Hotspots occur frequently in 3D multi-core processors (3D-MCPs), and they may adversely impact both the reliability and lifetime of a system. We present a new thermally constrained task scheduler based on a thermal-pattern-aware voltage assignment (TPAVA) to reduce hotspots in and optimize the performance of 3D-MCPs. By analyzing temperature profiles of different voltage assignments, TPAVA pre-emptively assigns different initial operating-voltage levels to cores for reducing temperature increase in 3D-MCPs. The proposed task scheduler consists of an on-line allocation strategy and a new voltage-scaling strategy. In particular, the proposed on-line allocation strategy uses the temperature-variation rates of the cores and takes into two important thermal behaviors of 3D-MCPs that can effectively minimize occurrences of hotspots in both thermally homogeneous and heterogeneous 3D-MCPs. Furthermore, a new vertical-grouping voltage scaling (VGVS) strategy that considers thermal correlation in 3D-MCPs is used to handle thermal emergencies. Experimental results indicate that, when compared to a previous online thermally constrained task scheduler, the proposed task scheduler can reduce hotspot occurrences by approximately 66% (71%) and improve throughput by approximately 8% (2%) in thermally homogeneous (heterogeneous) 3D-MCPs. These results indicate that the proposed task scheduler is an effective technique for suppressing hotspot occurrences and optimizing throughput for 3D-MCPs subject to thermal constraints. The article proposes the structure of an intelligent software platform for managing complex risks. It is proposed to divide the platform into a global and local part (end-point software) that provides not only the management of complex risks on the scale of a single system (enterprise, organization) but also the collection, accumulation, synthesis and dissemination of methods and models of integrated risk management that are best practices that have proven effective on practice. Within the local part, the platform provides the ability to build complexes of hybrid intelligent models by a risk management specialist without the participation of a programmer. Examples of using the proposed solution or its parts in projects aimed at risk management are considered. © 2018 IEEE.

Quantum computing has seen tremendous progress in the past years. Due to the implementation complexity and cost, the future path of quantum computation is strongly believed to delegate computational tasks to powerful quantum servers on cloud. Universal blind quantum computing (UBQC) provides the protocol for the secure delegation of arbitrary quantum computations, and it has received significant attention. However, a great challenge in UBQC is how to transmit quantum state over long distance securely and reliably. Here, we solve this challenge by proposing a resource-efficient remote blind qubit preparation (RBQP) protocol with weak coherent pulses for the client to produce, using a compact and low-cost laser. We experimentally verify a key step of RBQP - quantum non-demolition measurement - in the field test over 100-km fiber. Our experiment uses a quantum teleportation setup in telecom wavelength and generates 1000 secure qubits with an average fidelity of (86.9 ± 1.5)%, which exceeds the quantum no-cloning fidelity of equatorial qubit states. The results prove the feasibility of UBQC over long distances, and thus serving as a key milestone towards secure cloud quantum computing. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Low-overhead coordination in sub-28 millimeter-wave networks

In this paper, we present some contributions from our recent investigation. We address the open issue of interference coordination for sub-28 GHz millimeter-wave communication, by proposing fast-converging coordination algorithms, for dense multi-user multi-cell networks. We propose to optimize a lower bound on the network sum-rate, after investigating its tightness. The bound in question results in distributed optimization, requiring local information at each base station and user. We derive the optimal solution to the transmit and receive filter updates, that we dub non-homogeneous waterfilling, and show its convergence to a stationary point of the bound. We also underline a built-in mechanism to turn-off data streams with low SINR, and allocate power to high-SNR streams. This "stream control" is a at the root of the fast-converging nature of the algorithm. Our numerical result conclude that low-overhead coordination offers large gains, for dense sub-28 GHz systems. These findings bear direct relevance to the ongoing discussions around 5G New Radio. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In both theoretical analysis and practical use for an anti-dictionary coding algorithm, an important problem is how to encode an antidictionary of an input source. This paper presents a proposal for a com-pact tree representation of an antidictionary built from a circular string for an input source. We use a technique for encoding a tree in the compression via substring enumeration to encode a tree representation of the antidic-tionary. Moreover, we propose a new two-pass universal antidictionary coding algorithm by means of the proposal tree representation. We address the problem of inferring an undirected graph from nodal observations, which are modeled as non-stationary graph signals generated by local diffusion dynamics on the unknown network. We propose a two-step approach where we first estimate the unknown diffusion (graph) filter, from which we recover the eigenvectors of the so-called graph-shift operator (a matrix representation of the graph). We then estimate the eigenvalues by imposing desirable properties on the graph to be recovered. To carry out the initial system identification step, we assume that second-order statistics of the inputs are available. While such quadratic filter identification problem boils down to a non-convex fourth order polynomial minimization, we propose a semidefinite relaxation with provable performance guarantees. Finally, numerical tests illustrate the use of the proposed algorithm to unveil urban mobility patterns.

