A country's critical infrastructures are heavily related to the quality of life and safety of the people. As a result, the security protection aspect of critical infrastructure has gained more and more attention nowadays, especially the security of its industrial control system (ICS). To avoid the abnormal condition happening in the critical infrastructure which could put people in great danger, a system that is capable of detecting any abnormal state of the ICS promptly is needed. Fortunately, due to the dramatic growth of the applications of machine learning in recent years, some researchers have already proposed anomaly detection methods with machine learning to provide inst.nt warning and protection for ICS. However, most of the existing anomaly detection research tends to only target one cause that harms the system, such as attacks on the network or physical equipment failures. The ICS will be more comprehensively secured if the anomaly detection system can cover multiple aspects of the ICS. Therefore, we have established a non-normal warning system with the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) for dam operations in this study, which can detect various types of non-normal operations and notify relevant personnel right away. Note that we use real historical data to make predictions and verify our warning system, and we improve it even more by implementing the visual analysis method, which makes up the indecipherable results often found in unsupervised learning. © 2022 IEEE.

The offshore wind energy is increasingly becoming an attractive source of energy due to having lower environmental impact. Effective operation and maintenance that ensures the maximum availability of the energy generation process using offshore facilities and minimal production cost are two key factors to improve the competitiveness of this energy source over other traditional sources of energy. Condition monitoring systems are widely used for health management of offshore wind farms to have improved operation and maintenance. Reliability of the wind farms are increasingly being evaluated to aid in the maintenance process and thereby to improve the availability of the farms. However, much of the reliability analysis is performed offline based on statistical data. In this article, we propose a drone-Assisted monitoring based method for online reliability evaluation of wind turbines. A blade system of a wind turbine is used as an illustrative example to demonstrate the proposed approach. © 2022 IEEE.

This investigation explores student expectations and perceptions regarding higher education inst.tutions, focusing on aligning professional programs with student career aspirations. The study evaluates how effectively academic inst.tutions understand and meet training needs essential for student success in professional fields. Students were categorized using the Iterative Dichotomiser 3 methodology to forecast their training requirements. Analytical tools such as the confusion matrix and the ROC curve assessed the precision of these predictions. The results show a specificity rate of 74.1%, a sensitivity of 78.6%, and an overall accuracy of 76.7%. The combined sensitivity and specificity score is 3.527, and the empirical area under the ROC curve is 0.76, suggesting the model’s reasonable efficacy. The findings indicate a significant student demand for enhanced inst.uction in soft skills, underscoring the need for educational inst.tutions to adapt their curricula to better prepare students for professional challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper we study a mobility-aware call admission control mechanism applied in a mobile hotspot. We consider a vehicle, which can alternate between stop and moving phases and has an access point of a fixed capacity. In the stop phase, the vehicle accommodates both new and handover calls. To prioritize handover calls a probabilistic bandwidth reservation (BR) policy is applied where some of the system's resources are reserved for handover calls. Based on this policy, new calls may enter the reservation space with a predefined probability. In addition, handover calls can wait in a queue of finite size if there are no available resources at the time of their arrival. In the moving phase, the vehicle services only new calls under the probabilistic BR policy. In both phases, arriving calls follow a Poisson process, require a single bandwidth unit from the system and have an exponentially distributed service time. To analytically determine the most significant performance measures such as call blocking probabilities an efficient iterative algorithm is presented. © 2022 IEEE.

