This paper presents a novel approach of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to establish a communication infrastructure in case of disasters. Due to the collapse of buildings, power systems, and antennas, the collapse of communication infrastructure is the usual effect of disasters. In this study, we propose an emergency communications system established by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system is a post-disaster solution;hence, it can be used anywhere required. In this study, first we briefly explain the details of the system in three aspects: end-to-end communication, localization and navigation, and coordination Then, we evaluate the efficiency of the localization and navigation subsystem. Our simulation studies with AirRobot quadrotor helicopters in Unified System for Automation and Robot Simulation (USARSim) simulation environment show that UAV-aided communications system can be used in case of disasters to establish an emergency communications infrastructure in terms of localization and navigation. © 2012 IEEE.

Pollen contains highly allergic proteins. One of the major causes of allergic diseases is the pollen in the air we breathe. Asthma patients are known to show allergic reaction to pollens. Therefore, they need to be more careful and avoid the factors that trigger asthma. In this study, the first step was taken to develop an artificial-intelligence-based decision support system to improve the quality of life of asthma patients. Finding the ratio of pollen in nature is a long process, and it is measured by using different instruments and hours of calculations in laboratories. In this study, Adaptive Network-Based Fuzzy Extraction System (ANFIS) and normalization methods were applied to meteorological data to estimate the breathing levels of asthma patients according to the amount of pollen in the air. The data were tested via the Artificial Neural Networks method, and it was found that the model produced better results that are very close to real values when compared to the results in ANFIS. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Effects on prey-predator with different functional responses

In this paper, we investigate the effects on prey of two predators which are also related in terms of prey-predator relationship. Different types of functional responses are con- sidered to formulate the mathematical model for predator and generalist predator of our proposed model. Harvesting effort for the generalist predator is considered and the density-dependent mortality rate for predator and generalist predator is incorporated in our proposed model. Local stability as well as global stability for the system is dis- cussed. We analyze the different bifurcation parameters to evaluate Hopf bifurcation in the neighborhood of interior equilibrium point. Finally, some numerical simulations and graphical figures are provided to verify our analytical results with the help of different sets of parameters.

The aim of the study is to develop a method for storing images of sulfur imprints. In the framework of the study, a more effective method of representing images of sulfur imprints by using knowledge of the specificity of these images was developed compared to universal methods. In particular, a method for storing images of sulfur imprints has been developed, which stores information about objects that are significant for technological analysis in the image. The developed method was tested for images of sulfur imprints of continuously cast billets for the conditions of a large metallurgical enterprise in Russia. To conduct a computational experiment, a software product was designed and developed that allows you to convert the image of a sulfur imprint into a mathematical representation, as well as the process of restoring the main image. Using the array of retrospective information of 2011-2018 and the developed software product, the calculation of the effectiveness of the presentation of graphic information in the form of a structural unit of information without directly saving the image was performed. The average share of stored information from the original volume is 0.53 percent © 2020 IEEE.

the article proposes a method of zero-watermarking for colored RGB bitmap images. This algorithm can be used to protect property rights to multimedia resources in which it is impossible to use ordinary watermarks due to the impossibility of changing the image (such as medical data where high accuracy is required and the appearance of artifacts is unacceptable) or due to the presence of a higher distortion of the container. This algorithm is based on DWT, SVD and operations in the field by modulo 256. The software implementation of the algorithm was developed (using the Accord and *** libraries to implement DWT, SVD). The software implementation of the algorithm was tested. This algorithm has advantages in the form of normalization of the average error, but it needs further research to improve its performance. ©2024 IEEE.

The process of unsteady flow of a single-phase liquid in a cylindrical reservoir arising under the elastic mode of reservoir development is considered. To describe this process, a power law of filtration is proposed for a single-phase flow in a porous medium. Within the framework of the proposed model, the task of identifying one parameter of the model characterizing the simulated reservoir system is set. To construct a discrete analog of the inverse problem, the finite difference method is used using an explicit-implicit approximation in time. To solve the resulting system of nonlinear equations, a special representation is proposed that allows reducing the nonlinear system to two independent systems of linear equations. As a result, an explicit formula is obtained for determining the approximate value of the desired reservoir parameter. Based on the proposed method, numerical experiments were carried out for model problems. © 2023 IEEE.

