Biomedical knowledge stored in the web is increasing significantly as most of the biomedical research papers are published online. Biomedical entity extraction is a crucial procedure for efficient text analysis and retrieval. PubMed is a very popular indexing engine, concerning life sciences and biomedical research. Being a free database, it accesses primarily the MEDLINE database of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics. In this work, we propose a metasearch engine over PubMed, which classifies PubMed results according to their specific topic and the extracted Biomedical entities. This method helps researchers to browse and search in the retrieved results. In order to provide more accurate clustering results, we utilize the biomedical ontology, named MeSH as well as RxNorm which is a tool for supporting semantic interoperation between drug terminologies and pharmacy knowledge base systems. Finally, we embed the proposed methodology in an online system.

Over the last decade or so, significant research has focused on defining Quality of Experience (QoE) of Multimedia Systems and identifying the key factors that collectively determine it. Some consensus thus exists as to the role of System Factors, Human Factors and Context Factors. In this paper, the notion of context is broadened to include information gleaned from simultaneous out-of-band channels, such as social network trend analytics, that can be used if interpreted in a timely manner, to help further optimise QoE. A case study involving simulation of HTTP adaptive streaming (HAS) and load balancing in a content distribution network (CDN) in a flash crowd scenario is presented with encouraging results.

This work proposes a policy iteration procedure for the synthesis of optimal and globally stabilizing control policies for Linear Time Invariant (LTI) Asymptotically Null-controllable with Bounded Inputs (ANCBI) systems. This class includes systems with eigenvalues on the imaginary axis (possibly repeated) but no pole with positive real part. The proposed policy iteration relies on a class of piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions which is non-differentiable, but continuous, and polynomial in both the state and the deadzone functions of the input signals. The second step of the policy iteration is based on a piecewise control policy improvement. An important aspect of the proposed piecewise policy is that at each step of the iteration the computed policy is globally stabilizing and the existence of an improving value function is guaranteed as well. The solution to the inequalities which is required to hold at each step of the policy iteration, is obtained by solving Sum-of-Squares Programs (SOSP) that can be efficiently implemented with semidefinite programming (SDP) solvers.

Courses to train modeling competence are held in higher educational institutions. These courses focus on the final artifacts submitted by learners for analysis and/or evaluation and do not clarify the intermediate creation process. This study focuses on quality of the final class diagram submitted by learners and trials and errors during the creation process. We tried to verify a hypothesis that learners to create an artifact with good quality make a number of trials and errors during the editing process. We collected the fine-grained data regarding the editing history of class diagrams created by learners by our tool called KIfU. We verified the hypothesis by analyzing the collected data. First, we defined two metrics ("Number of editing" and "Number of movement" of symbols in the artifact) calculated from the data that show the learners' trials and errors. Second, we divided learners into two groups, group that created artifacts with good quality and that with not good quality. Finally, we compared the metrics between the groups. The results show that there are statistically significantly differences of values of both metrics between the groups. We conclude the hypothesis we set is correct from the result.

The Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is constructed based on wireless medium and it is of self organizing manner. MANET is simple to set up and has changing topology. The mobile Ad-hoc networks are in danger of different attacks because MANET operational environment is open and dynamic. In MANET, data transfer use the different Routing protocols. Selfish (Malicious) node work is completely different as compared to normal Mobile nodes. Malicious nodes have capability to remove or modify the Routing Information. It also sends the fake Route Request to access user's data. It is responsible for attacks on the existing normal mobile nodes and creates receiver collision, restricted transmission power, fake misbehavior etc. Malicious node carries different types of attacks on the networks so it directly or indirectly effects the routing Performance. The intention of this work is to check and analyze the Network performance in malicious environment and provide prevention for the attack. Throughput and Delay are analyzed for Denial of Service (DoS) attack and prevention scenarios. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

The main focus of this work is the effort to minimize the power consumption on mobile devices such as notebooks, netbooks, tablets, tablets, smartphones, etc. by adjusting the transmission power of the wireless card, thus extending the battery life. In order to achieve that, we provide a mechanism (which we call Signal Adaptation Mechanism - SAM) that optimizes the power depending on the quality of the connection. This mechanism measures the quality of the transmission and adjusts the transmission power accordingly, by utilizing an expanded array of metrics along the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), for more accurate estimation. It also aims at easy implementation on various wireless adapters. In order to evaluate, fine-tune and improve the mechanism, a list of experiments has been performed. These experiments were conducted on a real (as opposed to simulated) ad-hoc network, where the nodes of the networks followed varying moving patterns.

This paper deals with the problem of sum rate maximization for a multiuser orthogonal frequency-division multiple access channel with secrecy rate constraints. We consider the case of a multiple-antenna base station (BS) and several single-antenna downlink receivers; a single secure user, a single eavesdropper and several normal users (without secrecy requirements). The eavesdropper intends to wiretap the message of the secure user and the BS aims to protect its transmission by appropriately scheduling normal users and enforcing spatial multiplexing between them and the secure user. A frequency (subchannel) and power allocation problem that aims to maximize the sum rate of the normal users, while a secrecy rate constraint is ensured for the secure user, is formulated. The resulting resource allocation problem is non-convex. Based on the dual problem and some well-defined transformations, we provide an iterative resource allocation algorithm with linear complexity with respect to the number of normal users and subchannels. In addition, two low-complexity solutions that are based on the decoupling of the subchannel and the power allocation subproblems, are investigated. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the performance of all the proposed solutions.

Recent work has proposed an enhancement of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) in a tunable, hybrid formal context including both numerical and nominal data [1]. This work introduces FCknn, that is a granular knn classifier based on hybrid concepts, whose effectiveness is demonstrated on benchmark datasets from the literature including both numerical and nominal data. Preliminary experimental results compare well with the results by alternative classifiers from the literature. Formal concepts are interpreted as descriptive decision-making knowledge (rules) induced from the data.

Femtocells provide an attractive solution to locally improve the data rates and the coverage of future mobile networks including 5G. However, nearby non-subscribed users may experience severe interference. Hybrid access operation allows femtocells to serve non-subscribers by allowing them access to part of the spectrum. In this work, we propose a distributed process that allows the hybrid femtocell to defines the spectrum access for the two types of users. The mechanism takes into account the prior condition of the users and tries to minimize the femtocell's impact to the rest of the network. We also introduce a power control mechanism within clusters of femtocells. The mechanism relieves the femtocell operating in hybrid access mode and its subscribed users, by coordinating accordingly the nearby femtocells' transmission.

It is known that the OWL 2RL Web Ontology Language Profile has PTime data complexity and can be translated into Datalog. However, the result of translation may consist of a Datalog program and a set of constraints in the form of negative clauses. Therefore, a knowledge base in OWL 2RL may be unsatisfiable. In the current paper we first identify a maximal fragment of OWL 2RL, called OWL 2RL+, with the property that every knowledge base expressed in OWL2RL+ can be translated to a Datalog program and hence is satisfiable. We then propose some extensions of OWL 2RL and OWL 2RL + that still have PTime data complexity. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
