Classification and association rules are important research issues and focuses of data mining technology. A classification method of association rules with linguistic variables, which fits for the interval valued relational database, is presented. In this classification method, values of the record in each attribute are partitioned into several linguistic variables by the fuzzy c-medoids algorithm. Then, Apriori algorithm is improved for mining interesting association rules with linguistic variables in the interval valued relational database. Last, we use these interesting association rules with linguistic variables to build classification system. The classification method is implemented on a constructed interval valued relational database. The experiment results show that the classification method has fine accuracy.

It is a challenging problem to stream real-time video over heterogeneous networks with time-varying channel conditions and devices with different capabilities. In this paper, we present an FGS-based unicast video streaming test bed, which is now being considered by the MPEG-4/21 committee as a reference test bed. The proposed system supports resource adaptation delivery of MPEG-21 DIA scheme which leads to a more strict evaluation methodology according to the MPEG committee specified common test conditions for scalable video coding. It provides easy control of media delivery with duplicable network conditions. To provide the best quality of service for each client, we propose relevant rate control, error protection, and transmission approaches in the content server, network interface, and clients, respectively.

One possible approach to web personalization is to mine typical user profiles from the vast amount of historical data stored in access logs. Clustering techniques have been used to automatically discover typical user profiles recently. But it is a challenging problem to design effective similarity measure between the session vectors which are usually high dimensional and sparse. A new approach based on non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is presented. We apply non-negative matrix factorization to dimensionality reduction of the session-URL matrix, and the projecting vectors of the user session vectors are clustered into typical user session profiles using the spherical k-means algorithm. The results of experiment show that our algorithm can mine interesting user profiles effectively.

The first prototype of a real-time monitoring platform for assessing rehabilitation of injuries in the lower extremities in athletes is presented. The system provides patients, their doctors and trainers with real-time monitoring, alerting and medical decision support feedback during exercise. It aims to help optimize treatment and training procedures during rehabilitation, to reduce the inst.nces of injury relapse and to enable a prompt return to peak athletic condition. This first prototype is a hybrid portable/wearable version, the final aim being to make it completely wearable. The platform is composed of a sensing unit, a wearable processing unit and a remote monitoring unit. The sensing unit includes six goniometers for monitoring motion parameters, two temperature thermistors for assessing the condition of the injury, and an event "pain" marker button for monitoring pain. The wearable processing unit performs preliminary processing of the received signals, generates alerts and provides feedback and wireless data transfer to the rehabilitation unit. The rehabilitation unit is the main control, access and communication point of the system carrying out most of the data processing. The measurements are fed into an intelligent module, providing monitoring, alerting and decision support feedback to the athletes, trainers and doctors through a virtual reality interface and inst.nt display of the monitored parameters.

In this paper, we present a mismatch-aware stochastic matching (MASM) algorithm to alleviate the performance degradation under mismatched training and testing conditions. MASM first computes a reliability measure of applying a set of pre-trained speech models to a mismatch test utterance along the time axis or among different feature vector components. It then estimates and compensates the mismatch using the reliability measure to guide the speech segmentation. Experiments on a serious mismatched condition with training on PSTN-speech database and testing on mobile GSM-speech database showed that MASM outperformed the stochastic match (SM) method, especially, for short utterances.

This paper presents a model checking-based approach to data flow testing. We characterize dataflow oriented coverage criteria in temporal logic such that the problem of test generation is reduced to the problem of finding witnesses for a set of temporal logic formulas. The capability of model checkers to construct witnesses and counterexamples allows test generation to be fully automatic. We discuss complexity issues in minimal cost test generation and describe heuristic test generation algorithms. We illustrate our approach using CTL as temporal logic and SMV as model checker.
