In this study, a novel miniaturized G-inspired complementary split square ring resonator-based single negative (SNG) metamaterial (MTM) has been developed for wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi), internet of thing (IoT), and Satellite applications. Commercially available user-friendly computer simulation technology (CST-2019) electromagnetic simulator was used for the layout design and detailed analysis of the produced structure. The MTM unit cell size is 8×8 mm2, and it is integrated on a Rogers RO4350B dielectric substrate. A high effective medium ratio (EMR) is obtained from this structure;the value of it is 15.63. The effective medium parameters were extracted using the Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) approach. To design the recommended MTM, various parametric studies have been done. Over a wide frequency range, the constructed structure has negative permittivity and also the negative refractive index. The obtained transmission coefficient (S21) resonance frequencies are 2.40, 4.18, 6.57, and 10.36 GHz, which covers S-, C-, and X-bands. Since the size of the designed cell is small, high EMR, desired resonance frequency, and the maximum band have been found;hence it can be used in Wi-Fi, IoT, and satellite applications. © 2021 IEEE.

Among the most common issues to be faced in optical satellite communications, weather conditions play a fundamental role for a correct transmission of the information. In the case of heavy rain, hailstorm snow, or even dense clouds, a communication channel between the satellite and a optical ground station (OGS) may suffer significant interference, causing errors in delivering information. Since satellite transmissions cover in general very widespread areas, it usually happens that different zones are characterized by different weather conditions. This property is exploited by the site diversity technique, that tries to limit bad weather effects on the overall availability of the communication channel. When implementing such a site diversity technique, the satellite should be able to switch between the OGSs, by evaluating the rain events probability either through direct measurement campaigns or exploiting statistical models. The setup studied in this work involves a geostationary satellite equipped with two laser communication terminals (LCTs). In order to dynamically decide the OGSs to be pointed by those LCTs, a Deep-Learning based proactive control algorithm for site diversity, performing weather forecasting and consequent preventive LCT switching on the basis of current and past weather conditions has been developed. Simulative results show the ability of our proposed algorithm in achieving the maximum possible link availability, which is bounded by the weather conditions of all the OGSs.

In the inspection and diagnosis of concrete construction, crack detection is highly recommended in the earliest phases to prevent any potential risks later. However, the flaws in concrete surfaces cannot be reliably and effectively identified using traditional crack detection techniques. The suggested algorithm is a supportive tool for agents or authorities to use in crack detection mechanisms to monitor and assess the current condition of buildings or bridges. The researchers aim to establish an intelligent model for automatic crack detection on different concrete surfaces based on image processing technology. Three different concrete surfaces—bridge decks, walls, and concrete cubes—are used to test the model. A subset of the public dataset of bridge decks and walls from SDNET (2018) and 150*150*150 mm of concrete cubes taken from the material laboratory of the faculty of engineering at Ain Shams University are applied to the model. The model F1-score measures are 98.87%, 97.43%, and 74.11% for detecting cracks in bridges, walls, and concrete cubes, respectively. The validation of the applicability of the suggested novel approach is based on a comparison with recent methods for crack recognition. The contribution of this study is that it could be applied efficiently to three different types of concrete surfaces. The tremendous growth of the E-commerce industry over the last decade drew attention to the importance of understanding customers' behaviors and modeling user-system interactions to maximize customers' satisfaction by providing them the best user experience and gaining new customers to the e-commerce website. Within the scope of this study, software architecture _that can help us understand customers' purchase behaviors and then make a binary prediction based on their interactions with the system to determine whether a computer configuration will be bought_ is proposed and explained thor-oughly. For this purpose, machine learning algorithms are utilized to correctly model complex user-system interactions. A prototype of the proposed software architecture is developed using the latest technologies, and experimental studies are performed on top of this prototype in order to understand how successful our software architecture is. The conducted experimental results prove the efficiency of the proposed software architecture in real-world data, with 83% and 88% scores for the accuracy and F1-score metrics, respectively.

