Due to the overwhelming characteristics of the Internet of Things(IoT)and its adoption in approximately every aspect of our lives,the concept of individual devices’privacy has gained prominent attention from both customers,i.e.,people,and industries as wearable devices collect sensitive information about patients(both admitted and outdoor)in smart healthcare *** addition to privacy,outliers or noise are among the crucial issues,which are directly correlated with IoT infrastructures,as most member devices are resource-limited and could generate or transmit false data that is required to be refined before processing,i.e.,***,the development of privacy-preserving information fusion techniques is highly encouraged,especially those designed for smart IoT-enabled *** this paper,we are going to present an effective hybrid approach that can refine raw data values captured by the respectivemember device before transmission while preserving its privacy through the utilization of the differential privacy technique in IoT *** window,i.e.,δi based dynamic programming methodology,is implemented at the device level to ensure precise and accurate detection of outliers or noisy data,and refine it prior to activation of the respective transmission ***,an appropriate privacy budget has been selected,which is enough to ensure the privacy of every individualmodule,i.e.,a wearable device such as a smartwatch attached to the patient’s *** contrast,the end module,i.e.,the server in this case,can extract important information with approximately the maximum level of ***,refined data has been processed by adding an appropriate nose through the Laplace mechanism to make it useless or meaningless for the adversary modules in the *** proposed hybrid approach is trusted from both the device’s privacy and the integrity of the transmitted information *** and analytical results ha

Immersive technology has developed and impacted the revolution in the medical education sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required adaptation to new learning methods. Medical education requires intensive learning, such as face-to-face meetings with teachers and supporting equipment. During the pandemic, most learning activities use online video meetings and video learning. The learning method may be helpful for theory-based learning, but in practice-based education, several aspects, such as the absence of supporting equipment, must be considered. In this paper, the author designs a learning scenario in the medical field, namely a simulation of infusion installation on the web XR platform and VR applications. Here, we will show how these two immersive technologies differ and a more effective platforms for use in virtual simulation-based learning scenarios. The Native VR applications can only be run on VR devices, while WebXR is a multi-cross platform that can run on PCVR, Android as AR devices, Oculus Quest 2 as VR devices, Magic Leap 1, and HoloLens 2 as MR devices. The author will also evaluate using the PIECES framework to get test results between the two platforms. The satisfaction predicate on VR application has a higher overall average with 4.7 meanwhile the WebXR overall average value is 4.35. © 2022 IEEE.

This Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) uses technology to improve the well-being, autonomy, and security of seniors and disabled individuals. AAL services depend on Human Activity Recognition to detect human behaviors from sensor data. Compared to single-view models, multi-view HAR, which aggregates data from multiple sensors, provides improved accuracy and reliable detection. In this review, we assess recent progress in multi-view HAR for AAL, focusing on the value of lightweight deep learning models. We cover the development of HAR systems, as well as the emergence of multi-view datasets and highly efficient deep learning models that are explicitly designed for AAL scenarios. Furthermore, we address problems such as data synchronization, data protection, and adaptability, as well as possible remedies like sensor fusion and transfer learning. As a result, we also demonstrate the potential of multi-view HAR to increase AAL services and outlining future research trends in providing adaptive, efficient, and privacy-aware systems.

Vehicular communication is the backbone of future Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS).It offers a network-based solution for vehicle safety,cooperative awareness,and traffic management *** safety applications,Basic Safety Messages(BSM)containing mobility information is shared by the vehicles in their neighborhood to continuously monitor other nearby vehicles and prepare a local traffic *** are shared using mode 4 of Cellular V2X(C-V2X)communications in which resources are allocated in an ad hoc ***,the strict packet transmission requirements of BSM and hidden node problem causes packet collisions in a vehicular network,thus reducing the reliability of safety ***,as vehicles choose the transmission resources in a distributed manner in mode 4 of CV2X,the packet collision problem is further *** paper presents a novel solution in the form of a Space Division Multiple Access(SDMA)protocol that intelligently schedules BSM transmissions using vehicle position data to reduce concurrent transmissions from hidden node *** proposed protocol works by dividing road segments into clusters and *** sub-frames are allocated to a cluster and these sub-frames are reused after a certain *** a cluster,sub-channels are allocated to *** implement the proposed SDMA protocol and evaluate its performance in a highway vehicular *** results show that the proposed SDMA protocol outperforms standard Sensing-Based Semi Persistent Scheduling(SB-SPS)in terms of safety range and packet delay.

The paper deals with the problem of high-precision positioning for mobile objects moving along program trajectories. An equation describing the dynamics of changing the spatial coordinates of the object based only on satellite measurements and invariant to its physical and technical characteristics is obtained. In addition, an equation of the spatial coordinates observer, also invariant to the design features of the object, is constructed on the basis of primary pseudodistance measurements. The peculiarity of application of this approach in the considered case is its complementation with the idea of approximation of a priori (programmed) trajectory of a mobile object by a set of trajectory intervals described by the given analytical models in the object coordinate space. As such trajectory intervals, the paper considers orthodromic (shortest) and circular intervals, which are the most typical for programme trajectories of transport objects (highways, railways, airlines, etc.). Analytical dependences of spatial coordinates are obtained for circular intervals. Since approximation by the specified trajectory intervals can be easily implemented using electronic maps, in general, the integration of electronic map information and nonlinear filtering algorithms in the processing of primary satellite measurements makes it possible to drastically reduce computational costs when estimating the current coordinates of a mobile object while significantly improving positioning accuracy compared to traditional methods of processing satellite messages. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated by a numerical example.

