With the ever-increasing popularity of pretrained Video-Language Models (VidLMs), there is a pressing need to develop robust evaluation methodologies that delve deeper into their visio-linguistic capabilities. To address this challenge, we present VILMA), a task-agnostic benchmark that places the assessment of fine-grained capabilities of these models on a firm footing. Task-based evaluations, while valuable, fail to capture the complexities and specific temporal aspects of moving images that VidLMs need to process. Through carefully curated counterfactuals, VILMA offers a controlled evaluation suite that sheds light on the true potential of these models, as well as their performance gaps compared to human-level understanding. VILMA also includes proficiency tests, which assess basic capabilities deemed essential to solving the main counterfactual tests. We show that current VidLMs' grounding abilities are no better than those of vision-language models which use static images. This is especially striking once the performance on proficiency tests is factored in. Our benchmark serves as a catalyst for future research on VidLMs, helping to highlight areas that still need to be explored. © 2024 12th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2024. Many people have been exercising at home since the beginning of the COVID-19 period. Due to this, they haven’t had the supervision of a professional trainer who could correct them, rectify their mistakes, and prevent from harmful injuries. One very common workout that people frequently do is the bicep curl exercise, yet they fail to maintain the right posture without realizing it and end up straining their back muscles and pulling their shoulders too far forward. This is very dangerous as it could result in long-term back pain and tendonitis. Considering this issue, a methodology has been proposed for the people at home to continue their regular exercises without any professional gym trainer and gym environment. This research is oriented toward the correction of bicep form during the bicep curl exercises and preventing injuries. The acquisition fragment is designed with Myoware, an open-source electromyography sensor along with a three-axis accelerometer for capturing the essential segments required for the analysis. Naïve Bayes, logistic regression, K-nearest neighbor, decision tree, and random forest classification models have been used to perform the classification of the data acquired. The analysis of the novel dataset attained has been effective for determining the model with the best results to detect the bicep form. The random forest classifier has yielded the highest individual accuracy of 90.90%. Ultimately, an app prototype has been developed using the MIT app inventor platform. It has been integrated with a Bluetooth module and google firebase for showcasing and collecting data in real time from the sensory modules to the person working out and simultaneously storing them in the database for the deployment of this test set in the machine learning model. With this, the results of the accuracy and performance of a person are then acquired on the app for expressing the nature of their workout session. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springe

This research introduces a novel anomaly detection framework for IoT -based Smart Grid Cybersecurity Systems. Leveraging autoencoders, LSTM networks, GANs, SOMs, and transfer learning, our approach achieves superior precision, recall, and execution time compared to existing methods. Visualizations and an ablation study further validate the method's efficiency, emphasizing the critical roles of attention mechanisms and transfer learning. This comprehensive solution addresses the dynamic challenges of smart grid cybersecurity, offering a versatile and adaptive anomaly detection mechanism for real-world applications. This indicates the real-time efficacy of our anomaly detection method. Through our study of ablation and all aspects of computing, we discovered that attention processes and transfer learning facilitate faster problem solving in a dynamic smart grid. Our method is distinct and adaptable enough to address every problem arising from the discovery of anomalies in IoT-driven Smart Grid Cybersecurity Systems. © 2024 IEEE.

An persistent eye infection called glaucoma causes irreversible vision loss. A crucial problem in the clinical field is glaucoma identification. There have been very few studies designed to detect glaucoma in its early stages. However, using current techniques to carry out glaucoma infection detection was ineffective. Moreover, the conventional glaucoma infection diagnosis method required additional time. Glaucoma identification in various fundus images is a challenging task that necessitates mastery and extensive training. Glaucoma is an ocular neuropathy characterized by mild retinal ganglion cell degeneration. There are several different types of glaucoma, each having a unique a etiology and set of pathogenic factors, but they all have alterations in the structure and function of the optic nerve that are essentially universal. Convolution organisations, a type of deep learning computation, have swiftly emerged as a method for making decisions while analyzing clinical images. A chronic eye condition called glaucoma causes irreversible vision loss. In this section, we discuss two state-of-the-art glaucoma detection methods in the light of deep learning. The glaucoma dataset is used in this deep learning computation proposed for glaucoma photo analysis. This finding contrasts with convolutional brain network grouping techniques in the context of deep learning. Each rating indicates that the newly proposed worldview is more favorable than the one currently in use. © 2023 IEEE.

This research focuses on the application of computer vision to the field of material science. Deep learning (DL) is revolutionizing the field of computer vision by achieving state-of-the-art results for various vision tasks. The objective of this work is to study the performance of deep transfer learned models for the classification of microstructure images. With light optical microscopes, microstructure images of four different metals were acquired for this task, including copper, mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. The proposed work employs transfer learned powerful pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) models namely VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, DenseNet121, DenseNet169 and DenseNet201 to train and classify the images in the acquired dataset into different classes of metals. The results showed that the transfer learned ResNet50 model has obtained the highest accuracy of 99%, outperforming other transfer learning models. This also shows that DL models can be used for automatic metal classification using microstructure images. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Software development companies commonly use Global Software Development (GSD) in their industry. A competent Scrum team supports the success of the GSD project. This research aims to identify the game components in the form of types, elements, and technologies that contribute to building experience for the Scrum team in a GSD environment. We used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the Kitchenham and snowball method. From the 12 papers, we concluded that none of the games specifically focused on the competence of the Scrum team at GSD. The SLR results also identify ten game elements and technologies as a reference for game development to meet the challenges in GSD. The conclusion is that there are still great opportunities to develop a game that can improve the competence of the GSD Scrum team. Game development should refer to elements and identified technologies. © 2022 IEEE.

