This paper proposes a distributed architecture of web filtering system focused on its operation and implementation for IPv6 home networks. The realized system, called WKeeper, employs the feature of IPv6 anycast to achieve distributed load balance. WKeeper has been proven to be functioning well in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks even with mobility support. In a home network environment, WKeeper efficiently and precisely maintains the URL-block-list database with enormous amount of entries, as well as its operation is robust and with low cost. Besides, experimental result shows that the delay of query response is bounded significantly even if heavy load.

The NPHS2 gene is expressed in the podocytes and encodes the integral membrane protein named podocin, which is believed to play an important role in the renal function of glomerular filtration. Mutations in this gene could cause serious renal functions disorder. In this study we used data mining techniques and bioinformatic tools to search for the mouse ortholog of NPHS2 related gene, which might be valuable for future studies of renal diseases. We employed repeated cycles of searching, comparison, and assembling for extending the assembled EST sequences. The discovered gene sequence mslp2, which is an ortholog of human SLP2 gene, was found to have a total length of 1253bp, with the amino acid coding region located in 32nt-1093nt. It was verified with RT-PCR and RACE techniques for assuring its biological accuracy and then registered with the GenBank. Using ClustalW for similarity comparisons between mslp2 and human SLP2 genes, the similarity is as high as 88% for nucleotide and 92% for amino acid sequences. In conclusion, we proposed a method for rapid identification of the mouse ortholog gene from the human genome.

The modal properties of anti-guided vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) arrays were analyzed. The VCSEL structure was constructed as a λ cavity plus one pair of high-contrasts DBR on both sides, to reduce computation time for the 3D calculation. A quasi-2D model, based on a separability approximation, was developed for calculating the array spectral mode splitting to compare with the experiment. It was observed that a 2D in-plane resonance can be achieved, in the 2D lattice, when a Bragg condition is simultaneously satisfied in both perpendicular directions.

UML is a good tool to represent ontologies. When using UML for Ontology development, one of the principal goals is to assure the quality of ontologies. UML class diagrams provide a static modeling capability that is well suited for representing ontologies, so the structural complexity of a UML class diagram is one of the most important measures to evaluate the quality of the ontologies. This paper uses weighted class dependence graphs to represent a given class diagrams, and then presents a structure complexity measure for the UML class diagrams based on entropy distance. It considers complexity of both classes and relationships between the classes, and presents rules for transforming complexity value of classes and different lands of relations into a weighted class dependence graphs. Representation of speech is complete when both the Fourier transform magnitude and phase spectra are used to extract features. But speech is conventionally represented by features derived from the Fourier transform magnitude spectra. In this paper, we propose an alternative representation of speech which uses the modified group delay function derived from the Fourier transform phase spectra. Cepstral features are derived from the modified group delay function. These features are called the modified group delay feature (MODGDF). Robustness of the MODGDF to convolutional and additive noise are then analyzed mathematically. Class separability and task independence of the MODGDF is then illustrated via the sequential forward search feature selection method. The results of performance evaluation of the MODGDF for four speech processing tasks phoneme recognition, syllable recognition, speaker identification, and language identification are presented. Motivated by the results of feature evaluation and performance evaluation, the MODGDF is proposed as an alternative representation of speech.

However, the problem of QoS routing is difficult and to find a feasible route with two independent path constraints is NP-complete. Also, QoS routing algorithms for broadband networks must be adaptive, flexible, and intelligent for efficient network management. In this paper, we propose a multipurpose optimization method for QoS routing based on Genetic Algorithm (GA). The simulation results show that proposed method has a good performance and is a promising method for QoS routing.

There is a lot of research in genetic algorithm about structural optimization. But as far as the large multi-goal program is concerned, it limits the application of genetic algorithm for the reason of its specialty and large calculation. In order to explore a new resolution, the author proposed a combining algorithm for structural optimization, which is based on genetic algorithm and gradient algorithm. Gradient algorithm is used to superpose, and the result got is used to improve the herd of the genetic algorithm. The superior genetic algorithm is compared with the root of the gradient algorithm and the best point is chosen to be the incipient point of the next step of the super position. This method can keep the best root of the course and can also speed up searching, and keep the best global root. Numerical examples show that the combining algorithm possesses both the merit of genetic algorithm on strong global searching ability and gradient algorithm.
