Existing information systems often lack support to crisis and emergency situations. In such scenarios, the involved actors often engage in ad hoc collaborations necessary to understand and respond to the emerging events. We propose a collaboration model and a prototype aiming to improve the consistency and effectiveness of emergent work activities. Our approach defends the requirement to construct shared situation awareness (SA). To support SA, we developed a collaborative artifact named situation matrixes (SM), which relates different situation dimensions (SD) of the crisis/emergency scenario. A method was also developed to construct and evaluate concrete SM and SD. This method was applied in two organizations' IT service desk teams, which often have to deal with emergency situations. The target organizations found our approach very relevant in organizing their response to emergencies.

The spectrum characteristics of self-mixing signals observed in optical feedback self-mixing interferometry (OFSMI) is studied in this paper. The purpose is to provide guidance for the design of pre-processing techniques for eliminating noise or disturbance. The influence of two important parameters of the OFSMI system on the spectrum, that is, the optical feedback factor and the linewidth enhancement factor, are measured by means of Discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The simulated results show that, at a weak feedback, the OFSMI signals are strictly band limited in nature, with the cut-off frequencies being the vibration frequency and the fringe frequency respectively. Also increasing broadens the bandwidth but has little influence on the bandwidth of the signal. At moderate feedback, the OFSMI signals are still band limited with much higher cut-off frequencies, and there is a considerable spectrum spread over a very wide range in the high frequency end. The presented analysis provides sufficient information for applying signal processing to OFSMI signals such as the filter design.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of choosing the best domain for embedding watermarks in digital still images. During this paper, eight watermarking techniques were implemented and evaluated. Four techniques were selected to represent different approaches of embedding data in spatial domain, three approaches using discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain, and one approach using discrete wavelet transform domain (DWT) domain. The algorithms were chosen to represent a range of computational complexities and implementation structures. The performance of the selected algorithms was evaluated with respect to many perceptibility parameters.

Ambiguity is a major problem of software errors because much of the requirements specification is written in a natural language format. Therefore, it is hard to identify consistencies because this format is too ambiguous for specification purposes. This paper aims to propose a method for handling requirement specification documents which have a similar content to each other through a hierarchical text classification. The method consists of two main processes of classification: heavy classification and light classification. The heavy classification is to classify the requirement specification documents having similar content together. Meanwhile, light classification is to elaborate specification requirement documents by using the Euclidean distance. Finally, slimming down the number of requirements specification through hierarchical text classification classifying may yield a specification which is easier to understand. That means the proposed method is more effective for reducing and handling in the requirements specification.

This paper introduces a novel particle swarm optimization algorithm based on the concept of black holes in physics, called random black hole particle swarm optimization (RBH-PSO) for the first time. In each dimension of a particle, we randomly generate a black hole located nearest to the best particle of the swarm in current generation and then randomly pull particles of the swarm into the black hole with a probability p. By this mechanism of random black hole, we can give all the particles another interesting direction to converge as well as another chance to fly out of local minima when a premature convergence happens. Several experiments on fifteen benchmark test functions are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed RBH-PSO algorithm is able to speedup the evolution process distinctly and improve the performance of global optimizer greatly. Finally, an actual application of the proposed algorithm to spam detection is conducted then compared to other three current methods.

In this paper we focus on the notion of robust matrix root-clustering analysis in a union of regions that are possibly disjoint and non symmetric. Indeed this work aims at computing a bound on the size of the uncertainty domain preserving matrix D u -stability. A Linear Fractional Transform (LFT) uncertainty is considered. To reduce conservatism, a new approach, based on some generalized S-procedure, is addressed. In the case where the studied matrices depend afflnely on the uncertain parameters or when the studied matrices are subject to polytopic uncertainty, it is known that recently developed L.M.J conditions are effective to assess the robust performance in a less conservative fashion. This paper further extends the preceding results and propose a unified way to obtain new L.M.J conditions even in the case of rational parameter dependence. Some conservatism induced by some techniques encountered in the literature is here reduced .

This paper proposes a method which gives a state space realization of the linear systems with algebraic loops not only in numerical format but also in symbolic format and guarantees that the order of the system is preserved. The method uses an adjacency matrix in graph theory for the modeling of the control systems and uses the matrix inversion lemma to calculate the inverse of matrix symbolically and to obtain the symbolic state space realizations. We have developed a new software platform for modeling and simulation of control systems using the proposed method.

High-density components and process scaling lead more and more to the occurrence of new class of dynamic faults, especially in Static Random Access Memories (SRAMs), thus requiring more and more sophisticated test algorithms. Among the different types of algorithms proposed for testing SRAMs, March Tests have proven to be the most performing due to their low complexity, their simplicity and regular structure. Several March Tests for dynamic faults have been published, with different fault coverage. In this paper we propose March BDN, an extended version of the March AB. We will prove that it is able to increase the fault coverage in order to target latest dynamic faults. We show that the proposed March BDN has the highest known fault coverage compared to March Tests with the same complexity.

In this paper, we propose a novel spatio-temporal video retrieval model to extract spatio-temporal attributes for semantic video category classification using high-level reasoning of video objects and scenes. We also explore the semantic logical inference learning of video attributes based on interpreting camera movements and object spatial constraints, as well the views on temporal continuity of video. We have used Minerva international video benchmark for the analysis of our algorithm.
