The outbreak of COVID-19 has dramatically promoted the explosive proliferation of multi-party realtime video streaming (MRVS) services, represented by Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Different from Video-on-Demand (VoD) or live streaming, MRVS enables all-to-all realtime video communication, bringing significant challenges to service providing. First, unreliable network transmission can cause network loss, resulting in delay increase and visual quality degradation. Second, the transformation from two-party to multi-party communication makes resource scheduling much more difficult. Moreover, optimizing the overall QoE requires a global coordination, which is quite challenging given the various impact factors such as bitrate and *** this paper, we propose the SJA framework, which is, to our best knowledge, the first server-driven joint loss and bitrate adaptation framework in multi-party realtime video streaming services towards maximized QoE. We comprehensively design an appropriate QoE model for MRVS services to capture the interplay among perceptual quality, variations, bitrate mismatch, loss damage, and streaming delay. We mathematically formulate the QoE maximization problem in MRVS services. A Lyapunov-based relaxation and the SJA algorithm are further designed to address the optimization problem with close-to-optimal performance. Evaluations show that our framework can outperform the SOTA solutions by 18.4% ∼ 46.5%. © 2023 IEEE.

Improved NL2SQL based on Multi-layer Expert network

The Natural Language to SQL (NL2SQL) technique is used to convert natural language queries into executable SQL statements. Typically, slot-filling is employed as a classification method for multi-task cases to achieve this goal. However, slot-filling can result in inaccurate SQL statement generation due to negative migration issues arising from different classification tasks. To overcome this limitation, this study introduces a new approach called Multi-Layer Expert Generate SQL (MLEG-SQL), which utilizes a dedicated multi-task hierarchical network. The lower layer of the network extracts semantic features of natural language statements, while the upper layer builds a specialized expert system for handling specific classification tasks. This hierarchical approach mitigates performance degradation resulting from different task conflicts. The proposed method was evaluated on the WiKSQL dataset and was found to be effective in generating accurate SQL statements. © 2023, CC BY.

Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR) parsing is the task of translating a sentence to an AMR semantic graph which captures the basic meaning of the sentence, and is empowered by pre-trained Transformer models recently. These models encode the syntactic and semantic knowledge implicitly through self-supervised pre-trained tasks. We argue that encoding the syntactic and semantic knowledge explicitly is beneficial to AMR parsing and can improve data efficiency. Specifically, syntactic dependency and semantic role labeling (SRL) have similar sub-structures with AMR. In this work, we propose a novel linguistic knowledge-enhanced AMR parsing model, which augments the pre-trained Transformer with syntactic dependency and semantic role labeling structures of sentences. By applying a heterogeneous graph attention network, we can obtain syntactically and semantically augmented word representation, which can be integrated using an attentive integration layer and gating mechanism. Experimental results show that our model achieves state-of-the-art performance on different benchmarks, especially in out-of-domain and low-resource scenarios.

Graph contrastive learning has gained popularity due to its success in self-supervised graph representation learning. Augmented views in contrastive learning greatly determine the quality of the learned representations. Handcrafted data augmentations in previous work require tedious trial-and- errors per dataset, which is time-consuming and resource-intensive. Here, we propose a Graph Contrastive learning framework with Learnable graph Augmentation called GraphCLA. Specifically, learnable graph augmentation trains augmented views by minimizing the mutual information (MI) between the input graphs and their augmented graphs. This paper designs a kernel contrastive loss function based on an end-to-end differentiable graph kernel to learn augmented views. In addition, this paper utilizes a min-max optimization strategy to learn challenging augmented graphs and to learn discriminative representations adversarially. Finally, we compared GraphCLA with state-of-the-art self-supervised learning baselines and experimentally validate the effectiveness of GraphCLA. © 2023 IEEE.

