In the dynamic landscape of online social networks, recognizing sensitive content is essential for safeguarding user privacy, fostering inclusivity, and enhancing diversity awareness. Building on prior research, this study explores new dimensions and methodologies for detecting sensitive content. We examine the temporal evolution of sensitive content, revealing how patterns shift over time, and address cross-linguistic challenges, emphasizing cultural and contextual nuances in detection. We employ advanced machine learning techniques, including deep learning models and BERT that improve the accuracy and robustness of the detection procedure. In the experimental study, BERT transformer reported the best performance in detecting sensitive content in text. Additionally, we incorporate explainability techniques such as LIME and SHAP to provide deeper insights into the model's decision-making processes, ensuring predictions are interpretable and reliable. Our work enhances the theoretical framework of sensitive content detection in social networks and provide methods that are accurate and scalable and can facilitate the creation of user-centric interaction that prioritize privacy and user experience. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper we present the process of optimal placement of industrial products (pallets) in mapped ware-houses and specifically in a soft drink company in Greece. The optimization criterion is to minimize the cost of moving the lifting machine that places the products in specific positions. The computational method of optimal placement of industrial products receives data from the automatic product count of the mapped warehouse and from the sales predictive model. Therefore, the computational method, having knowledge of the location and number of products in the warehouse and the prediction of sales for each product, places the products produced in an optimal way. Automatic product counting is carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which developed and applied in soft drink company in Greece. The sales prediction is carried out through a prediction model which developed in a soft drink company in Greece. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we review the fundamentals of IoT architecture and we thoroughly present the communication protocols that have been invented especially for IoT technology. The Greek School Network (GSN) provides support to students, teachers, and school units in secondary education across Greece. Handling numerous user queries manually can be challenging, necessitating the development of an automated system for accurate categorization of these queries. This paper presents a comparative study of various transformer-based models for multi-class text categorization of Greek language queries submitted to the GSN helpdesk. We introduce a new experimental balanced dataset and extract vector representations from eleven transformer-based models. These representations are evaluated using ten classic machine learning classifiers. Our findings highlight the superior performance of the Multilingual E5 Text Embeddings model, particularly when paired with the extreme gradient-boosting classifier. This combination demonstrates a clear advantage in accurately categorizing user queries, paving the way for more efficient automated helpdesk systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The BART model is an advanced adaptation of transformers introduced by Facebook. It has incorporated elements from both BERT and GPT transformers, enabling significant advancements in language understanding and general speech processing. Utilizing both encoder and decoder components, BART proves versatile for various tasks, including translation, text completion, automatic sentence generation, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and more. In this study, we focus on the study of pretrained models, BART and a modified version called distilbart, in the context of Zero-Shot Text Classification. In the experimental study we dive into the Zero-Shot technique applied to various pretrained Transformers. Our analysis demonstrates that, depending on the Model we utilize, we can achieve F1 scores of up to 88%, showcasing the model's effectiveness in discerning classes for this Sentiment Analysis problem using the Zero-Shot Text Classification technique. © 2023 IEEE.

The Renewable Energy Sources (RES) penetration in the power system of Cyprus has dramatically increased over the last years. As a result, the system is already facing significant challenges limiting the RES hosting capacity of the Distribution Network (DN). The major limitation factors are network congestion and voltage security. In this paper, alternative solutions for increasing the RES hosting capacity in DNs are reviewed, and a methodology is introduced to evaluate their effectiveness. More specifically, different inverter settings and an advanced centralised voltage control from power transformers are used to mitigate voltage-related issues, while network reinforcements and upgrading the operating voltage are considered for further increase in hosting capacity. The solutions and evaluation methodology are tested using a real MV network of the Cyprus distribution system and the strategic plan of the Cyprus Distribution System Operator (DSO) for maximizing RES hosting capacity is outlined. © The institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have garnered significant attention from the research community during the last decade, due to their diverse capabilities and potential applications. One of the most critical functions that drones must execute efficiently is navigation in real-world environments. This paper presents a decentralized approach for enabling unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to navigate safely in unknown environments and avoid obstacles. Leveraging the Optimal Reciprocal Collision Avoidance (ORCA) algorithm, implemented in the Robot Operating System (ROS), our method facilitates conflict detection and resolution in 2D environments. Through simulations using ROS, Gazebo, and Iris drones, we validate the effectiveness of our approach in scenarios with initial trajectory conflicts. Our work addresses the pressing need for UAVs to autonomously plan and execute safe flights, laying the groundwork for enhanced UAV capabilities in various real-world applications. The simulation results demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of our approach. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a methodology for drones for recognizing different types of objects in maritime areas. The concept and the aim is to assist the national maritime surveillance authorities in the identification of treats and the recognition of the exact type of the treat. The methodology relies on the use of deep learning networks and YOLO framework as well as regression models. The YOLO model detects where each object is and which label should be applied. In this way, object detection is subject to the analysis of Machine Learning-based approaches and Deep Learning-based approaches providing more information about the video or an image than traditional approaches to recognition. These approaches are used to identify groups of pixels that may individually belong to an object. This then feeds a regression model with the help of a convolutional neural network and more specifically, R-CNN, Fast R-CNN, Faster R-CNN and after that object detection algorithm approximates the location of the object and gives its label at the same time. The purpose of the application is to detect objects with an emphasis on identifying one or more targets of interest from data of a video or an image capture. An experimental study was conducted in real-world conditions and revealed quite interesting findings. © 2023 IEEE.

Big data processing frameworks demands for scalable and efficient cluster management. Apache Spark has emerged as prominent big data processing framework providing high-speed data processing and analytics capabilities for multiple applications. This paper explores the integration of Kubernetes as a cluster manager for Apache Spark applications leveraging its containerization capabilities to improve resource utilization and simplify deployment. In this paper the challenges of deploying spark applications on traditional cluster managers and showcase the advantages of adopting Kubernetes are analysed. The experimental evaluation demonstrates the benefits of Kubernetes as a cluster manager for Apache Spark framework. To execute the multiple Apache Spark applications on Kubernetes a homogenous cluster on Google Cloud is created by History bucket and service account. Finally multiple applications are executed on Google Kubernetes Engine. Output can be shown as the number of executor pods created with the performance metrics can be viewed. In conclusion, this paper compares the performance metrics such as job execution time and resource utilization with the different cluster. © 2025 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Ahstract-Zero-shot text classification leverages pre-trained transformer models to categorize texts without the need for task-specific training. This paper analyzes a variety of transformer-based pre-trained methods on the task of zero-shot text classi-fication. Specifically, we present a deep comparative analysis of various transformer models, such as BART, DeBerta, DistiIBART, RoBERTa, and their variants, and evaluate their performance in various zero-shot text classification schemes. Furthermore, we examine the models' generalization capabilities. The findings highlight key strengths and weaknesses of each model, providing insights into their suitability for different text categorization tasks. Our research contributes to the broader understanding of transformer-based approaches and offers guidance for selecting models for zero-shot text classification. © 2024 IEEE.
