To efficiently provide coverage for the machines and robots in remote areas, satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be utilized. In such scenarios, UAVs need to integrate different functions to support the control tasks of robots efficiently, while satellites can serve as backhaul to the cloud. To improve the overall performance of the closed-loop control tasks of robots, we jointly optimize the communication and computing resource allocation with data offloading. Specif-ically, we explore the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) cost to measure the control performance and formulate a sum LQR cost minimization problem. An iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the optimization problem. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

Improving Speech Enhancement by Cross- and Sub-band Processing with State Space Model

Recently, the state space model (SSM) represented by Mamba has shown remarkable performance in long-term sequence modeling tasks, including speech enhancement. However, due to substantial differences in sub-band features, applying the same SSM to all sub-bands limits its inference capability. Additionally, when processing each time frame of the time-frequency representation, the SSM may forget certain high-frequency information of low energy, making the restoration of structure in the high-frequency bands challenging. For this reason, we propose Cross- and Sub-band Mamba (CSMamba). To assist the SSM in handling different sub-band features flexibly, we propose a band split block that splits the full-band into four sub-bands with different widths based on their information similarity. We then allocate independent weights to each subband, thereby reducing the inference burden on the SSM. Furthermore, to mitigate the forgetting of low-energy information in the high-frequency bands by the SSM, we introduce a spectrum restoration block that enhances the representation of the cross-band features from multiple perspectives. Experimental results on the DNS Challenge 2021 dataset demonstrate that CSMamba outperforms several state-of-the-art (SOTA) speech enhancement methods in three objective evaluation metrics with fewer parameters. Existing works in event extraction typically extract event arguments within the sentence scope. However, besides the sentence level, events may also be naturally presented at the document level. A document-level event usually reflects, to some extent, the theme (i.e., the main content) of the document (e.g., electronic medical records and news articles), which is thus referred to as the thematic event. Thematic Event Extraction (TEE) aims to extract the arguments of thematic events. TEE faces a major challenge, i.e., the sparsity and dispersion of arguments, which means that the arguments of a thematic event are dispersed in different sentences of the document. To overcome this challenge, we propose an Event-related Sentence Detection based TEE model, called ESDTEE, which first detects the sentences related to the thematic event and then extracts the arguments only within these detected sentences using existing models. Extensive experiments with comprehensive analyses demonstrate the effectiveness of ESDTEE. © 2023 IEEE.

Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks can seamlessly supplement terrestrial networks by providing a high capacity, wide coverage, and cost-effective solution. Positioned to play a significant role in the upcoming 5G/6G era thanks to reduced launch expenses, LEO satellite networks offer benefits such as multi-path transmission, aggregated link bandwidth, redundant paths, and enhanced mobility support. These advantages necessitate further exploration in integrated satellite-terrestrial networks. In this work, we leverage network conditions, underlying link status, and real-time service characteristics to achieve effective synergy, aiming to fulfill application requirements. We formulate the service-oriented multi-path scheduling (SOMPS) problem as a bounded multi-knapsack problem and employ dynamic programming methods for its solution. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed scheme provides high transmission rate, low latency, and customized information delivery for services, in comparison with baseline schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

Predicting metabolite-disease associations based on dynamic adaptive feature learning architecture

Background and Objective: In recent years, the association between metabolites and complex human diseases has increasingly been recognized as a major research focus. Traditional wet-lab experiments are considered time-consuming and labor-intensive, while computational methods have been shown to significantly enhance research efficiency. However, existing methods for predicting metabolite-disease associations primarily depend on predefined similarity metrics and static network structures, often failing to capture the complex interactions among node neighborhoods within metabolite and disease networks. This limitation hinders the capture of deeper dynamic relationships between metabolites and diseases, resulting in information loss and noise that deteriorate prediction performance. Methods: An innovative dynamic adaptive feature learning architecture (DAF-LA) is proposed to predict metabolite-disease associations. This architecture integrates dynamic subgraph construction and an adaptive feature enhancement mechanism, enabling high-precision feature learning and association prediction through progressive optimization from initial to high-order feature representations. Results: The architecture was evaluated through five-fold cross-validation, achieving an AUC of 0.9742 and an AUPR of 0.9734. Additionally, the case study demonstrates that DAF-LA accurately predicts metabolites associated with Alzheimer's disease, Type 2 diabetes mellitus and Parkinson's disease. Conclusions: The results demonstrate that our method effectively uncovers potential associations between metabolites and diseases through dynamic topological modeling and multi-scale collaborative learning. It enables faster identification of likely metabolite-disease relationships, reduces the time and resource costs associated with inefficient large-scale screening in traditional wet-lab experiments, and provides more targeted guidance for subsequent biological validation. © 2025

