This paper presents an implementation of an ISM RFID module capable of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer, that is implemented in a three-layer configuration. The top two layers of the RFID module are used for the low profile, high gain (8 dBi), circular polarization antenna implementation. The proposed antenna consists of four radiating L-shaped patches on the top layer, which are fed from a circular power divider. The energy harvesting (EH) system and the communication module are implemented on the bottom third layer. A four-port coupler is used to direct 85-90% of the received power from the antenna to the EH system and the remaining to the communication module. TI CC2530 IC is used, and it is powered from the PMU of the EH system. With -13 dBm input power, at the coupler’s port 3, the communication module can support TX/RX communication cycle lasting up to 3.5 ms.

The emergence of cloud computing technology has motivated a very high number of users in different organizations to access its services in running and delivering their various operations and services. However, this surge of cloud users has led to the problem of uneven load sharing among the cloud computing infrastructures. As a result, federated cloud infrastructure was initiated to provide more cloud computing resources to accommodate more cloud users’ requests and also to provide equal requests mapping with the available cloud resources. Nevertheless, the issue of unequal allocation of requests within the datacenter(s) that makes up the federated cloud environment still persists. This research work presents an intra-datacenter load balancing algorithm in a federated cloud environment named; the intra-balancer adapted throttled algorithm to evenly distribute requests in each datacenter that formulate the federated cloud infrastructures. The simulation of the intra-balancer was carried out in CloudAnalyst, the results of the implementation showed that the intra-balancer outperformed the Round-Robin and ESCE with 98.93ms and 2.26ms for the response and processing time respectively. The results assert that the intra-balancer algorithm provides a better load balancing solution in a federated cloud environment.

Semantic segmentation aims at assigning labels to every pixel of a given image. In the context of autonomous vehicles, semantic segmentation models should be trained with data collected from the traffic network through which vehicles are expected to circulate. Road regulation, weather conditions, and other context features may differ between regions, making local semantic segmentation datasets extremely valuable. However, the high ground truth annotation costs represent a hindrance to the development of such models. The upsurge of powerful feature learning architectures leaves room for semantic segmentation models trained on an unsupervised fashion. This observation vertebrates the purpose of this work: to produce coarse segmentation maps for scene understanding without the need of annotated data. We depart from an unsupervised model that yields low-quality results. The proposed methodology establishes a set of guidelines for the enhancement of segmentation maps. Obtained results expose an improvement of the segmentation quality thanks to the application of our devised guidelines, paving the way for the automatic generation of semantic segmentation datasets.

Some questions of creating the intellectual system «CONTROL-TEA» concept was considered. The issues of creating organizational support for the situational center of intellectual system «CONTROL-TEA» are reviewed. The structure of the information storage was developed. There is a need for their certification and registration in city services. In order to combine them into a single system, the smart city will be the task manager, and the DAVs will be their executor, it is proposed to organize regional situational centers that will coordinate the work. The regional situation center provides two-way communication between customers (public, municipal, private) and its contractors (UAVs), monitors traffic, provides a variety of operations and, along with the IOT, serves as a data provider. © 2021 IEEE.

Adaptive robotics plays an essential role in achieving truly co-creative cyber physical systems. In robotic manipulation tasks, one of the biggest challenges is to estimate the pose of given workpieces. Even though the recent deep-learning-based models show promising results, they require an immense dataset for training. In this paper, two vision-based, multi-object grasp pose estimation models (MOGPE), the MOGPE Real-Time and the MOGPE High-Precision are proposed. Furthermore, a sim2real method based on domain randomization to diminish the reality gap and overcome the data shortage. Our methods yielded an 80% and a 96.67% success rate in a real-world robotic pick-and-place experiment, with the MOGPE Real-Time and the MOGPE High-Precision model respectively. Our framework provides an industrial tool for fast data generation and model training and requires minimal domain-specific data. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

