Advanced technologies like reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO), and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are crucial for the upcoming 6G communications landscape, particularly for IoT applications. This study uniquely explores the effects of RIS dynamics on the performance of mMIMO downlink (DL) cooperative NOMA systems in dense IoT environments. It introduces a novel methodology for modeling dynamic traffic distribution and integrating RIS, focusing on key performance metrics such as network capacity, spectral efficiency (SE), latency, and energy efficiency (EE). Various scenarios are evaluated, considering different distributions of IoT devices and signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). Using simulation software, the research analyzes performance under unstable channel conditions with varying device distances, speeds, and power locations, employing 256-QAM modulation and successive interference cancellation (SIC). The results demonstrate that dynamic RIS significantly enhances capacity, spectrum efficiency, latency, and EE, paving the way for optimized IoT network architecture in future wireless systems.

The power market is becoming more complex as independent small producers are entering it but their energy offerings are often based on alternative sources which may be dependent on transient weather conditions. Power market auction behavior is a typical large-scale system characterized by huge amounts of data and information that have to be taken into consideration to make decisions. Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM) offer a method for using the knowledge and experience of domain experts to describe the behavior of a complex system. This paper discusses FCM representation and development, and describes the use of FCM to develop a behavioral model of the system. This paper then presents the soft computing approach of FCM for modeling complex power market behavior. The resulting FCM models a variety of factors that affect individual participant behaviors during power auctions and provides an abstract conceptual model of the interacting entities for a specific case problem.

In this paper, a comprehensive control scheme for a delta-connected cascaded h-bridge (CHB) converter based static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) is presented, especially focusing on improving dynamic performance by novel feedforward control method. The method can conspicuously improve the dynamics of circulating current regulation of delta connected CHB STATCOM especially under grid fault condition as well as load unbalance without excessive DC cell capacitor voltage fluctuation. The full scaled simulation results and the down scaled experimental results verify that stable operation is guaranteed for both emulated grid and load unbalance conditions.

Project management is a complex process impacted by numerous factors either from the external environment and/or internal factors completely or partially under the project manager's control. Managing projects successfully involves a complex amalgamation of comprehensive, informed planning, dynamic assessment and analysis of changes in external and internal factors, and the development and communication of updated strategies over the life of the project. Project management involves the interaction and analysis of many systems and requires the continuous integration and evaluation of large amounts of information. Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM) allow us to encode project management knowledge and experiential results to create a useful model of the interacting systems. This paper covers the representation and development of a construction project management FCM that provides an integrated view of the most important concepts affecting construction project management and risk management. This paper then presents the soft computing approach of FCM to project management (PM) modeling and analysis. The resulting PM-FCM models the interaction of internal and external factors and offers an abstract conceptual model of interacting concepts for construction project management application.

Diversity has been used as an effective criteria to optimise test suites for cost-effective testing. Particularly, diversity-based (alternatively referred to as similarity-based) techniques have the benefit of being generic and applicable across different systems Under Test (SUT), and have been used to automatically select or prioritise large sets of test cases. However, there is a challenge in how to present diversity information to developers and testers since results are typically many-dimensional. Furthermore, the generality of diversity-based approaches makes it harder to choose when and where to apply them. In this paper we address these challenges by investigating: i) what are the trade-offs in using different sources of diversity (e.g., diversity of test requirements or test scripts) to optimise large test suites, and ii) how visualisation of test diversity data can assist testers for test optimisation and improvement. We perform a case study on three industrial projects and present quantitative results on the fault detection capabilities and redundancy levels of different sets of test cases. Our key result is that test similarity maps, based on pair-wise diversity calculations, helped industrial practitioners identify issues with their test repositories and decide on actions to improve. We conclude that the visualisation of diversity information can assist testers in their maintenance and optimisation activities.

In this research study, a comparative analysis is presented that analyze the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in two distinct communication systems Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and a Local Acoustic Channel. This study incorporates insights from the BELLHOP model to enhance understanding of sound propagation in dept. of water and guide the adaptation of OFDM for optimized communication. From simulated experiments, evaluate the performance of OFDM is assessed in the presence of local acoustic channel and AWGN, the important parameters like signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate (BER). The system of BELLHOP provides valuable context in the comparative analysis, highlighting the result of environmental factors on the performance of OFDM. The study not only contributes to the ongoing efforts in advancing underwater communication technique but also emphasizes the significance of tailored approach’s in different underwater scenarios, ultimately having the way for more robust and efficient communication systems beneath the waves. Through a comparative analysis between AWGN and a local acoustic channel, results show that the system achieves a BER of 10 −3 at SNR of 10 in local acoustic channel, while in the AWGN, a similar BER is achieved at SNR of 16.

An approach for robustness analysis of non-dominated solutions to a multi-objective optimization model of an energy management system aggregator (EMSA) in face of uncertainty is presented. The EMSA is an intermediary entity between households and the System Operator (SO), capable of contributing to balance load and supply, and therefore coping with the intermittency of renewable energy sources (RES) and facilitating a load follows supply strategy in a Smart Grid environment. Household clusters provide load flexibility to satisfy system services requested by the SO, involving decreasing or increasing load in specific time slots. The EMSA multi-objective optimization model considers the maximization of profits and the minimization of the imbalance between the amounts of load flexibility provided by the end-user clusters to satisfy SO requests, taking into account revenues from the SO and payments to the clusters. A hybrid evolutionary approach combining Genetic Algorithms (GA) with Differential Evolution (DE) has been designed to deal with this model, and its behaviour subject to different scenarios of uncertainty is evaluated. The robustness analysis of non-dominated solutions produced by the hybrid evolutionary approach is based on the degree of robustness concept, taking into account the changes in the performance of the objective functions when small perturbations of the model nominal coefficients occur.

This article presents a control design method for simultaneous shaping of the poles and zeros of linear time-invariant systems, motivated by the application of non-collocated vibration suppression to flexible multi-body systems. An entire suppression of vibrations at a target mass for a given excitation frequencies can be recast into the problem of assigning zeros of the transfer function from the excitation force to the target mass' position. The design requirement of achieving sufficient damping in the closed loop system combined with suppressing vibrations at the target, leads to the minimization of the spectral abscissa function of the closed loop system as a function of the controller parameters, subject to zero location constraints. These constraints exhibit polynomial dependence on the controller parameters. We present two approaches to solve the optimization problem which are both based on constraint elimination followed by application of an algorithm for non-smooth unconstrained optimization. The design approach is applicable to delay-free models as well as time-delay models of retarded and neutral type. Simulations results illustrate its applicability to a spring-mass-damper system.

The central aim of this research is to propose a solution to rehabilitate historic places using a robotic manipulator. In this pursuit, the objective is to clean flat or curved surfaces of mihrab/muqarnas and to write lost Arabic inscriptions on spandrel using 7 Degree of freedom (DOF) robotic manipulator. Inverse kinematics solution for 7 DOF is derived by fixing redundant joint and solving the remaining 6 DOF inverse kinematics. Image processing techniques are used to get data from the given image for the robotic calligraphy operation on the spandrel to restore the lost inscriptions. Path planning exercise is implemented to navigate the end-effector on the desired path to write lost inscriptions and to clean curved surfaces of muqarnas. Proposed solutions are verified by simulation using MATLAB. The results showed that the manipulator successfully tracked the given path to perform the desired operation in mihrab as well as calligraphy operation on spandrel.