A Novel Classical-Quantum Transfer Learning Framework for Image Recognition

With the advent of the era of Noisy Intermediate-Scale quantum (NISQ), quantum processors have demonstrated clear quantum supremacy, marking a new milestone in the development of quantum computing. At the same time, classical deep learning algorithms have been widely used in many fields such as image recognition and natural language processing. In this context, the Classical-Quantum transfer learning (CQ-TL) method, which combines the advantages of quantum computing and classical deep learning algorithms, emerged. In view of the problem of unclear quantum advantage in the existing CQ-TL framework, this paper proposes a novel CQ-TL framework based on amplitude encoding and effective learning algorithm is given. It not only has the flexibility of the existing framework, but also reduces the number of classical parameters, and can better demonstrate quantum advantages. Based on the CQ-TL framework, we designed and implemented two CQ-TL neural network models: named Transfer Learning Quantum Neural network (TLQNN) and Transfer Learning Quantum Convolutional Neural network (TLQCNN). TLQNN is structurally similar to a multi-layer feedforward neural network, and it achieves feature extraction through repeated quantum unit layers (ansatz). TLQCNN, on the other hand, employs quantum convolution and quantum pooling operations, which can effectively alleviate the effects of the barren plateau phenomenon, making it highly trainable and possessing great potential for practical applications. In cross-experiments with three benchmark datasets (MNIST, Fashion-MNIST and CIFAR10) and three source models (ResNet18, ResNet50 and DenseNet121), the two models have exceeded the benchmark classical classifier in many performance measures such as accuracy, convergence, stability and generalization capability. DCGSD: Low-Light Image Enhancement with Dual-Conditional Guidance Sparse Diffusion Model

When restoring low-light images, most methods largely overlook the ambiguity due to dark noise and lack discrimination for region and shape representations, resulting in invalid feature enhancement. In this work, we propose a physically explainable and prior guidance model for low-light image enhancement, termed Dual-Conditional Guidance Sparse Diffusion (DCGSD). Specifically, we introduce an elaborately designed Luminance Structure Guidance Head, which can be easily plugged into the existing diffusion model to emphasize the value of the luminance and structural representation. Furthermore, for reliable noise analysis, we provide a novel Sparse Attention Enhancement Module that is adaptively empowered to exploit the most useful region-to-region dependencies. This dynamic selection makes the diffusion process from dense to sparse, thus improving the efficiency of the reasoning noise distributions. To avoid noise amplification, we further present a Skip Calibration Module, which can be used to refine the local neighborhood that contains noisy and structural information. Extensive experiments have been performed to verify the superiority of the proposed method. DCGSD shows that leveraging dual-conditional guidance can support the diffusion model to produce sharper and more realistic results. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

UAV Swarm Path Planning for Sensor Data Collection via Double Pre-Partitioned Deep Q-network

Collision-free path planning is a significant challenge in deploying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarms for sensor data collection tasks, particularly in uncertain environments. This paper addresses the problem of designing flight strategies for energy-constrained UAV swarms using deep reinforcement learning. We propose a locally-aware double pre-partitioned deep Q-network (DPPDQN) for flight planning of multiple UAVs in large-scale uncertain industrial environments. This algorithm aims to collect data from ground sensors with communication constraints while avoiding mutual collisions. In the proposed algorithm, we first introduce a node pre-partitioning scheme using an improved clustering algorithm, which efficiently reduces the number of access points for UAVs through effective data aggregation. Subsequently, we employ an area pre-partitioning algorithm that segments the detection area into several subregions based on the number of UAVs available for operation, thereby preventing collisions among the UAV swarm during task execution. Finally, we propose a deep Q-network algorithm incorporating a convolutional neural network, which utilizes the local perceptions of UAVs as state inputs to address the 'curse of dimensionality"occurring in large-scale environments. Systematic simulation experiments validate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method. © 2025 IEEE.
