The multipath transmission structure decouples network services from a single transmission carrier, which has great potential for shaping a more secure and efficient 6G network. Existing multipath transmission schemes face challenges such as network heterogeneity, perception lag, and additional scheduling delay, which limits their ability to improve bandwidth aggregation capacity and information security. To address these issues, we propose the Sequential Reinforcement Evolution (SRE) scheme, which utilizes deep reinforcement learning to predict the value of future scheduling actions based on past network states. The SRE scheme regards improving bandwidth aggregation capacity and anti-eavesdropping ability as optimization goals, and designs a semi-symmetric attention recurrent neural network (SARNN) to better mine the sequential nature of the scheduling process. The SRE scheme utilizes approximately 500 million real network data points to pre-train the SARNN model, and performs cycle optimization during the actual deployment process. Experimental results show that SRE significantly outperforms state-of-the-art scheduling schemes with a 32% increase in bandwidth aggregation and a 117% increase in traffic security dispersion with minimal impact on latency.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world economy and mainly all activities where social distancing cannot be respected. In order to control this pandemic, screening tests such as PCR have become essential. For example, in the case of a trip, the traveler must carry out a PCR test within 72 hours before his departure and if he is not a carrier of the COVID-19, he can therefore travel by presenting, during check-in and boarding, the negative result sheet to the agent. The latter will then verify the presented sheet by trusting: (a) the medical biology laboratory, (b) the credibility of the traveler for not having changed the PCR result from 'positive to negative'. Therefore, this confidence and this verification are made without being based on any mechanism of security and integrity, despite the great importance of the PCR test results to control the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, we propose in this paper a blockchain-based decentralized trust architecture that aims to guarantee the integrity, immutability and traceability of COVID-19 test results. Our proposal also aims to ensure the interconnection between several organizations (airports, medical laboratories, cinemas, etc.) in order to access COVID-19 test results in a secure and decentralized manner. © 2021 IEEE.

The known Chinese sentiment dictionary has universal applicability, lacks the expansion of proprietary domains, and lacks support for network words. This paper proposes a new approach and applies it to the Internet news sentiment analysis text provided by the CCF Big Data Computing Intelligence Contest. First, the corpus is segmented in Chinese to obtain candidate sentiment words that have not appeared in the sentiment dictionary. The candidate sentiment words are calculated in different sentimental texts. The proportion of appearance is obtained, and the emotional tendency of candidate emotional words is obtained, and then it is merged with the emotional vocabulary ontology database to obtain the expanded emotional dictionary. Experiments show that the expanded sentiment dictionary is better than the known Chinese sentiment vocabulary ontology database in the above corpus. © 2021 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly developed through advancements in computational power and the growth of massive datasets. However, this progress has also heightened challenges in interpreting the "black-box" nature of AI models. To address these concerns, eXplainable AI (XAI) has emerged with a focus on transparency and interpretability to enhance human understanding and trust in AI decision-making processes. In the context of multimodal data fusion and complex reasoning scenarios, the proposal of Multimodal eXplainable AI (MXAI) integrates multiple modalities for prediction and explanation tasks. Meanwhile, the advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) has led to remarkable breakthroughs in natural language processing, yet their complexity has further exacerbated the issue of MXAI. To gain key insights into the development of MXAI methods and provide crucial guidance for building more transparent, fair, and trustworthy AI systems, we review the MXAI methods from a historical perspective and categorize them across four eras: traditional machine learning, deep learning, discriminative foundation models, and generative LLMs. We also review evaluation metrics and datasets used in MXAI research, concluding with a discussion of future challenges and directions. Designing and testing low-power wireless communication protocols often requires experimental deployments on real hardware in realistic settings. Infrastructure testbeds have the advantage that they allow reproducible results using different network configurations. However, most testbeds are either in- or outdoor only and do not span long and short ranges at the same time. In this work, we present an extension to the popular FlockLab testbed on a campus-scale in order to better support testing of long-range communciation, for example using the LoRa modulation. Different to existing LoRa test networks where specific protocol layers are fixed, we support custom modification above the physical hardware (above PHY) which allows the development and testing of alternative full custom MAC layers that are not based on LoRaWAN. © 2019 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Cross-modal retrieval is crucial in understanding latent correspondences across modalities. However, existing methods implicitly assume well-matched training data, which is impractical as real-world data inevitably