This research uses a new proposed multi-objective optimization algorithm that utilizes an untested combined chaotic map to integrate Customized Mutated PSO (CM-PSO) with a Modified Genetic Algorithm (MGA) to design an antenna with specific electromagnetic characteristics. The hybrid approach achieves preferred outcomes faster than PSO, CM-PSO, GA, and MGA by avoiding being trapped in local minimums. The proposed Metaheuristic Algorithm (MA) functionality has been authenticated successfully using Benchmark Functions (BFs) like Rastrigin Function (RaF), Ackley Function (AF), Rosenbrock Function (RoF), and Booth Function (BoF). Finally, the validity of the offered approach for electromagnetic applications is demonstrated by optimizing a dual-band planar microstrip monopole antenna with a simple structure, such that its optimized S11 be less than -10 dB at two frequency bands encompasses 2.4 to 2.484 and 5.15 to 5.825 GHz for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) with IEEE 802.11 standards. The proposed algorithm allows the optimization criteria to be customized. The optimization algorithm developed in MATLAB is used to determine the necessary parameter adjustments in order to achieve expected frequency bands using CM-PSO or an innovative MGA, while high-frequency and electromagnetic simulations are performed using computer Simulation technology (CST) Studio Suite. The dimensions of the proposed antenna's elements are critical input parameters of the algorithm, named decision variables. © 2023 IEEE.

Surface electromyography (sEMG) recordings can be contaminated by electrocardiogram (ECG) signals when the monitored muscle is closed to the heart. Traditional signal processing-based approaches, such as high-pass filtering and template subtraction, have been used to remove ECG interference but are often limited in their effectiveness. Recently, neural network-based methods have shown greater promise for sEMG denoising, but they still struggle to balance both efficiency and effectiveness. In this study, we introduce MSEMG, a novel system that integrates the Mamba state space model with a convolutional neural network to serve as a lightweight sEMG denoising model. We evaluated MSEMG using sEMG data from the Non-Invasive Adaptive Prosthetics database and ECG signals from the MIT-BIH Normal Sinus Rhythm Database. The results show that MSEMG outperforms existing methods, generating higher-quality sEMG signals using fewer parameters. © 2025 IEEE.

ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot, offers coherent and useful replies based on analysis of large volumes of data. In this article, leading academics, scientists, distinguish researchers and engineers discuss the transformative effects of ChatGPT on modern education. This research discusses ChatGPT capabilities and its use in the education sector, identifies potential concerns and challenges. Our preliminary evaluation shows that ChatGPT perform differently in different subject areas including finance, coding, maths, and general public queries. While ChatGPT has the ability to help educators by creating instructional content, offering suggestions and acting as an online educator to learners by answering questions, transforming education through smartphones and IoT gadgets, and promoting group work, there are clear drawbacks in its use, such as the possibility of producing inaccurate or false data and circumventing duplicate content (plagiarism) detectors where originality is essential. The often reported "hallucinations" within GenerativeAI in general, and also relevant for ChatGPT, can render its use of limited benefit where accuracy is essential. What ChatGPT lacks is a stochastic measure to help provide sincere and sensitive communication with its users. academic regulations and evaluation practices used in educational institutions need to be updated, should ChatGPT be used as a tool in education. To address the transformative effects of ChatGPT on the learning environment, educating teachers and students alike about its capabilities and limitations will be crucial. © 2023 The Authors

The price prediction task is a well-studied problem due to its impact on the business *** are several research studies that have been conducted to predict the future price of items by capturing the patterns of price change,but there is very limited work to study the price prediction of seasonal goods(e.g.,Christmas gifts).Seasonal items’prices have different patterns than normal items;this can be linked to the offers and discounted prices of seasonal *** lack of research studies motivates the current work to investigate the problem of seasonal items’prices as a time series *** proposed utilizing two different approaches to address this problem,namely,1)machine learning(ML)-based models and 2)deep learning(DL)-based ***,this research tuned a set of well-known predictive models on a real-life *** models are ensemble learning-based models,random forest,Ridge,Lasso,and Linear ***,two new DL architectures based on gated recurrent unit(GRU)and long short-term memory(LSTM)models are ***,the performance of the utilized ensemble learning and classic ML models are compared against the proposed two DL architectures on different accuracy metrics,where the evaluation includes both numerical and visual comparisons of the examined *** obtained results show that the ensemble learning models outperformed the classic machine learning-based models(e.g.,linear regression and random forest)and the DL-based models.