The Coronavirus, known as COVID-19, which appeared in 2019 in China, has significantly affected the global health and become a huge burden on health institutions all over the world. These effects are continuing today. One strategy for limiting the virus's transmission is to have an early diagnosis of suspected cases and take appropriate measures before the disease spreads further. This work aims to diagnose and show the probability of getting infected by the disease according to textual clinical data. In this work, we used five machine learning techniques (GWO_MLP, GWO_CMLP, MGWO_MLP, FDO_MLP, FDO_CMLP) all of which aim to classify Covid-19 patients into two categories (Positive and Negative). Experiments showed promising results for all used models. The applied methods showed very similar performance, typically in terms of accuracy. However, in each tested dataset, FDO_MLP and FDO_CMLP produced the best results with 100% accuracy. The other models' results varied from one experiment to the other. It is concluded that the models on which the FDO algorithm was used as a learning algorithm had the possibility of obtaining higher accuracy. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a brain condition characterized by diverse signs and symptoms that appear in early childhood. ASD is also associated with communication deficits and repetitive behavior in affected individuals. Various ASD detection methods have been developed, including neuroimaging modalities and psychological tests. Among these methods, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) imaging modalities are of paramount importance to physicians. Clinicians rely on MRI modalities to diagnose ASD accurately. The MRI modalities are non-invasive methods that include functional (fMRI) and structural (sMRI) neuroimaging methods. However, diagnosing ASD with fMRI and sMRI for specialists is often laborious and time-consuming;therefore, several computer-aided design systems (CADS) based on artificial intelligence (AI) have been developed to assist specialist physicians. Conventional machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) are the most popular schemes of AI used for diagnosing ASD. This study aims to review the automated detection of ASD using AI. We review several CADS that have been developed using ML techniques for the automated diagnosis of ASD using MRI modalities. There has been very limited work on the use of DL techniques to develop automated diagnostic models for ASD. A summary of the studies developed using DL is provided in the Supplementary Appendix. Then, the challenges encountered during the automated diagnosis of ASD using MRI and AI techniques are described in detail. Additionally, a graphical comparison of studies using ML and DL to diagnose ASD automatically is discussed. We suggest future approaches to detecting ASDs using AI techniques and MRI neuroimaging. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

The first commercial products of 5G will be released within 2020 and therefore, it becomes an absolute necessity to research whether the key enabling technologies are advantageous for the operators to invest in. One of the most fundamental technologies Cognitive Radio (CR), since there is not much research in the field. This paper develops a techno-economic framework for the CR technology and is contrasted with an already existing model for Software Defined Networks (SDN). A Sensitivity Analysis (SA) indicates the cost parameters that are the most expensive ones and should be reconsidered for the model’s wide adoption and viability.

Groundbreaking advances in theoretical and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this paper, themost relevant advances from the last few years in AI and several applications to neuroscience, neuroimaging,computer vision, and robotics are presented, reviewed and discussed. In this way, we summarize the state-ofthe-art in AI methods, models and applications within a collection of works presented at the 9th InternationalConference on the Interplay between Natural and Artificial Computation (IWINAC). Accurate segmentation of nodules in both 2D breast ultrasound (BUS) and 3D automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) is crucial for clinical diagnosis and treatment planning. Therefore, developing an automated system for nodule segmentation can enhance user independence and expedite clinical analysis. Unlike fully-supervised learning, weakly-supervised segmentation (WSS) can streamline the laborious and intricate annotation process. However, current WSS methods face challenges in achieving precise nodule segmentation, as many of them depend on inaccurate activation maps or inefficient pseudo-mask generation algorithms. In this study, we introduce a novel multi-agent reinforcement learning-based WSS framework called Flip Learning, which relies solely on 2D/3D boxes for accurate segmentation. Specifically, multiple agents are employed to erase the target from the box to facilitate classification tag flipping, with the erased region serving as the predicted segmentation mask. The key contributions of this research are as follows: 1) Adoption of a superpixel/supervoxel-based approach to encode the standardized environment, capturing boundary priors and expediting the learning process. 2) Introduction of three meticulously designed rewards, comprising a classification score reward and two intensity distribution rewards, to steer the agents’ erasing process precisely, thereby avoiding both under- and over-segmentation. 3) Implementation of a progressive curriculum learning strategy to enable agents to interact with the environment in a progressively challenging manner, thereby enhancing learning efficiency. Extensively validated on the large in-house BUS and ABUS datasets, our Flip Learning method outperforms state-of-the-art WSS methods and foundation models, and achieves comparable performance as fully-supervised learning algorithms.
