INTRODUCTION: The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it not only a global health crisis but also an infodemic characterized by the rampant spread of misinformation on social media platforms. OBJECTIVES: In response to the urgent need for effective misinformation detection, this study presents a comprehensive approach harnessing machine learning and deep learning techniques, culminating in ensemble methods, to combat the proliferation of COVID-19 misinformation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. METHODS: Drawing from a rich dataset comprising user comments on these platforms, encompassing diverse COVID-19-related discussions, our research applies Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision tree, logistic regression, and neural networks to perform in depth analysis and classification of comments into two categories: positive and negative information. The innovation of our approach lies in the final phase, where we employ ensemble methods to consolidate the strengths of various machine learning and deep learning algorithms. This ensemble approach significantly improves the model’s overall accuracy and adaptability. RESULTS: Experimental results underscore the efficacy of our methodology, showcasing marked improvements in detection performance compared to individual models. After applying ensemble learning, we achieve an accuracy of 91% for Facebook data, 79% for Instagram data, 80% for Twitter data and 95% for YouTube data. CONCLUSION: Our system not only aids in curbing the dissemination of COVID-19 misinformation but also provides a robust framework for addressing misinformation across various contexts on social media platforms. © 2024 J. Extracting useful patient information from a multitude of web pages and traditional hospital systems, and afterwards displaying these search results in a comprehensible manner, is a challenging undertaking. This is achieved via the implementation of conventional methodologies that aid in the anticipation of infections and ailments, such as heart attacks and several others. However, a disheartening aspect is that these conventional approaches were inadequate in detecting early indications of the human health system. The resolution to this issue may be found by utilizing an agent-based integration method, facilitated by the utilization of ontologies. This research focuses on the integration of data linked to human health, both structured and unstructured, using a suggested system that utilizes ontological-based agents. These agents work together to coordinate and semantically integrate external data sources. The process of integrating data leads to the derivation of new knowledge based on a set of rules, so transforming it into a multi-agent decision support system. The algorithm under consideration demonstrates the capability to forecast individuals'health state by analyzing their performed activities. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of a methodology that focuses on human daily activities, specifically targeting the improvement of cardiovascular health in individuals. © 2023 IEEE.

Predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer utilizing artificial intelligence-supported serum N-glycome analysis

An efficient novel approach is introduced to predict the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer by monitoring the serum N-glycome of patients combined with artificial intelligence-based data analysis. The study involved thirty-three lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Serum samples were taken before and after the treatment. The N-linked oligosaccharides were enzymatically released, fluorophore-labeled, and analyzed by capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detection. The resulting electropherograms were thoroughly processed and evaluated by artificial intelligence-based classifiers, i.e., utilizing a machine learning algorithm to categorize the data into two (binary) classes. The classifier analysis method revealed a strong association between the structural changes in the N-glycans and the outcomes of the chemotherapy treatments (ROC >0.9). This novel combination of bioanalytical and AI methods provided a precise and rapid tool for predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy. © 2025 The Authors

Using medical data to improve diagnosis accuracy has recently become common practice in hospitals. A modern computing environment has enabled real-time diagnosis of medical data using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To extract and evaluate skin melanoma recorded with digital dermatoscopy images (DDI), we developed a CNN segmentation framework. In this proposal, four phases are proposed: (i) DDI collection and resizing, (ii) DDI enhancement using pre-processing techniques, (iii) CNN segmentation for lesion extraction, (v) Comparing the extracted sections to the ground truth images, and (v) Verifying whether the framework is valid. Using DDI pre-processed with (i) Traditional procedures, (ii) Otsu’s thresholding, (iii) Kapur’s thresholding, and (iv) Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding, this proposal examines the different CNN segmentation schemes presented in the literature. For mining skin lesions, the Moth-Flame Algorithm (MFA) combined with tri-level thresholding achieves an optimal threshold for the DDI. With Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding images, the VGG-UNet performs better than the alternatives. This framework helps to achieve better values of Jaccard (88.47±2.13%), Dice (93.08±1.17%), and Accuracy (98.64±0.71%) on the chosen DDI database.

computerized disease detection systems (CDDs) have proven effective for automatic screening in recent years. Among the standard procedures in hospitals for faster and more accurate diagnosis is medical imaging-based disease screening. We aim to develop a CDD that detects COVID-19 using chest X-rays pre-trained vision transformers (PVTs). This scheme includes the following steps: (1) collecting images and resizing them, (2) implementing PVT for feature extraction, and (3) binary classifying the results and validating the proposed schemes. To prove the merit of the developed scheme, 4800 images (2400 normal and 2400 COVID-19) are analyzed. MLP classifiers verify the PVT performance using patch sizes of 6, 12, and 24. A patch size 24 results in 97.5% accuracy for the proposed CDD system. When patch sizes are increased to 12, accuracy increases to over 98%. For this specific task, smaller patch sizes are more effective. These high-accuracy results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed scheme for detecting COVID-19 in chest X-rays.

