Mobile wireless sensor networks (MWSNs) have been a hot topic of research, and numerous routing methods have been developed to increase energy efficiency and extend longevity. Nodes close to the sink often use more energy to transmit data from their neighbors to the sink, which causes them to run out of energy faster. These places are also referred to as rendezvous points, and choosing the best one is a hard task. The likelihood of choosing an ideal node as the rendezvous point will be extremely low because hierarchical algorithms only use their local information to select these places. The warm spot problem is addressed from four angles in this work using the Enhanced Power-Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (EPEGASIS) technique. In order to limit the amount of energy used during transmission, the ideal communication distance is first calculated. To balance the energy consumption among the nodes, mobile sink technology is employed once a threshold value is set to safeguard the dying nodes. The node can then modify its communication range based on how far away the sink node is from it. Thorough testing has been done to demonstrate that our suggested EPEGASIS works better in terms of longevity, drive usage, and web latency. © 2023 by the authors of this article. Road is an essential transportation infrastructure to move people and goods to support economic prosperity. The efficiency, safety, security, and comfort of people have significant consequences by damage and defects on the road surface. A good-condition road ensures the land traffic runs well. This research is a collaboration between the Bandung institute of technology and the department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of West Java Province to develop a smart system for road damage surveys. The system was built by leveraging machine vision and IoT technologies to improve the performance of the road survey activities. The previous road damage detection, classification method, and pavement condition index (IKP) computation were performed semi-automatically. The proposed survey system developed in this work uses the Canny edge Detection algorithm and MobileNet V2 architecture to detect road defects automatically. The pavement condition index computation also improved by using the interpolation reduction factor. The system is designed into a four-layer architecture that consists of several functions and modules, i.e., the sensor system that includes a vision sensor, GPS and odometry, a hardware embedded system using a microcontroller, and machine learning to process the road condition image automatically, and a dashboard application to reveal the road condition on map. The performance resulted in accuracy, precision, recall, and F-score of the road damage detection are 54.5%, 24.2%, 78.9%, and 37%, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Holding the steering wheel with both hands is essential for safe driving. This article proposes a novel approach using only one off-the-shelf smartwatch to determine whether the driver is holding the steering wheel with both hands. Two classification models, namely, the individual and universal models, are proposed. An individual model focuses on a particular driver, while the universal model is applicable to all drivers. Both models extract vibration features from the watch's accelerometer signals using the Hilbert-Huang transform and classify the signal pattern by using support vector machines with a radial basis function kernel. Data samples were collected from 35 drivers. The universal model can achieve an accuracy of 98.51% for the hand on which a smartwatch is worn and 90.29% for the hand on which the smartwatch is not worn;the individual model achieves a higher accuracy of 99.21% for the hand on which a smartwatch is worn and 97.18% for the hand on which the smartwatch is not worn. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

The immersive nature of virtual reality (VR) gaming is significantly improved by the implementation of dynamic environmental systems. This paper focuses on the development and impact of a dynamic day and night cycle in a serious VR game. This feature is intended to simulate a full 24-hour cycle within a 10-minute gameplay session, resulting in a seamless transition between different times of day that impacts both the visual aesthetics and gameplay mechanics. The day and night cycle introduces strategic depth by requiring players to adjust their management strategies according to the time of day, which affects resource availability, operational efficiency, and conditions. This system not only enhances visual fidelity but also directly impacts gameplay, necessitating that player modify their strategies in response to the changing environment. Visual aesthetics are expected to increase by 15%, strategic profundity will be improved by 20%, and player immersion will be enhanced by 25%, according to the research findings. This investigation underscores the importance of natural cycles in enhancing the strategic complexity, interactivity, and realism of virtual reality environments, thereby offering valuable insights for the creation of future virtual reality games. © 2024 IEEE.

The daily functioning of civilization depends heavily on transportation. In most cities, a sizable section of the working class consistently attends both employment and education. There are many different things you can do when commuting, such as unwinding, eating out, and other things. The most popular means of transportation in North Cyprus, particularly in developing cities, is island transportation, which includes the usage of both private cars and commercial vehicles. The advent of edge computing, which offers the opportunity to connect potent processing servers next to the mobile device, is a significant step toward improving user experience and reducing resource use. Mobile Edge Computing is the next trustworthy approach for how mobile devices consume communications and computing. Offloading computation is a key component developing mobile edge computing, which enables devices to get around clustering techniques' limitations and get around computing, storage, and energy constraints. However, computation offloading is not always the best strategy to use;making choosing unloading is a critical step that requires consideration of numerous factors. For instance, shifting the high-resource node to an edge server and granting similar capabilities to the low-resource nodes would delegate heavy duties to the external unit inside the network. The evaluations' results were noteworthy and substantial. Problems involving the vehicles of institutions and organizations can be resolved using the suggested solution to the school bus routing issue. We also test the impact of network latency on the delivery of a particular result using an Edge Computing simulator. © 2023,International Journal of Interactive Mobile Technologies. The objective of this work is to identify fish and shrimp species using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computer vision techniques. Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques include Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Therefore, neural networks can be used as a way to improve the industry, aiming to reduce costs and improve processes. This work proposes a transform network model for fish identification. Eight species of fish and one species of shrimp, were used. The database has already been consolidated and made available by the company, with a substantial amount of data, which contributed to the selection. The results regarding the number of hits were in the order of 99%, which demonstrates promising results that will contribute to the reliability of seafood species identification. The 99% accuracy of the proposed model indicates good performance for identifying fish species. Of all the classes used, only five were not fully utilized, including the black sea sprat (I), Gilt Head Bream (II), Hourse Makerel (III), red mullet (IV), red sea bream (V), sea bass (VI), shrimp (VII), striped red mullet (VIII), and trout (IX). However, the identification errors did not exceed 2%. © 2024 IEEE.