The challenge faced by the visually impaired persons in their day-today lives is to interpret text from *** this context,to help these people,the objective of this work is to develop an efficient text recognition system that allows the isolation,the extraction,and the recognition of text in the case of documents having a textured background,a degraded aspect of colors,and of poor quality,and to synthesize it into *** system basically consists of three algorithms:a text localization and detection algorithm based on mathematical morphology method(MMM);a text extraction algorithm based on the gamma correction method(GCM);and an optical character recognition(OCR)algorithm for text recognition.A detailed complexity study of the different blocks of this text recognition system has been *** this study,an acceleration of the GCM algorithm(AGCM)is *** AGCM algorithm has reduced the complexity in the text recognition system by 70%and kept the same quality of text recognition as that of the original *** assist visually impaired persons,a graphical interface of the entire text recognition chain has been developed,allowing the capture of images from a camera,rapid and intuitive visualization of the recognized text from this image,and text-to-speech *** text recognition system provides an improvement of 6.8%for the recognition rate and 7.6%for the F-measure relative to GCM and AGCM algorithms.

Addressing its growing number and vital role, decentralization of cloud computing becoming a necessity. Fog computing aims to bring application closer to the data source-typically at the network's edge by leveraging local resources to provide faster data processing and decision-making. Fog computing then has to place application strategically to use its limited fog resource to improve application performance metrics. This problem known as Fog Application Placement Problem (FAPP) has been approached using previous methods that rely on rules and prior knowledge that may not be adaptive, but rather being overly specialized to specific problems. Deep learning with its learning mechanism, can offer more adaptable and dynamic solutions for a wide range of scenarios, especially in fog network that continuously evolve. This research investigate Seq2seq placement model inherent limitations, notably the impracticality of generating every possible pattern from all potential request configurations. We aim to address and answer the following critical questions: 1) How does the model's performance vary when confronted with unseen requests or an augmented number of modules, especially considering the limitations in training data?;2) Can the seq2seq model, even with its training limitations, adhere to the heuristic rules of the dataset when dealing with unfamiliar problems? This research shows that in similar availability, there is a reduction of almost half of the response time with 183.03 ms, 2.93 number of hops, and 0.87 megabyte of transmitted messages against the hop3 algorithm. Moreover, we highlight the ability of seq2seq model to follow heuristic rules in unseen scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

Indonesia has been participating at the International Olympiad in informatics (IOI) since 1995. The process of selecting the four contestants remains unchanged. All medalists in the national level competition were invited to take a series of training camps to select competitively the candidates. In the first two decades of participation in IOI, Indonesia have collected two gold medals, and these surprising achievements were merely more because of luck, and not as a result of a reliable training/selection process. We believe reliable and good training is a basis to predict and expect a stable achievement. Through careful observations and reflections, a change of course of action is needed to bring Indonesia’s achievement to the next level. This paper shares Indonesia’s experience in changing and implementing strategies during the national training camps to better prepare the four contestants to IOI. What are the changes taken by the coaching team that have been exercised that made it possible for Indonesia to achieve three gold in the last four consecutive years? © 2023 IOI, Vilnius University.

This paper presents an experimental study that compares the performance of four selected metaheuristic algorithms for optimizing a time delay system model. Time delay system models are complex and challenging to optimize due to their inherent characteristics, such as non-linearity, multi-modality, and constraints. The study includes an explanation of the choice and core functionality of the selected algorithms, which are both baseline and state-of-the-art variants of self-organizing migrating algorithm (SOMA), state-of-the-art variant from the Success-History-based Adaptive Differential Evolution family of algorithms, with emphasis on diverse search (DISH algorithm), and Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) algorithm. The hyperparameters of the metaheuristic algorithms were set using the iRace automatic algorithm configuration framework. The paper emphasizes the importance of metaheuristic algorithms in control engineering for time-delay systems to develop more effective and efficient control strategies and precise model identifications. The experimental results highlight the effectiveness of the state-of-the-art algorithms with specific adaptive mechanisms like population organization process, diverse search and adaptation mechanisms ensuring a gradual transition from exploration to exploitation. Overall, this study contributes to understanding the challenges and advantages of using metaheuristic algorithms in control engineering for time delay systems. The results provide valuable insights into the performance of modern metaheuristic algorithms and can help guide the selection of appropriate adaptive mechanisms of metaheuristics. © 2023 IEEE.

Social interactions hold immense significance in the lives of individuals. Children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may face difficulties when engaging in social situations. These challenges often manifest as neurodivergent behaviours and a reduced willingness to engage in social sharing. Sharing is an integral aspect of social interaction. A lack of awareness or a limited inclination to share can hinder the acquisition of vital social skills. In this paper, a virtual reality (VR) application inspired by the Social Story™ intervention is presented. The aim of the work is to help children with ASD understand social scenarios and gain sharing skills. The application can be used in two configurations: 2D screen and head-mounted display (HMD). Since the system is being designed for a vulnerable group, as part of the iterative application design process, we solicited opinions from six expert professionals who work with children with ASD. They tested, evaluated (questionnaires and physiological data capture) and provided open feedback on the system. The key recommendation from the expert assessors is that the HMD-based interventions are more suitable as an advanced teaching tool for showing skills and knowledge, whereas screen-based interventions could be used for daily practice in children with ASD. Experts evaluated the two configurations from three factors: immersion, enjoyment, and comprehension. In terms of physiological responses, there was a greater increase in electrodermal activity (EDA) responses for the HMD-based intervention compared to the 2D intervention. The significant potential of such a system was highlighted by the expert users.