We investigated the process of unsupervised generative learning and the structure of informative generative representations of images of handwritten digits (MNIST dataset). Learning models with the architecture of sparse convolutional autoencoder with constraints to produce low-dimensional representations achieved successful generative learning demonstrated by high accuracy of generation of images. A well-defined, continuous and connected structure of generative representations was observed and described. Structured informative representations of unsupervised generative models can be an effective platform for investigation of origins of intelligent behaviors in artificial and biological learning systems. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

In general, failure data is obtained in the automotive industry during the warranty period. If these contain the expression of a service life characteristic for each failure, statements can be made about the reliability and availability of the systems. For this purpose, estimation methods are used to adapt empirical lifetime distributions to theoretical lifetime distributions. By means of the distribution characteristics, a prognosis of the reliability and availability to be expected is also possible beyond the observation time. In addition to the data basis to be investigated, which is available completely in test bench and experimental trials or re-censored in the field, various methods can be used for estimation. In the past, several methods have been used, such as the estimators according to ECKEL [1], Kaplan-Meier [2] or the estimators according to Pauli [3]. In general, a field failure is subject to several stresses, which can be described by expressions of several lifetime characteristics. For this application case, which occurs in the automotive industry, the known estimation methods, [1], [2], [3], cannot be used. In this paper, the necessity of multidimensional estimation methods will be introduced first. Then, a new estimation method for multidimensional metrics is presented. In a further step, mathematical proof is given that the new method can provide realistic results. Finally, two example data sets from bench testing and field are presented. Furthermore, some recommendations for the use of the new method are concretized in this context. © ESREL 2021. Published by Research Publishing, Singapore.

Work-life balance (WLB) can be described as the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities of workers in their private and business lives in addition to minimizing the conflicts between business and private lives. This can be achieved with self-scheduling of workers only by allocating fair time for private life as well as work life. In enterprises, the workers demand, starting time and working hours of a job can vary according to the nature of the job done and quantitative and qualitative characteristics of workers. The main idea of this study is to develop a method which is balancing between work and private life by considering a self-scheduled working plan regulated systematical as far as weekly or monthly determining qualities and quantities of doctors and nurses to fulfill the needs for different departments of a hospital, considering the number of patients at different hours of a day. In this study, a prototype software was developed to fulfil the requirement of workers and enterprises for balancing work-life considering demands of workers and employers. The developed software can record the numbers and attributes of required personnel to a database according to daily, weekly or monthly demands. The current numbers and attributes of workers then requirements of the employer are entered into the database. Then, workers can choose their work times by considering day and hours from this database. The developed software reconciles the needs of the enterprise and personnel demands with synchronizing the needed working hours of enterprise and selection of personnel. Work assignments are done by personnel requests. Personnel decides their own working time so that monthly and weekly schedules can be obtained. The software is coded in Ms C# programming language and is applied in a hospital. Humans always face problems when it comes to medical check-up due to lack of time or laziness. However, lots of medical problems and fatal illnesses can be detected at earlier stages if the person is subject to continuous check-up. Hence, the idea of the proposed system is to design a tool enabling the measurement of the basic vital signs with the smallest effort possible from the person's side. Thus, this paper proposes a smart medical mirror system that acts as a normal mirror and also delivers the basic vital signs of the user such as the heart rate, SPO2, body temperature, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The system takes five seconds for initialization and starts the measurements and displays the results. The user will not lose time as this check-up can be performed every morning while the person is wearing his clothes and getting ready to start his daily activities. The system was tested by multiple users having different body statuses. The recorded values showed very small differences with the exact ones. At the end, the system was able to meet the user specifications concerning its portability, sensitivity, accuracy and, most importantly, its low cost. © 2020 IEEE.
