News image captioning aims to generate captions or descriptions for news images automatically, serving as draft captions for creating news image captions manually. News image captions are different from generic captions as news image captions contain more detailed information such as entity names and events. Therefore, both images on news and the accompanying text are the source of generating caption of news image. Pointer-generator network is a neural method defined for text summarization. This article proposes the Multimodal pointer-generation network by incorporating visual information into the original network for news image captioning. The multimodal attention mechanism is proposed by splitting attention into visual attention paid to the image and textual attention paid to the text. The multimodal pointer mechanism is proposed by using both textual attention and visual attention to compute pointer distributions, where visual attention is first transformed into textual attention via the word-image relationships. The multimodal coverage mechanism is defined to reduce repetitions of attentions or repetitions of pointer distributions. Experiments on the DailyMail test dataset and the out-of-domain BBC test dataset show that the proposed model outperforms the original pointer-generator network, the generic image captioning method, the extractive news image captioning method, and the LDA-based method according BLEU, METEOR, and ROUGL-L evaluations. Experiments also show that the proposed multimodal coverage mechanisms can improve the model, and that transforming visual attention to pointer distributions can improve the model. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Neural networks excel at capturing local spatial patterns through convolutional modules,but they may struggle to identify and effectively utilize the morphological and amplitude periodic nature of physiological *** this work,we propose a novel network named filtering module fully convolutional network(FM-FCN),which fuses traditional filtering techniques with neural networks to amplify physiological signals and suppress ***,instead of using a fully connected layer,we use an FCN to preserve the time-dimensional correlation information of physiological signals,enabling multiple cycles of signals in the network and providing a basis for signal ***,we introduce the FM as a network module that adapts to eliminate unwanted interference,leveraging the structure of the *** approach builds a bridge between deep learning and signal processing ***,we evaluate the performance of FM-FCN using remote *** results demonstrate that FM-FCN outperforms the second-ranked method in terms of both blood volume pulse(BVP)signal and heart rate(HR)*** substantially improves the quality of BVP waveform reconstruction,with a decrease of 20.23%in mean absolute error(MAE)and an increase of 79.95%in signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).Regarding HR estimation accuracy,FM-FCN achieves a decrease of 35.85%in MAE,29.65%in error standard deviation,and 32.88%decrease in 95%limits of agreement width,meeting clinical standards for HR accuracy *** results highlight its potential in improving the accuracy and reliability of vital sign measurement through high-quality BVP signal *** codes and datasets are available online at https://***/zhaoqi106/FM-FCN.

Computed Tomography (CT) is an imaging technique widely used in clinical diagnosis. However, high-attenuation metallic implants result in the obstruction of low-energy Xrays and further lead to metal artifacts in the reconstructed CT images. Deep supervised model-based metal artifact reduction(MAR) approaches are limited in clinical applications due to the difficulty in obtaining paired artifact-affected and artifactfree data. Furthermore, these model-based methods lack the consideration of data consistency in the sinogram-domain to perform exact metal trace inpainting. To address these challenges, we propose a Data-consistent unsupErVised diffusiOn model for meTal artifact rEDuction, called DEVOTED-Net. First, DEVOTED-Net leverages prior knowledge to guide the conditional diffusion model for fine-grained metal trace inpainting. Second, an unsupervised MAR framework is designed in the reverse process for the unknown metal traces restoration in the sinogram domain. Third, to further enhance the sinogram-domain data consistency, physics-based consistency constraint loss including conjugateray consistency loss and accumulation-ray consistency loss is designed. Extensive experiments are carried out to verify the performance of our algorithm on the publicly available dataset and clinical experimental dataset. This efficient, accurate, and reliable MAR approach holds great potential in clinics. © 2023 IEEE.

Current approaches in Group Activity Recognition (GAR) predominantly emphasize Human Relations (HRs) while often neglecting the impact of Human-Object Inter-actions (HOIs). This study prioritizes the consideration of both HRs and HOIs, emphasizing their interdependence. Notably, employing Granger Causality Tests reveals the presence of bidirectional causality between HRs and HOIs. Leveraging this insight, we propose a Bidirectional-Causal GAR network. This network establishes a causality commu-nication channel while modeling relations and interactions, enabling reciprocal enhancement between human-object interactions and human relations, ensuring their mutual consistency. Additionally, an Interaction Module is devised to effectively capture the dynamic nature of human-object interactions. Comprehensive experiments conducted on two publicly available datasets showcase the superiority of our proposed method over state-of-the-art approaches. Our project page: https://***/***/

ChainPIM: A ReRAM-Based Processing-in-Memory Accelerator for HGNNs via Chain Structure

Heterogeneous graph neural networks (HGNNs) have recently demonstrated significant advantages of capturing powerful structural and semantic information in heterogeneous graphs. Different from homogeneous graph neural networks directly aggregating information based on neighbors, HGNNs aggregate information based on complex metapaths. ReRAM-based processing-in-memory (PIM) architecture can reduce data movement and compute matrix-vector multiplication (MVM) in analog. It can be well used to accelerate HGNNs. However, the complex metapath-based aggregation of HGNNs makes it challenging to efficiently utilize the parallelism of ReRAM and vertices data reuse. To this end, we propose ChainPIM, the first ReRAM-based processing-in-memory accelerator for HGNNs featuring high computing parallelism and vertices data reuse. Specifically, we introduce R-Chain, which is based on a chain structure to build related metapath instances together. We can efficiently reuse vertices through R-Chain and process different R-Chains in parallel. Then, we further design an efficient storage format for storing R-Chains, which reduces a lot of repeated vertices storage. Finally, a specialized ReRAM-based architecture is developed to pipeline different types of aggregations in HGNNs, fully exploiting the huge potential of multi-level parallelism in HGNNs. Our experiments show that ChainPIM achieves an average memory space reduction of 47.86% and performance improvement by 128.29× compared to NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