Printed electronics technology offers a cost-effective and fully-customizable solution to computational needs beyond the capabilities of traditional silicon technologies, offering advantages such as on-demand manufacturing and conformal, low-cost hardware. However, the low-resolution fabrication of printed electronics, which results in large feature sizes, poses a challenge for integrating complex designs like those of machine learning (ML) classification systems. Current literature optimizes only the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) circuit within the classification system, while the cost of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) is overlooked. Printed applications frequently require on-sensor processing, yet while the digital classifier has been extensively optimized, the analog-to-digital interfacing, specifically the ADCs, dominates the total area and energy consumption. In this work, we target digital printed MLP classifiers and we propose the design of customized ADCs per MLP’s input which involves minimizing the distinct represented numbers for each input, simplifying thus the ADC’s circuitry. Incorporating this ADC optimization in the MLP training, enables eliminating ADC levels and the respective comparators, while still maintaining high classification accuracy. Our approach achieves 11.2x lower ADC area for less than 5% accuracy drop across varying MLPs. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cloud computing has been critical to the world's modern technological growth. Cloud computing is one of the most advantageous solutions to digital challenges. Security is a major concern in cloud computing technology, and this study tries to investigate cloud computing security concerns and potential solutions. A systematic review was conducted utilizing the databases Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, and Web of Science. Firstly, this paper discussed the basics of cloud computing environment and mapped that how this technology can be helpful for health care sector. Technical, managerial, security and legal aspects while implementing cloud-based health care has also been observed and discussed. We have also discussed various cloud-based healthcare solutions offered by various companies such as Apple Health Kit, Google Health, AWS e-Health. Indonesia is a significant palm oil producer, widely cultivated due to its status as a prominent vegetable oil-producing plant. Palm oil is a highly sought-after crop in agriculture due to its profitability and the demand for substantial quantities of high-quality oil. Early diagnosis of oil palm diseases is crucial for prompt prevention and eradication measures essential for maintaining high-quality palm oil production. Hence, there is a requirement for a machine vision-based method to classify diseases on plant stems. The proposed method consists of several main processes: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. Several machine learning algorithms and feature extraction using color and texture features were performed to develop a machine vision for detecting oil palm stem disease. It applied cross-validation with a K-fold value of 10. Performance evaluation was carried out using three parameters: precision, recall, and accuracy. The Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) method achieves the optimum results in testing scenarios combining color features based on HSV color space and textures features, achieving an accuracy value of 90.50%. © 2023 IEEE.

To reflect the nonlinear characteristics of the building structural adjustment system, an active vibration control strategy based on the nonlinear is proposed. In this method, the size of the structural control force is determined by comparing the allowable energy with the actual energy, and its direction is determined by taking the derivative of the energy. Because there is no need to solve the linear matrix inequality, the calculation is simple and the operation is convenient. Moreover, when multiple actuators with the same capacity limit are used, the control output force is consistent, thus avoiding the design of multiple control systems and simplifying the controller design. The simulation results show that the maximum controlled displacements of floor 6 to floor 8 are 1.16cm, 1.12cm, and 0.97cm, respectively. The proposed nonlinear energy control method has the advantages of simple control process and avoiding actuator saturation. © 2023 CAD Solutions, LLC.

Named data networks are a new concept in network architecture that can process data transmission by name. This concept can be utilized in the case of video streaming. TIPHON is a standard used to support streaming multimedia activities. According to TIPHON, three factors-delay, packet loss, and throughput-can influence how a stream behaves. This study's goal is to evaluate the quality of service (QoS) of video streaming services using an NDN network that adheres to the TIPHON NDN standard. Several things can affect throughput, such as bottlenecks on the computer or network device used. © 2023 IEEE.

The new generation of 5G networks, compared to 4G networks, is a very important example of change in achieving very high frequencies in the carrier with huge bandwidth, high densities with a huge number of antennas and improved quality of services, making effective interference management necessary. In this paper, we present the contribution of the Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) scheme to improving the performance of 5G networks. We refer to the technique of sequential interference cancellation applied to some NOMA formats, compare NOMA and Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) formats in terms of the capabilities they offer users and NOMA's significant contribution to Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology and compare three basic NOMA formats in three different resource and user reporting scenarios. Finally, we present the results of the simulations of the above comparisons and analyze the contribution of each scheme to the improvement of the system performance. and copy;2021 IEEE. © 2021 IEEE computer Society.