involves imperfect alignments, i.e., noisy correspondences. Although some works explore similarity-based strategies to address such noise, they suffer from sub-optimal similarity predictions influenced by modality-exclusive information (MEI), e.g., background noise in images and abstract definitions in texts. This issue arises as MEI is not shared across modalities, thus aligning it in training can markedly mislead similarity predictions. Moreover, although intuitive, directly applying previous cross-modal disentanglement methods suffers from limited noise tolerance and disentanglement efficacy. Inspired by the robustness of information bottlenecks against noise, we introduce DisNCL, a novel information-theoretic framework for feature Disentanglement in Noisy Correspondence Learning, to adaptively balance the extraction of MII and MEI with certifiable optimal cross-modal disentanglement efficacy. DisNCL then enhances similarity predictions in modality-invariant subspace, thereby greatly boosting similarity-based alleviation strategy for noisy correspondences. Furthermore, DisNCL introduces soft matching targets to model noisy many-to-many relationships inherent in multi-modal input for noise-robust and accurate cross-modal alignment. Extensive experiments confirm DisNCL's efficacy by 2% average recall improvement. Mutual information estimation and visualization results show that DisNCL learns meaningful MII/MEI subspaces, validating our theoretical analyses. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The Dual Processor Platform (DPP) is a novel architecture template for networked embedded systems based on a strictly asynchronous processor interconnect that allows to minimize interference with a proven predictable behavior [7]. Contrary to traditional platforms [1, 5] DPP tries to mitigate interference by isolating different tasks and mapping them onto dedicated hardware resources. Typically, two different task sets - (i) sensing/actuation/data processing and (ii) communication - are mapped onto two different physically separated processing elements (usually low-power microcontrollers), allowing each to be optimized according to their individual requirements. Such hardware partitioning is a standard approach, frequently found in more complex sensor system implementations [2]. While the communication processor handles wireless packet transmission and reception, the application processor is dedicated to the sensor data acquisition, processing and actuation. But this strict separation of resources and function also requires a processor interconnect: BOLT [7], a stateful processor interconnect specifically designed based on this paradigm allows a strict decoupling of the power, clock and time domains of the two processing elements by allowing only asynchronous message passing between the two. The strict limitation to an asynchronous interface allows for predictable run-time behavior that, in addition to typical behavior observed from experiments, has been formally verified [7]. In this demo abstract we present a custom-built low-power geophone sensor node which features on-device mountaineer classification using a convolutional neural network. The execution of such a processing-heavy algorithm on an embedded platform is enabled by optimizing the memory requirement of the neural network through advanced quantization and pipelining techniques. In multi-cell multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MC MU-MIMO) visible light communication (VLC) systems, each user is equipped with multiple closely-placed photodiodes (PDs) with similar channel gains, leading to severe inter-cell interference and intra-cell interference. To address this problem, this paper proposes a hybrid dimming (HD) scheme with MIMO VLC transceiver design, which jointly optimizes transmit and receive antenna selection (TRAS), cell clustering and precoding (TRASP-HD) for MC MU-MIMO VLC systems. In this scheme, a sum-rate maximization problem under the dimming level and illumination uniformity is formulated and solved by being divided into two sub-problems. In particular, The first sub-problem is on TRAS and cell formation based on the criterion of sum-rate maximization under the illumination uniformity constraint. With the same goal, the second sub-problem is on optimizing the precoding matrices of each cell. Finally, these two sub-problems are iteratively solved to obtain a convergent solution. Simulation results verify that in a typical indoor scenario, the mean bandwidth efficiency of TRASP-HD scheme is 2.36 bit/s/Hz higher than the conventional MC MU-MIMO system.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connects various industrial devices and processes for smart manufacturing purposes. The industrial devices and processes may employ standard or private communication protocols. Protocol Reverse engineering (PRE) can infer the format of the unknown protocol by analyzing traffic traces. Existing work in the field mainly focuses on Internet protocol only, handling text messages. PRE for industrial control protocols is difficult and particularly designed for IIoT for real-time interconnection among industrial devices. Given the phenomenon that many consecutive sub-messages are often embedded in a lengthy message payload and have a similar format, a novel sub-messages extraction algorithm is proposed in this work by using template iteration as an intermediate step to form a full message format inference framework. An improved evaluation criterion is also proposed to evaluate the sub-messages extraction results. We carry out our algorithm on three standard industrial control protocols and two unknown protocols. Experiments show that adding our sub-messages extraction in PRE for IIoT can greatly improve the accuracy of the overall protocol format inference compared with the existing work. © 2022, The Authors.
