Image Enhancement via Associated Perturbation Removal and Texture Reconstruction Learning

Degradation under challenging conditions such as rain, haze, and low light not only diminishes content visibility, but also results in additional degradation side effects, including detail occlusion and color distortion. However, current technologies have barely explored the correlation between perturbation removal and background restoration, consequently struggling to generate high-naturalness content in challenging scenarios. In this paper, we rethink the image enhancement task from the perspective of joint optimization: Perturbation removal and texture reconstruction. To this end, we advise an efficient yet effective image enhancement model, termed the perturbation-guided texture reconstruction network(PerTeRNet). It contains two subnetworks designed for the perturbation elimination and texture reconstruction tasks, respectively. To facilitate texture recovery,we develop a novel perturbation-guided texture enhancement module(PerTEM) to connect these two tasks, where informative background features are extracted from the input with the guidance of predicted perturbation priors. To alleviate the learning burden and computational cost, we suggest performing perturbation removal in a sub-space and exploiting super-resolution to infer high-frequency background details. Our PerTeRNet has demonstrated significant superiority over typical methods in both quantitative and qualitative measures, as evidenced by extensive experimental results on popular image enhancement and joint detection tasks. Myocardial strain imaging provides a valuable tool for detecting subclinical left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and adding prognostic value in assessing various types of heart disease. Recent studies have utilized highly accurate strain-dedicated techniques, such as displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE), to train a deep learning (DL) framework to predict the myocardial displacements/deformations from routine cine balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) images. However, these methods have shown limited performance in capturing the large rotational motion of the myocardium associated with twist and torsion over time, which are important aspects of myocardial mechanics. To address this gap, this paper introduces a novel DENSE-guided DL network that explicitly accounts for large rotational motion to further improve strain analysis of standard cine bSSFP images. Specifically, our proposed network includes two key components: (i) a time-series rotation estimation network employing a 3D convolutional encoder-decoder architecture to model the large rotational dynamics of the LV myocardium over time, and (ii) a radial motion prediction network based on deformable image registration. The output of these two sub-networks was integrated and refined through a fusion network to predict the final myocardial displacements, supervised by DENSE ground truth. Experimental results show that our method improves the accuracy of myocardial strain with effectively captured large rotations. © 2025 IEEE.

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

Recommender system (RS) has emanated as the most popular application of e-commerce websites. In the e-commerce business, collaborative filtering based RS systems suggest products to the customers and find the interesting things for the users which they may wish to purchase. The success rate of any recommendation system depends upon, information reliability as well as expression of daily life behavior in the consolidated format. The main task is to produce the best ranked list of ‘n-number’ of items for the user’s need. Due to the natural structure, Z-Numbers are more consistent to producing a recommendation list. To solve real life problem, Z-Numbers should be incorporated into decision-making models. However, Online shopping involved multicriteria group decision-making (MCGDM). Z-information persisting some difficulties with MCGDM. Therefore, to enhancing the ability of Z-numbers Complex Fuzzy Sets (CFSs), are employed. Besides this entropy, distance measure, and aggregation operator are combined to produced MCGDM based ranking of customer preference. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2023.

Deep learning techniques have shown success in recent years detecting visual targets. Whereas, these methods do not achieve the same excellent results in underwater sonar images target detection field due to the underwater sonar images differs greatly from the optical images. It is the primary objective of this study to apply typical algorithms to the domain of underwater sonar image object detection. The related algorithms Faster R-CNN, SSD and YOLO V5 which used in our experiments were introduced firstly. Then we make a comparative study on the effects of the typical target detection algorithms Faster-RCNN, SSD and YOLO V5 on underwater sonar images, and compared the effects of these typical target detection algorithms when applied to the field of target detection in images taken by underwater sonar equipment separately. On our underwater sonar images dataset, none of these algorithms performed as well as they did on VOC2007. And the results of comparing the expression of these several algorithms on the dataset might helpful for the researches of sonar technology and help to promote sonar's use in related detection tasks. © 2022 IEEE.

