This paper reports on the design and development of a customized Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) solution aimed at detecting defects in a production line related to the correct mounting of integrated circuits. Contrary to most solutions avail- able on the market, the developed system relies on deep learning to be able to perform detailed real-time visual inspections of components without the need to compare the captured photos with any reference images/golden sample. The proposed solution was designed to also provide good generalization capabilities, accommodating visual changes in the environment and in the structure of the component being produced. A custom testing machine was built in order to perform real-time inferences and validate the simulation results in a real-world setting.

The measurement of the dynamic parameters of vehicle motion is usually carried out by measuring the velocity of motion, accelerations and angular velocities in all three axes. For research applications, e.g. the DAS-3 with microwave velocity sensor from Corrsys Datron GmbH (now part of the Kistler Group) and the PicDaq5 from Dr. Steffan Datentechnik GmbH are used for this purpose. If the movement of the vehicle also needs to be documented by video, these three measuring devices need to be synchronized in time, e.g. by light pulses for the video and electrical pulses for the speed and acceleration meters. This paper describes the technical solution of the synchronization device, triggered manually during driving tests or by a ribbon switch in the case of measurements during crash tests.

This paper explores feedback controller design for cavity flows based on reduced-order models derived using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) along with Galerkin projection method. Our preliminary analysis shows that the equilibrium of the POD model is unstable and a static output feedback controller cannot stabilize it. We develop Linear Quadratic (LQ) optimal state feedback controllers and LQ optimal observers for the linearized models. The linear controllers and observers are applied to the nonlinear system using simulations. The controller robustness is numerically tested with respect to different POD models generated at different forcing frequencies. An estimation for the region of attraction of the linear controllers is also provided.

The purpose of this paper is to design a neural network controller for a nonlinear system with uncertainties which are invariant or repetitive over repeatedly executed tasks such that the maximum tracking errors can be kept within a predefined region through an iterative learning or training process. The desired trajectory is segmented and for each segment a local neural network is constructed. The training of the local neural networks is done iteratively as the task repeats. Meanwhile, the training is segment-wise progressed from the starting segment to the ending one. The accurate tracking of the whole desired trajectory is thus accomplished in a step-by-step or segment-by-segment manner. As an application example, a robot visual servoing control problem is considered with an unknown system structure and camera parameters.

The paper proposes to change the bit-dept. of the original data sequence as a preprocessing of the measuring data, which is carried out before the compression procedure. In this case the digit capacity conversion is performed without accounting for the primary data sample boundaries. The simulation was carried out in the Matlab software environment. The findings of the authors’ research are presented. They prove to be a promising approach for some types of the studied data at least and several digit capacity values. The analysis of autocorrelation function values showing the data correlation revealed by the conversion is used as an assessment of perspective of the active conversion. In this article the authors review the values of secondary maximums of autocorrelation function. Their occurrence shows the demonstration of the implied correlative correspondence. Such correlations can potentially allow the converted data to be compressed more effectively than the original data using the known compression methods.

Under the skin effect caused by the alternating electromagnetic field, the transmission line parameters changes with frequency, and different line resistivity, surge impedance, wave speed are presented in one line under the different frequency bands of signal. This phenomenon is usually called Frequency transmission characteristic, which is mainly discussed in this paper. This paper first studied the line resistivity, wave speed and surge impedance of zero-mode component and line-mode component in different frequency bands. Then, the line structure and its effection on Frequency transmission characteristic are presented. Last, the frequency transmission characteristic on a certain line fault is discussed based on a typical distribution system model. The research in this paper is meaningful for future study on the fault feeder selection and fault location technology based on traveling wave in the distribution system.

This paper deals with an optical switching problem concerning an architecture represented by input-output request matrix. New algorithms such as LS, Q-family and J-family are presented and thoroughly studied. J-family algorithms are some modifications of the well known Double algorithm. The study focuses on comparison between the considered algorithms and known algorithms such as Double and Exact. The local comparison criteria consist of the number of decomposed matrices, the number of empty slots, the total time of decomposition and excess. As the global index of performance the weighted penalty is introduced, which comprises local criteria. The properties of the proposed algorithms are shown on examples, where matrices with various elements are decomposed into permutation matrices (switch configurations). An idea of experimentation system and some results of investigations are presented. The properties of the considered algorithms are discussed, especially significant results for LS algorithm are described.

The article analyses the accuracy of contactless measurement of resonant frequency and quality factor of RFID transponders in a simplified measuring circuit that does not use an impedance meter nor vector network analyser. The described measurement does not use compensation for the influence of the measuring circuit on the results. This creates a systematic measurement error, the value of which is analysed. Such simplified measuring circuit is used for fast testing of the finalized RFID transponders in the factory when contact measurement is no longer possible. The measuring circuit works like a band-stop (notch) filter, and to measure the parameters of RFID transponders, it is sufficient to measure the absolute value of the transfer function, e.g. using a signal generator and a voltage level meter, but a spectrum analyser with a tracking generator can be faster alternative. The results of the analysis show the influence of individual parameters of the measuring circuit, including the parasitic ones, on the accuracy of the resonant frequency and quality factor measurement.