This paper presents details of a novel hardware and software architecture for locally and automatically recording air traffic operations data at general aviation airports, including those that primarily serve smaller aircraft and may not have any other means, such as control towers, to collect such data. The platform is based on ADS-B data collected at 1090 and 978 MHz. We describe its deployment on the Amazon Web Services cloud computing environment. Various pre-processing and filtering stages are demonstrated to clean up the data. Some techniques for dealing with unreliable data are described. Finally, we show how to use the resulting data to compile air traffic performance metrics of interest for small airports, including aircraft approach speeds and runway occupancy times. These metrics may then be used to support enhanced models of airport capacity for these facilities. © ATM 2021. All rights reserved.

Not a day goes by without some organization in the world being victimized by the theft of private data, resulting in heavy losses to both the organization and the owners of the data. For an organization, these losses include large expenditures to resume normal operation and damages to its reputation. For data owners, the losses may be financial, and may include identity theft. Security controls (e.g., encryption) help to secure vulnerabilities, but they are not foolproof. This paper proposes a design approach that minimizes the theft of private data from an organization by limiting as much as possible the quantity of such data that is stored on-premise or in the cloud, preferring instead to let the data remain on the user's computing device. This paper additionally presents an example of applying the approach to e-commerce.

Developments in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have the potential to revolutionize medical education, especially in the areas of Coronary Angiography and Cardiac Auscultation. By giving medical and nursing students realistic, interactive experiences, the suggested VR and AR settings seek to modernize medical education by addressing the issues regarding the lack of real-world practice. Interactive 3D models, such as a realistic virtual body, rotatable heart models, ECG recordings, and real-life heart sounds, are available in the VR Cardiac Auscultation Environment. With the use of these components, students can practice diagnosing diseases including bradycardia, tachycardia, and cardiac murmurs in a dynamic and risk-free setting, improving their diagnostic skills. Similar to this, the AR Cardiac Auscultation Application combines interactive quizzes, machine learning for diagnostic verification, and real-time ECG scans to provide a powerful tool for teaching students how to recognize and understand various heart diseases and noises, this also can be a verification tool for junior doctors. By giving students firsthand experience with intricate medical procedures, virtual reality and augmented reality platforms offer a compelling and realistic approach to medical education. According to the research, these instruments can greatly enhance diagnostic proficiency, which will ultimately result in better educational outcomes and more qualified healthcare workers.

Battery storage systems are increasingly being used in households with renewable energy generation in order to optimize the exchange of electrical energy with the network. This raises the question of how such battery storage systems affect flicker emission due to the additional power dynamics. This paper examines the influence of two commercial battery storage systems on flicker and harmonic emission using reproducible laboratory experiments. The results show that both systems have a small, but significant influence on flicker emission. The causes of the behavior are analyzed and shown. These results contribute to the understanding of power quality challenges in the context of increasing distributeed power generation and prosumer households.

The results of this study have been implemented on DNNSS simulation subsystem of multi-model complex nonlinear network. In this paper, the multi-model method is introduced to make the concept of the discontinuous right end of the simulation complex nonlinear system clear intuitive analysis applicability and description ability. This paper studies a series of theories and knowledge about the modeling and switching simulation of oil and gas dual-power system based on the association algorithm, reveals the concept and definition of the algorithm based on the association, and carries out the disposal of application cases of the modeling and switching simulation of oil and gas dual-power system. By oil and gas field power supply system for analysis of effect of oil and gas dual power supply system based on correlation algorithm to study the modeling and simulation of switching, test result shows that oil and gas dual power supply system based on correlation algorithm modeling and simulation in oil and gas field double switching power supply system in the agility, practicability, intelligent and robust reached 82.41%, 90.01%, 94.65%, 98.28%. © 2022 ACM.

This paper is devoted to the description of the adaptive modulation method for communication systems using signals with orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing. The present paper describes a method aimed at reducing the number of bit errors in signal transmission at low signal-to-noise ratio in channels with active interference, as well as multipath channels with unstable, rapidly changing characteristics. Reducing the probability of bit errors is one of the main tasks in the design of communication systems, along with increasing the data rate, reducing delay and increasing the number of users. Therefore, finding ways to optimally use the frequency-time resource for data transmission is an urgent task. The presented adaptive modulation technique uses pilot symbols to estimate the data link and compute maximum error vector magnitude. The proposed method made it possible to reduce the probability of a bit error by 15% compared to existing methods. Also, the presented method showed a spectral efficiency 1.5 times greater than the considered methods. © 2022 IEEE.