Generation of wireless network from past to present deals with many fatal problems such as - spectrum scarcity, lower data rates, power deficiency, synchronization, unfavorable diversity, inferior QoS, and Interference. Many of the above problems are resolved in some manner using a better modulation and multiplexing technique using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), however, it still interlocks with Interference hindrance. In the paper, we surveyed all about OFDM interference's - Inter Symbol Interference (ISI), Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) and Co-Channel Interference (CCI) which greatly inhibits the Bit Error Rate (BER) of OFDM. Moreover, this paper also reviews some of the good research on interference mitigation techniques. We also surveyed the work on wavelet transform which is quite effective in OFDM system compare to conventional Fourier transform. Channel coding is a measurable parameter which is a mere technique in reducing the CCI effect from the wireless system, for that we elaborate Space Time Block Code-OFDM (STBC-OFDM) to reduce ICI and CCI.

In this work, we propose a transform based blind zero-bit watermark detector, designed based on a hierarchical, two-level image prior. This model is applied through Rao hypothesis test, where we detect the hidden information with unknown amplitude. The proposed method is suitable for wavelet domain watermark detection without the need to estimate the appropriate parameters under the alternative hypothesis. The proposed system shows efficient robustness against.a variety of known attacks. The experimental results show that the proposed detector has a good performance with or without attacks in terms of ROC (receiver operating characteristics) curves compared with other known state-of-The-Art statistical detectors.

Person tracking is an important technology for several applications of video surveillance, robot vision and human interface. Key features of the person tracking are the shape and color. Especially, color information provides important information to distinguish individuals in scenes including multiple persons. However, color information is influenced by illumination color. In this paper, we propose a novel person tracking method based on color tracking with illumination color compensation. The illumination color is estimated from three statistical features obtained from the whole scene. The scene statistics are an average value, a maximum value and "gray-edge" value that means an average of edge component of the scene. Person is tracked as the concentration of registered colors by using the particle filter. In the proposed method, the positions and velocity of points are defined as a system model of the particle filter. Three likelihoods of each particle are calculated by colors compensated by three scene statistics. Then, the maximum likelihood of three likelihoods is selected as the likelihood of the particle. We conducted experiments for evaluation of the proposed method. The results showed the improvement of the accuracy of tracking in comparing with the previous method that compensated color by only average value of the scene.

HyperSurfaces are a merge of structurally reconfigurable metasurfaces whose electromagnetic properties can be changed via a software interface, using an embedded miniaturized network of controllers, thus enabling novel capabilities in wireless communications. Resource constraints associated with the development of a hardware testbed of this breakthrough technology necessitate network controller architectures different from traditional regular Network-on-Chip architectures. The Manhattan-like topology chosen to realize the controller network in the testbed under development is irregular, with restricted local path selection options, operating in an asynchronous fashion. These characteristics render traditional fault-tolerant routing mechanisms inadequate. In this paper, we present work in progress towards the development of fault-tolerant routing mechanisms for the chosen architecture. We present two XY-based approaches which have been developed aiming to offer reliable data delivery in the presence of faults. The first approach aims to avoid loops while the second one attempts to maximize the success delivery probabilities.