In the case of interference perturbation, the wideband adaptive beamforming (WAB) weight vector may be mismatched, which leads to the decrease of interference suppression ability. To improve communication quality under the interference position perturbation, this paper presents a multi-head self-attention conventional neural network (MHSA-CNN)-based WAB algorithm with null broadening. In the presented approach, a MHSA-CNN structure is proposed to improve the prediction accuracy of beamforming weight vector in the case of interference perturbation. Specifically, by processing multiple attention heads in parallel to obtain the information of different signal subspaces, MHSA mechanism enables the network to dynamically adjust the attention distribution of signal features and effectively extract the global features of the covariance matrix. Then, based on focused reconstruction and null broadening, an effective neural network training label is used to enhance the ability of suppressing interferences. Finally, the well-trained MHSA-CNN can accurately output the weight vector suitable for WAB with null broadening in real time. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can suppress interferences accurately within the interference perturbation range and enhance the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio while ensuring real-time communication performance. © 2025 IEEE.

Mirror contrastive loss based sliding window transformer for subject-independent motor imagery based EEG signal recognition

While deep learning models have been extensively utilized in motor imagery based EEG signal recognition, they often operate as black boxes. Motivated by neurological findings indicating that the mental imagery of left or right-hand movement induces event-related desynchronization (ERD) in the contralateral sensorimotor area of the brain, we propose a Mirror Contrastive Loss based Sliding Window Transformer (MCL-SWT) to enhance subject-independent motor imagery-based EEG signal recognition. Specifically, our proposed mirror contrastive loss enhances sensitivity to the spatial location of ERD by contrasting the original EEG signals with their mirror counterparts—mirror EEG signals generated by interchanging the channels of the left and right hemispheres of the EEG signals. Moreover, we introduce a temporal sliding window transformer that computes self-attention scores from high temporal resolution features, thereby improving model performance with manageable computational complexity. We evaluate the performance of MCL-SWT on subject-independent motor imagery EEG signal recognition tasks, and our experimental results demonstrate that MCL-SWT achieved accuracies of 66.48% and 75.62%, surpassing the state-of-the-art (SOTA) model by 2.82% and 2.17%, respectively. Video question answering (VideoQA) aims to answer natural language questions according to the given videos. Although existing models perform well in the factoid VideoQA task, they still face challenges in deep video understanding (DVU) task, which focuses on story videos. Compared to factoid videos, the most significant feature of story videos is storylines, which are composed of complex interactions and long-range evolvement of core story topics including characters, actions and locations. Understanding these topics requires models to possess DVU capability. However, existing DVU datasets rarely organize questions according to these story topics, making them difficult to comprehensively assess VideoQA models' DVU capability of complex storylines. Additionally, the question quantity and video length of these dataset are limited by high labor costs of handcrafted dataset building method. In this paper, we devise a large language model based multi-agent collaboration framework, StoryMind, to automatically generate a new large-scale DVU dataset. The dataset, FriendsQA, derived from the renowned sitcom Friends with an average episode length of 1,358 seconds, contains 44.6K questions evenly distributed across 14 fine-grained topics. We propose MiT-Net, a novel mix-transformer neural network with a pyramid encoder operating in the time domain, for the task of acoustic echo cancellation. The MiT-Net formulates acoustic echo cancellation as a supervised speech separation problem, in which near-end speech is separated from a single microphone recording and sent to the far end, and consists of two key components. First, we apply a pyramid encoder, which adopts the coarse-to-fine structure, to extract the latent correlations between double-end signals and to fuse them in a multiscale manner. Second, we propose a mix-transformer, a combination of local and global attention in a parallel way, to leverage local and global speech information for separation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms recent AEC methods in terms of objective evaluation metrics. In addition, exploring the correlation between speech local and global features by using the mix-transformer significantly improves the system performance and shows more robustness than the conventional transformer.

CRPWarner: Warning the Risk of Contract-related Rug Pull in DeFi Smart Contracts

In recent years, Decentralized Finance (DeFi) grows rapidly due to the development of blockchain technology and smart contracts. As of March 2023, the estimated global cryptocurrency market cap has reached approximately $949 billion. However, security incidents continue to plague the DeFi ecosystem, and one of the most notorious examples is the "Rug Pull" scam. This type of cryptocurrency scam occurs when the developer of a particular token project intentionally abandons the project and disappears with investors’ funds. Despite it only emerging in recent years, Rug Pull events have already caused significant financial losses. In this work, we manually collected and analyzed 103 real-world rug pull events, categorizing them based on their scam methods. Two primary categories were identified: Contract-related Rug Pull (through malicious functions in smart contracts) and Transaction-related Rug Pull (through cryptocurrency trading without utilizing malicious functions). Based on the analysis of rug pull events, we propose CRPWarner (short for Contract-related Rug Pull Risk Warner) to identify malicious functions in smart contracts and issue warnings regarding potential rug pulls. We evaluated CRPWarner on 69 open-source smart contracts related to rug pull events and achieved a 91.8% precision, 85.9% recall and 88.7% F1-score. Additionally, when evaluating CRPWarner on 13,484 real token contracts on Ethereum, it successfully detected 4168 smart contracts with malicious functions, including zero-day examples.