Thyroid disorder is a significant source of formulation in medical classification and prognosis, with onset being a challenging assumption in medical study. The thyroid gland is a vital organ of our body. Thyroid hormone releases are responsible for metabolic regulation. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are two of the most prevalent thyroid disorders that affect the thyroid’s ability to regulate the pace of the body’s metabolism. Data cleansing procedures were used to prepare the data to the point where analytics could be performed to determine the risk of individuals developing thyroid disease. In this paper, an optimal framework design employing LightGBM (Light Gradient Boosting Machine), Sequential Backward Selection (SBS), and a metaheuristic technique termed Whale Optimization (WO) plays a decisive role in detecting Thyroid disease. The objective of this research is to provide an impeccably clean and rational way to detecting thyroid disorder in humans. Numerous processes have been applied to thyroid data sets with astounding results, yet the data used for thyroid disease detection is redundant, inconsistent and contains missing feature values, as per our literature survey. The proposed effort would develop an expert advisory system based on the Opti-LightGBM architecture for the purpose of detecting thyroid disorders and initiating necessary medication promptly. The proposed Opti-LightGBM model yields an accuracy of 99.75% on Thyroid dataset and outperforms several state-of-art comparative models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management.

Smart Grids (SG) rely on Home Area Networks (HAN) and Neighborhood Area Networks (NAN) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol's resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol's effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol's enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

When implementing zero-trust edge computing, offloading computational tasks and data access through traditional model training and usage approaches can lead to increased latency. Since the traditional methods often involve extensive communication with a central server, creating additional network hopping stations/nodes resulting in increased latency. The challenge is bound to allocate a befitting resource at a given consumer demand. In this proposed system, a federated learning model based data offloading and consumer medical resource recommendation of IoT is discussed and validated. The user/consumer group and local training models are aligned with edge servers for data preprocessing and customization with a series of resources demand creation and coordination. The consumer resource allocating priorities are fine-grained with the proposed blockchain based priority analyzer for recommendation and allocation. The computational parameter such as resource pool, average waiting time, energy consumption and transmission trust delays are observed and validated. The proposed framework fetches consumer resources logs and synchronizes the centralized training model for effective scheduling and allocation of resources with an accuracy of 94.92% under the 5G operating spectrum. The technique has demonstrated minimal latency in offloading the data request demand and resource allocation at the cloud servers. © 2025 institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. The Separating Hyperplane theorem is a fundamental result in Convex Geometry with myriad applications. The theorem asserts that for a point a not in a closed convex set K, there is a hyperplane with K on one side and a strictly on the other side. Our first result, Random Separating Hyperplane Theorem (RSH), is a strengthening of this for polytopes. RSH asserts that if the distance between a and a polytope K with k vertices and unit diameter in ℜd is at least δ, where δ is a fixed constant in (0,1), then a randomly chosen hyperplane separates a and K with probability at least 1/poly(k) and margin at least Ω(δ/√d). RSH has algorithmic applications in learning polytopes. We consider a fundamental problem, denoted the "Hausdorff problem", of learning a unit diameter polytope K within Hausdorff distance δ, given an optimization oracle for K. Using RSH, we show that with polynomially many random queries to the optimization oracle, K can be approximated within error O(δ). To our knowledge, this is the first provable algorithm for the Hausdorff Problem in this setting. Building on this result, we show that if the vertices of K are well-separated, then an optimization oracle can be used to generate a list of points, each within distance O(δ) of K, with the property that the list contains a point close to each vertex of K. Further, we show how to prune this list to generate a (unique) approximation to each vertex of the polytope. We prove that in many latent variable settings, e.g., topic modeling, LDA, optimization oracles do exist provided we project to a suitable SVD subspace. Thus, our work yields the first efficient algorithm for finding approximations to the vertices of the latent polytope under the well-separatedness assumption. This assumption states that each vertex of K is far from the convex hull of the remaining vertices of K, and is much weaker than other assumptions behind algorithms in the literature which find vertices of the latent polytope. © Chiranjib Bhatt
