SapePar-i860 is an execution driven "Simulator and Performance Evaluator for i860 based Parallel Architecture". The simulator has various inputs like the primary cache size, primary cache type, secondary cache size, secondary cache type, secondary cache replacement policy, number of processors, interconnection between the processors, communication path from each processor to other processors, type of communication and bandwidth of communication channels. The simulator gets configured automatically according to the inputs and generates log files. The performance analyzer generates statistics of the run based on these log files. The statistics includes cache hit ratio of primary cache, cache hit ratio of secondary cache, Complete Communication Ratio (CCR/sub i/) of each processor, the Compute Communication Ratio (CCR/sub 6/) of overall system, efficiency of each processor and efficiency of overall system. This also computes the speedup, execution time in terms of clock ticks.< >

This paper describes a solution to the problem of planning a leg motion for a six legged robot when smooth versatile motion commands of its body are given. The well-known wave gait for a longitudinally symmetric robot is generalized to solve the omnidirectional gait planning problem for a radially symmetric six legged robot. The algorithm can handle any combination of translational and rotational motions for a variable crab angle condition as long as the rates of speed and crab angle are moderate. Guaranteeing the maximum duty factor for any given commanded motion, this solution optimizes the stability margin of the robot. The foot trajectory planning algorithm dynamically generates a smooth foot trajectory as a function of the inst.ntaneous body motions.< >

Multivariable controller design for the regulation of blood pressure and flowrate in congestive heart failure patients is typically limited by the sample time for blood flowrate. We present a multirate model predictive control (MPC) design for the multidrug infusion problem, based on a comprehensive nonlinear model of the system. The MPC design is based on NL-QDMC, with a selective linearization method introduced to reduce computation time. External constraints on dopamine infusion specify a 'forbidden zone' in addition to upper and lower bounds. The multirate MPC design includes a novel rule-based override that is used to avoid any infusion in this region. Simulation results are used to illustrate the performance of the controller.

This paper presents a robust speed control of an induction motor (IM) using a load torque observer and a feedforward control. The speed response characteristics using a conventional PI controller are affected by variations of system parameters. In the proposed system, the speed control characteristics are not affected by a load torque disturbance and variations of motor and mechanical parameters. The whole control processing was performed by software using a digital signal processor (DSP) within a reasonable period and experimental results showed the robustness of the control system against.a disturbance torque and variations of motor and mechanical parameters.
