The eBPF technology enables the creation of custom and highly efficient network services, running in the Linux kernel, tailored to the precise use case under consideration. However, the most prominent examples of such network services in eBPF follow a monolithic approach, in which all required code is created within the same program block. This makes the code hard to maintain, to extend, and difficult to reuse in other use cases. This paper leverages the Polycube framework to demonstrate that a disaggregated approach is feasible also with eBPF, with minimal overhead, introducing a larger degree of code reusability. This paper considers a complex network scenario, such as a complete network provider for Kubernetes, presenting the resulting architecture and a preliminary performance evaluation.

To avoid a long period of no-pulse in a synchronized system for free-space quantum key distribution, a system based on a de Bruijn sequence was *** this system on-off pulse is used to simulate a \emph{zero} and on-on pulse is used to simulate a \emph{one}.However, these proposed sequences have high redundancy and low rate. To reduce the redundancy and increase the rate,run-length limited sequences in the de Bruijn graph are proposed in this work for the same *** maximum length of such sequences in the de Bruijn graph is studied and an efficient algorithm to construct a large set of these sequencesis presented. Currently, the use of terrestrial laser scanners (TLSs) for point cloud recording is widespread in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), with dimensional tolerance requirements ranging from a few millimeters to several centimeters. The technical specifications of TLSs define the nominal three-dimensional (3D) point accuracy based on distance. In practice, both the design of the TLS and the proprietary software calculation algorithms are key factors in the competition between manufacturers and are therefore not public. This, together with the multiple determinants of each type of work, makes it difficult to assume those values;so, it becomes necessary to use external models to study TLS error sources and standardized evaluation test procedures to determine and evaluate the precision of a TLS and its measurement uncertainties. In this work, we use the international standard ISO 17123-9 to evaluate a Leica TLS RTC360 scanner. We consider observation distances from 10 to 50 m, and use targets with different sizes and reflectance values measured with a Micro-Hyperspec hyperspectral camera. The results show that the use of optimal materials increases the range of the instrument used to automatically detect targets. Additionally, the uncertainties range between 2.7 and 3.9 mm (distances between 10 and 40 m), reaching values of 7.7 mm when the distance is extended to 50 m. Finally, some recommendations for improving the field procedure of this standard are described, with a focus on the interests of surveyors and highlighting the importance of the type of target used. © 2025 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by repetitive and characteristic patterns of behavior as well as social communication and interaction impairments. Nowadays ASD is a great concern worldwide and its detection is an important issue for the better treatment. As ASD is neurodevelopmental disorder, brain signals play, especially electroencephalography (EEG), is shown potential sources for ASD detection. There are different approaches for ASD detection with processing and/or transforming EEG signals. This study investigated ASD detection employing fractal dimension measure on EEG data. Higuchi's Fractal Dimension (HFD) is measured in resting-state eyes-closed EEG recording of 25 subjects. It is identified that HFD is sensitive to the brain activity and ASD detection is possible from HFD values. © 2021 IEEE.

We review our recent work in machine learning and neuromorphic processing for the mitigation of transmission impairments at very high baud rates. Bidirectional recurrent neural networks and neuromorphic recurrent spectral slicers emerge as promising solutions for mid-term deployment in long-haul and short-reach communication systems respectively.

Free-space quantum key distribution requires to synchronize the transmitted and received signals. A timing and synchronization system for this purpose based on a de Bruijn sequence has been proposed and studied recently for a channel associated with quantum communication that requires reliable synchronization. To avoid a long period of no-pulse in such a system on-off pulses are used to simulate a zero and on-on pulses are used to simulate a one. However, these sequences have high redundancy and low rate. To reduce the redundancy and increase the rate, run-length limited sequences in the de Bruijn graph are proposed for the same purpose. The maximum length of such sequences in the de Bruijn graph is studied and an efficient algorithm to construct a large set of these sequences is presented. Based on known algorithms and enumeration methods, maximum length sequence for which the position of each window can be computed efficiently is presented and an enumeration on the number of such sequences is given. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper develops a novel approach for online Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery model identification and state of charge (SOC) estimation. To account for the SOC-dependent battery dynamics and the static nonlinearity between the open-circuit voltage (OCV) and SOC, we formulate a grey box nonlinear state-space model, in which elements depend on SOC in a polynomial way. For model identification, we propose an online concurrent state and parameter estimation by alternating the recursive least squares algorithm and particle filter; the SOC is computed via Coulomb counting during the modeling. The identified grey box model is then applied for SOC estimation using the particle filter. Simulation with real-world battery measurements demonstrates the effectiveness of the model structure and the estimation approach, which is reflected in accurate terminal voltage estimation and nonlinear OCV-SOC relation, and superior performance regarding SOC estimation compared to state-of-the-art approaches.

To assist Java programming learning of novice students, we have developed the web-based Java Programming Learning Assistant System (JPLAS). It provides various exercise problems to cultivate code reading and code writing skills to support studies at various levels. The code writing problem (CWP) asks a student to write a source code to pass the given test code where the correctness is verified by running them on JUnit. Previously, we implemented the answer platform for students to solve CWP assignments with the automatic runs. However, the teacher needs to manually run them one by one to verify a lot of source codes from students. In this paper, we implement the answer code validation program that automatically verifies all the source codes for one test code and reports the number of tests that each code passed with the CSV file. For evaluations, we applied the program to a total of 999 source codes from 12-43 students for a total of 45 test codes that were assigned in the Java programming course in Okayama university, including for final examinations. The application results confirm the validity and effectiveness of the proposal.

Accurate frequency generation is crucial for the hardware implementation of a grid-forming inverter (GFM). Unlike grid-following inverters (GFL), the phase angle and frequency generation in GFMs rely entirely on on-device computation and the crystal oscillator. Due to inaccuracies in the crystal oscillator and floating point quantization errors, the frequency of GFM inverters can drift. This drift can cause power sharing inequalities and interactions in multi-loop GFM control, leading to instability during operation. This issue applies to all microcontrollers and simulations that use 32-bit floating-point arithmetic for control algorithms. In this paper, we demonstrate a case study of frequency drifting in GFM inverters caused by floating point computation errors. We propose two solutions to solve the frequency drift issue in GFM. Finally, we present how the proposed GFM clock generators improve droop control power sharing and solve multi-loop GFM control interactions due to frequency drifting. Hardware and simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.

Social assistive robots usually encompass a great compromise between the advanced perception models that one can use and their computing capabilities. The ideal approaches are always oriented towards low power consumption while maintaining a higher order of responsiveness to the surroundings. Therefore, we present in this paper, an improvement of the follow-me system on ASTRO. In detail, we propose the use of Mediapipe SDK for human detection and tracking, when ASTRO is meant to accompany someone that is walking. A study on the new velocity and distance profiles that the robot keeps from the individuals is presented and we have also evaluated how it affects their perception of being safe. The presented results show that our new approach allows the system to achieve real-time performance by becoming $\approx 9.1\times \mathbf{faster}$ , smoothing, and keeping a more natural distance from the user.
