expand the bandwidth of AC servo motor.

DRAM vendors introduced On-Die Error Correction Codes (OD-ECC) to correct errors internally. Most OD-ECCs are based on Single Error Correction to correct individual bit errors. However, recent soft error experiments on HBM2 reveal that DRAM frequently experiences multi-bit errors, necessitating a stronger OD-ECC solution. This paper introduces a novel OD-ECC, EPA ECC, specifically designed to correct frequently-observed multi-bit error patterns. The key innovation of EPA ECC is the construction of multi-bit symbols aligned with common error patterns, and the application of Reed-Solomon codes to correct severe errors without increasing the redundancy ratio. Our evaluation demonstrates that EPA ECC provides higher memory reliability than the current SEC-DED OD-ECC without incurring significant system performance degradation.

As more information about people's health is gath-ered and analyzed, privacy concerns have become increasingly essential. This paper summarizes how machine learning (ML) methods are presently used to safeguard privacy in e-health apps. Furthermore, we discuss how privacy-preserving approaches such as differential privacy, secure multi-party computing, and homomorphic cryptography may be utilized to protect privacy in ML. The study also conducts an overview of the literature on how these methods can be used in various e- health scenarios, such as predictive modeling, disease detection, and clinical decision support. Based on the privacy-preserving technique, we classified current privacy-preserving ML work into four categories (i.e., data encryption, data anonymization, model encryption, and model obfuscation). Finally, the article discusses the challenges of applying privacy-preserving machine learning (PPML) in the e-health domain and what types of research could be conducted as open future problems in this field.