Underwater salient object detection (USOD) plays a pivotal role in various vision-based marine exploration tasks. However, existing USOD techniques face the dilemma of object mislocalization and imprecise boundaries due to the complex underwater environment. The quality degradation of raw underwater images (caused by selective absorption and medium scattering) makes it challenging to perform instance detection directly. One conceivable approach involves initially removing visual disturbances through underwater image enhancement (UIE), followed by saliency detection. However, this two-stage approach neglects the potential positive impact of the restoration procedure on saliency detection due to it executes in a cascade. Based on this insight, we propose a generalized prior-involved diffusion model, called WaterDiffusion for collaborative underwater saliency detection and visual restoration. Specifically, we first propose a revised self-attention joint diffusion, which embeds dynamic saliency masks into the diffusive network as latent features. By extending the underwater degradation prior into the multiscale decoder, we innovatively exploit optical transmission maps to aid in localizing underwater salient objects. Then, we further design a gate-guided binary indicator to select either normalized or raw channels for improving feature generalization. Finally, the Half-quadratic Splitting is introduced into the unfolding sampling to refine saliency masks iteratively. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of WaterDiffusion over state-of-the-art methods in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations. The seedling stage is important in the growth and development of maize, and it is also a critical period that affects maize yield and quality. Accurately recognizing this stage of maize is challenging, as current maize seedling detection methods struggle with small sizes and complex environments. This paper proposes a rapid maize seedling detection method that emphasizes spatial feature extraction in the receptive field and cross-dimensional interaction - receptive field triplet attention YOLO (RFT-YOLO). First, we design a convolutional module for cross-dimensional information interaction within the receptive field. Second, we introduce an advanced selective fusion network, which boosts the multi-scale fusion capability of small object features while reducing the GFLOPs of the model. Additionally, we employ Inner-IoU to diminish sensitivity to positional biases of small objects and expedite the convergence of the loss function. Finally, we create a dataset of maize seedlings to conduct our experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the RFT-YOLO significantly enhances performance, reducing the number of parameters by 35.3% and GFLOPs by 14.24%, compared to the baseline model. Moreover, the mean average precision (mAP) improves from 89.6% to 91.5%. These improvements confirm the model's effectiveness in detecting maize seedlings. © 2024 IEEE.

Low-light Stereo Image Enhancement and De-noising in the Low-frequency Information Enhanced Image Space

Unlike single image task, stereo image enhancement can use another view information, and its key stage is how to perform cross-view feature interaction to extract useful information from another view. However, complex noise in low-light image and its impact on subsequent feature encoding and interaction are ignored by the existing methods. In this paper, a method is proposed to perform enhancement and de-noising simultaneously. First, to reduce unwanted noise interference, a low-frequency information enhanced module (IEM) is proposed to suppress noise and produce a new image space. Additionally, a cross-channel and spatial context information mining module (CSM) is proposed to encode long-range spatial dependencies and to enhance inter-channel feature interaction. Relying on CSM, an encoder-decoder structure is constructed, incorporating cross-view and cross-scale feature interactions to perform enhancement in the new image space. Finally, the network is trained with the constraints of both spatial and frequency domain losses. Extensive experiments on both synthesized and real datasets show that our method obtains better detail recovery and noise removal compared with state-of-the-art methods. The prediction of chemical synthesis pathways plays a pivotal role in materials science research. Challenges, such as the complexity of synthesis pathways and the lack of comprehensive datasets, currently hinder our ability to predict these chemical processes accurately. However, recent advancements in generative artificial intelligence(GAI), including automated text generation and question–answering systems, coupled with fine-tuning techniques, have facilitated the deployment of large-scale AI models tailored to specific domains. In this study, we harness the power of the LLaMA2-7B model and enhance it through a learning process that incorporates 13878 pieces of structured material knowledge *** specialized AI model, named Mat Chat, focuses on predicting inorganic material synthesis pathways. Mat Chat exhibits remarkable proficiency in generating and reasoning with knowledge in materials science. Although Mat Chat requires further refinement to meet the diverse material design needs, this research undeniably highlights its impressive reasoning capabilities and innovative potential in materials science. Mat Chat is now accessible online and open for use, with both the model and its application framework available as open source. This study establishes a robust foundation for collaborative innovation in the integration of generative AI in materials science.

A two Stage Mixed Integer Programming Model for Distributionally Robust State Based Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring

This paper presents a non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) model based on two-stage mixed-integer linear programming theory. Compared with other mixed integer optimization-based models, this paper model introduces fewer integer variables and richer absolute error function of load decomposition, which makes the power state selection of each device more accurate and the power consumption more accurate fitting. First, to tackle the issues related to noisy load data, an innovative load feature extraction model based on Kullback-Leibler distributionally robust optimization principles is introduced. Then the key features (power boundary/fluctuation features) of each device identified through this robust model are integrated into the constraints of the two-stage NILM model. The two-stage complementary framework includes: the determination of device state interval in the first stage;and the accurate fitting of device power consumption within the device state interval in the second stage. Comparative validation against existing optimization-based models on the AMPds, REFIT, and actual laboratory data sets demonstrate that our proposed model significantly enhances power decomposition accuracy and computational efficiency. In addition, the two-stage complementary framework and load feature extraction model can be applied to other optimization-based models of NILM to improve the computational efficiency of each model and the accuracy of load decomposition. © 2025 IEEE.
