An automatic system for segmenting speech signals used for the training of statistical prosody models is presented. Starting from a canonical transcription, the system simultaneously delivers an accurate phonetic segmentation and the matched phonetic transcription indicating pronunciation variants. Although the system is HMM-based, it uses only the speech signals of the prosody database which typically consists of a few hundred sentences with some 30 minutes total duration. Initial phone HMMs are generated with flat-start training using the canonical transcriptions of the sentences. Then iterative Viterbi search for best-matching pronunciation variants and HMM retraining is applied until convergence is attained.

Using entanglement swapping of high-level Bell states, we first derive a covert layer between the secret message and the possible output results of the entanglement swapping between any two generalized Bell states, and then propose a novel high-efficiency quantum information hiding protocol based on the covert layer. In the proposed scheme, a covert channel can be built up under the cover of a high-level quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) channel for securely transmitting secret messages without consuming any auxiliary quantum state or any extra communication resource. It is shown that this protocol not only has a high embedding efficiency but also achieves a good imperceptibility as well as a high security.

The spontaneous emission(SE) of Er3+ embedded in a double slot dielectric structure was studied by a quantum-electrodynamical formalism. The study shows that the slot width and the position of Er3+ in slot structure have a significant effect on the SE. The double slot waveguides were fabricated by embedding two low-index Er/Yb silicate material layers into high-index silicon. The radiative efficiency of Er3+ in the double slot waveguides is found to be higher than that of the single slot waveguide, which is consistent with the theory simulation. The 0.67 d B signal enhancement at 1.53 ?m in a 4.6-mm-long slot waveguide was observed pumped by 1476 nm laser. These results show the relevance of our model to study the SE processes in multilayer structures and are important for future realization of silicon-compatible active optical devices.

Heterogeneous networks(HetNets)consisting of macro cells with very large antenna arrays and a secondary tier of small cells with a few antennas each can well tackle the contradiction of large coverage of the network and high data rate at the hot ***,it is not permissible to assign orthogonal pilot sequences for all the supported users due to the large ***,we propose a pilot reduction scheme based on the heterogeneous system configurations and the unique topology of this *** reusing of pilot sequences causes the presence of the contaminated channel state information(CSI) and results in receivers' Quality of Service(QoS) *** the contaminated CSI,we provide an energy-efficient beamforming based on minimizing the total power consumption while keeping the QoS constraints satisfied and restricting the QoS outage probability below a given *** applying the approach of Bernstein approximation and semi-definite relaxation,we transform the original intractable chance constrained program to a convex problem *** results show that the average power consumption of the proposed beamforming for our pilot reduction scheme is close to that of the perfect CSI *** our scheme will greatly compress the length of pilot sequence especially for those highly densified network with large number of small cells,it will be crucially helpful to put such two-tier massive multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO) systems into practice.