When COVID-19 spread in China in December 2019, thousands of studies have focused on this pandemic. Each presents a unique perspective that reflects the pandemic’s main scientific disciplines. For example, social scientists are concerned with reducing the psychological impact on the human mental state especially during lockdown periods. computer scientists focus on establishing fast and accurate computerized tools to assist in diagnosing, preventing, and recovering from the disease. Medical scientists and doctors, or the frontliners, are the main heroes who received, treated, and worked with the millions of cases at the expense of their own health. Some of them have continued to work even at the expense of their lives. All these studies enforce the multidisciplinary work where scientists from different academic disciplines (social, environmental, technological, etc.) join forces to produce research for beneficial outcomes during the crisis. One of the many branches is computer science along with its various technologies, including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, big data, decision support systems (DSS), and many more. Among the most notable DSS utilization is those related to multicriterion decision making (MCDM), which is applied in various applications and across many contexts, including business, social, technological and medical. Owing to its importance in developing proper decision regimens and prevention strategies with precise judgment, it is deemed a noteworthy topic of extensive exploration, especially in the context of COVID-19-related medical applications. The present study is a comprehensive review of COVID-19-related medical case studies with MCDM using a systematic review protocol. This paper deals with the problem of detecting the malware by using emulation approach. Modern malware include various avoid techniques, to hide its anomaly actions. Advantages of using sandbox and emulation technologies are described. Various anti-emulation techniques that are used in modern malware considered. Obfuscation as one primary approach to hide malware malicious actions described and discussed. State of emulator is presented, and the advantages of its usage are covered. Distributed model for malware detection is considered. Basic emulator and its current capabilities presented. Prepared files that represent malware are described. Experimental results for developed files that differs with included avoid techniques are presented. Disadvantages of proposed approach is described. Development of a novel visual servoing probe test method for fault diagnosis of printed circuit boards

Printed circuit board (PCB) measurement and repair is a challenging task that requires experience and expertise to perform. PCB diagnosis and repair shops employ skilled operators to carry out the corresponding measurement tasks using measuring instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters) in order to uncover the condition of a particular product. However, these tasks are often repetitive and meticulous, and additionally, the results need to be collected and carefully documented so that the gathered experience regarding the product can be re-used when the next product of the same type arrives into the shop. Nevertheless, the diagnosis of used PCBs is less researched and current flexible automation possibilities are limited. In this paper, a novel visual servoing probe test method and measurement tool are proposed to provide a flexible solution for PCB diagnosis with a higher level of automation. The aim of the approach is to reduce the burden on the operators by carrying out the repetitive measurement tasks and automatically storing the results while leaving the responsibility of measurement profile setup to the human expert. The proposed visual servo system uses manually teached-in measurement points, where template patterns are recorded using cameras, and it is capable of compensating positioning errors in the range of a couple of millimeters. The proof of concept of the proposed method is presented through motherboard measuring experiments, with a 99.7% success rate.

A key facilitating infrastructure for building intelligent structures that enable efficient in-person and virtual learning environments is the Internet of Things (IoT). The shift to smart learning, that includes IoT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the educational system, is enticing since it directly affects the motivation of learners, enrolment, participation, and in-depth understanding. Teaching and learning, management, examination, and class monitoring are only a few of the numerous issues that afflict conventional education. Many ingenious approaches to many facets of our lives are being made possible by modern advancements in information and communication technology (ICT); nonetheless, these imaginative concepts aren’t adequately incorporated into the framework of education. The COVID-19 pandemic scenario, in specific, has brought out the need for innovative, creative approaches in the field of teaching. The present research examines previous investigations in the field and discusses the following topics: (i) issues with the current educational system and potential fixes; (ii) the shift to smart learning; and (iii) scientific hurdles (such as technological and cultural barriers) in making the move to smart learning. In accordance with these outcomes, creative approaches to the issues with the conventional system-such as smart teaching, smart evaluation, smart school environment, and smart management-are presented. The business and academic community may now include IoT, AI, and ICT into smart learning owing to the aforementioned experimental research’s novel developments.

Recently, the most prominent study areas are Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications. The attributes of the Internet of Things (IoT) facilitate its practical uses in real life, but also leave it vulnerable to online attacks. Numerous IoT nodes gather, store, and handle personal data, making them a prime target for hackers. The main objective of a network intrusion detection system is to find network intrusions, which is essential to guaranteeing the Internet of Things' security. Numerous investigators have tackled this issue and have put out numerous intrusion detection methods. Cyberattack subcategories are hard to identify and performance improvement is a challenge for the existing system. This research project introduces a new method for security analysis in Internet of Things networks by creating the Diffusion Kernel Spike Attention Network with Atomic Optimization (DifK-SAN+AO). This research employs a Diffusion Kernel Spike Attention Network to counteract cyberthreats and provides an overall threat analysis of the Internet of Things. The classification of threat and normal patterns on an IoT network is the main topic of this research study. For every form of attack, the proposed model shows promising findings. We use empirically based, simulation-generated datasets (ToN-IoT, BoT-IoT, and CIC-IoT-23 datasets) to detect attacks directed on the IoT ecosystem. In order to perform a security analysis, the results can be compared using the security metrics that are calculated, including the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score factors. The experimental results are more reliable than current algorithms and show 99.2% accuracy in detecting a variety of threats. As it would be observed from the results of the simulations, this demonstrates how efficient our method is in assessing the impacts of the attacks in IoT networks and maintaining good performance values.