Entity linking refers to linking a string in a text to corresponding entities in a knowledge base through candidate entity generation and candidate entity *** is of great significance to some NLP(natural language processing)tasks,such as question *** English entity linking,Chinese entity linking requires more consideration due to the lack of spacing and capitalization in text sequences and the ambiguity of characters and words,which is more evident in certain *** Chinese domains,such as industry,the generated candidate entities are usually composed of long strings and are heavily *** addition,the meanings of the words that make up industrial entities are sometimes *** semantic space is a subspace of the general word embedding space,and thus each entity word needs to get its exact ***,we propose two schemes to achieve better Chinese entity ***,we implement an ngram based candidate entity generation method to increase the recall rate and reduce the nesting ***,we enhance the corresponding candidate entity ranking mechanism by introducing sense *** the contradiction between the ambiguity of word vectors and the single sense of the industrial domain,we design a sense embedding model based on graph clustering,which adopts an unsupervised approach for word sense induction and learns sense representation in conjunction with *** test the embedding quality of our approach on classical datasets and demonstrate its disambiguation ability in general *** confirm that our method can better learn candidate entities’fundamental laws in the industrial domain and achieve better performance on entity linking through experiments.

This paper proposes a new multimodal approach for dog emotion detection using both audio and video streams to enhance the understanding of a dog’s emotional states. Most existing approaches focus on single-modality methods, analyzing either barking and other non-verbal vocal signals in isolation or facial and body gestures separately. In contrast, this system combines advanced deep learning techniques: the CNN-LSTM for audio signal analysis, and ResNet for image analysis, to reach a better comprehension. As shown in this system, the late fusion method that employs the advantages of both modalities significantly enhanced the emotion recognition rate. This research addresses this challenge by proposing a new multimodal dataset for model training and evaluation. The proposed system will be employed in real-time IoT-based dog monitoring applications that help improve the health of pets and reinforce human-animal bonds.

Conductors within a loaded electric machine commonly induce the highest loss. Numerous cooling solutions exist for high-power density electric machine conductors with external water jackets being the most common. The inherent disadvantage of water jacket cooling is the thermal resistance between the conductor and the cooling medium, which reduces the maximum cooling capacity, regardless of the jacket design. This restriction commonly leads designers to implement solutions such as end-turn cooling. The advances in additive manufacturing have unlocked new potential for conductor end-turn cooling. This paper investigates an additively-manufactured conductor with an integrated end-turn heat exchanger. The conductor is based around a Formula Student in-hub motor. This concept utilizes air-cooling and demonstrates a steady-state current density of 11 A/mm2 for a AlSi10Mg end-turn heat-exchanger conductor, without the added mass and complexity of liquid cooling solutions. If copper is used instead of AlSi10Mg, this value increases to approximately 22 A/mm2. © 2022 IEEE.

As hybrid power plants (HPPs), such as photovoltaic (PV) and battery combinations, become increasingly important in power systems with high renewable energy penetration to address PV variability and ensure grid stability. This paper focuses on the urgent need to model the coordination between PV and battery systems in HPPs while accounting for battery degradation. We present a generation scheduling model that explicitly incorporates PV-battery hybridization in the unit commitment problem. Moreover, the cost function of the HPP scheduling problem endogenously considers battery degradation with adjustable weights to strike a balance between minimizing production costs and prolonging battery life, particularly when providing energy arbitrage and ancillary services. Using a realistic island system simulation, we demonstrate that accounting for battery degradation in the scheduling problem can significantly extend battery life with only minor additional production costs. © 2023 IEEE.

Soil salinity is a serious land degradation issue in *** is a major threat to agriculture *** irrigation water is applied to leach down the salts from the root zone of the plants in the form of a Leaching fraction(LF)of irrigation *** the leaching process to be effective,the LF of irriga-tion water needs to be adjusted according to the environmental conditions and soil salinity level in the form of Evapotranspiration(ET)*** relationship between environmental conditions and ET rate is hard to be deﬁned by a linear relationship and data-driven Machine learning(ML)based decisions are required to determine the calibrated Evapotranspiration(ETc)***-assisted ETc is pro-posed to adjust the LF according to the ETc and soil salinity level.A regression model is proposed to determine the ETc rate according to the prevailing tempera-ture,humidity,and sunshine,which would be used to determine the smart LF according to the ETc and soil salinity *** proposed model is trained and tested against the Blaney Criddle method of Reference evapotranspiration(ETo)*** validation of the model from the test dataset reveals the accu-racy of the ML model in terms of Root mean squared errors(RMSE)are 0.41,Mean absolute errors(MAE)are 0.34,and Mean squared errors(MSE)are 0.28 mm *** applications of the proposed solution in a real-time environ-ment show that the LF by the proposed solution is more effective in reducing the soil salinity as compared to the traditional process of leaching.
