Collaborative Service Provisioning for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.

Automation has revolutionized scientific research, particularly in cell culture, where it enhances efficiency and minimizes variability. Traditional cell culture faces challenges, often leading to stress-induced cell senescence. To address these challenges, we are developing an enclosed, automated system with a robotic fluid handling system and 60 independent bioreactors. Aiming for clinical applications, the system is required to maintain tight environmental control for optimal cell culture conditions. This paper reports on the development of the control system for maintaining the gaseous carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration within the enclosed system. In particular, we develop a predictor feedback CO2 controller to regulate the CO2 concentration. A baseline traditional feedback controller is also implemented for comparison. This work contributes to advancing automated cell culture systems, emphasizing the importance of precise environmental control for higher-quality cell cultures. The developed predictor feedback CO2 controller offers a promising control solution to reducing stress-induced variations and will be suitable for clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Abnormal formation of cells in a layer. The brain is known as the brain cancer complex, and a brain cancer detection system is needed to detect cancer in its early stages Phase. As a result, the primary goal of this initiative is to assist existing doctors in their training for the early identification o f brain cancer by utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is the most effective approach to identifying brain cancer. This system is done through four components, and it has made it easier to detect brain tumors. These techniques with different image processing techniques include noise removal, segmentation, classification, a nd u se o fa nalysis segments f or detection. Pre-processing techniques prepare the image for further processing by removing image noise. During segmentation, the brain tumor system determines the size of the brain tumor and estimates its size. Specialists should examine them and classify brain tumors as meningiomas, gliomas, and pituitary tumors. In analysis, this component is expected to be designed so that users or medical experts can know the future through a dashboard. We explored the methodology of using generative adversarial networks (GANs) implemented in TensorFlow to denominate brain tumor images. Analyses the outcomes of various types of established deep learning models on the brain tumor MR image datasets, such as classification methods ResNet-50, VGG 16, CNN, and Inception V3. The validation precision, AUC, recall, and validation loss for CNN are 95.3%, 99.43%, 92.1 %, and 0.360 adjustments respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

The creation of a safety system that is based on GPS and is developed exclusively for the health and safety of women via the incorporation of novel elements in order to meet the rising concerns about crimes committed against women. The gadget is capable of contacting authorities, conveying the user's position via SMS, and generating a loud noise to attract attention. It may be triggered in anticipation of potential danger and can be activated in the event that danger is imminent. In order to guarantee that only authorized users are able to activate the device, the system makes use of fingerprint recognition in a very unique way. Using technologies such as global positioning system (GPS), global system for mobile communications (GSM), and microcontrollers, this study makes a contribution to the continuing efforts to improve the safety of women via technological innovation. It provides a proactive approach to prevent violence against women and save lives. The research emphasizes the significance of combining hardware and software in order to provide a complete safety tool. It also illustrates the vital role that quick support plays and the potential of such gadgets to promote confidence among women in public places. © 2024 IEEE.

Learning behavior in legged robots presents a significant challenge due to its inherent instability and complex constraints. Recent research has proposed the use of a large language model (LLM) to generate reward functions in reinforcement learning, thereby replacing the need for manually designed rewards by experts. However, this approach, which relies on textual descriptions to define learning objectives, fails to achieve controllable and precise behavior learning with clear directionality. In this paper, we introduce a new video2reward method, which directly generates reward functions from videos depicting the behaviors to be mimicked and learned. Specifically, we first process videos containing the target behaviors, converting the motion information of individuals in the videos into keypoint trajectories represented as coordinates through a video2text transforming module. These trajectories are then fed into an LLM to generate the reward function, which in turn is used to train the policy. To enhance the quality of the reward function, we develop a video-assisted iterative reward refinement scheme that visually assesses the learned behaviors and provides textual feedback to the LLM. This feedback guides the LLM to continually refine the reward function, ultimately facilitating more efficient behavior learning. Experimental results on tasks involving bipedal and quadrupedal robot motion control demonstrate that our method surpasses the performance of state-of-the-art LLM-based reward generation methods by over 37.6% in terms of human normalized score. More importantly, by switching video inputs, we find our method can rapidly learn diverse motion behaviors such as walking and running. © 2024 The Authors.

The local resolving dominating set studied in this paper is a notion that combines two concepts in graph theory, the local metric dimension and dominations in graphs. Let G and H be connected graphs of orders n and m, respectively;and x a vertex in H hereafter referred to as a linkage vertex. The comb product of G and H denoted by G.H, is a graph obtained by taking one copy of G and n copies of H and attaching the i-th copy of H at the vertex x to the i-th vertex of G. In this paper, we determine the local resolving dominating set of the comb products G. Sn with two different linkage vertices, G. Kn, G. Km,n and G. The fourth industrial revolution has seen the evolution and wide adoption of game-changing and disruptive innovation "financial technologies (FinTech)" around the globe. However, the security of FinTech systems and networks remains critical. This paper comprehensively reviews the evolving landscape of cybersecurity issues within the FinTech sector and explores effective mitigation measures. Four independent researchers reviewed relevant literature from IEEE Xplore Digital Library, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, Emerald Insight, Springer, SAGE, Wiley Online Library, Hindawi, MDPI, ACM Digital Library, IGI Global, and Google Scholar. The research paper begins by examining the history and evolution of FinTech, drivers for the growth of FinTech, segments of the FinTech industry, FinTech ecosystem, FinTech business model, and FinTech application. Subsequently, it then delves into an analysis of the most pressing cybersecurity issues confronting FinTech firms, such as privacy concerns, data breaches, malware attacks, hacking, insider threats, identity theft, social engineering attacks, distributed denial-of-service attacks, and others. In response to these cybersecurity issues, the paper evaluates various mitigation strategies and best practices adopted by FinTech firms and regulatory bodies globally. These measures include technological solutions such as authentication and access control mechanisms, cryptography, big data analytics, intrusion detection/prevention systems, regular data backup, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing technologies, blockchain technologies, and fraud detection and prevention systems. The paper also emphasizes the importance of FinTech regulatory sandboxes, regulatory compliance, basic security training, continuous monitoring of threats, zero-trust policy, robust cybersecurity culture, regular testing, and stringent security policies to strengthen the FinTech ecosystem's cyber resilience. Smartphone sensors play a pivotal role in delineating user behaviour, particularly in the context of keystroke dynamics-based implicit and active/continuous authentication, as well as liveness detection. The acquisition of multifaceted sensory data during typing serves as a fundamental source of behavioural attributes, yet the field faces several intricate challenges requiring careful consideration to recalibrate the delicate balance between security and usability. Notable challenges encompass the capricious nature of anomaly detectors when confronted with unavoidable influencing factors, the substantial battery drainage associated with prolonged sensor operation, the computational inefficiency intrinsic to smartphones, and the imperative need for usability control in frequently switching applications and balancing security in both device and application levels, especially in scenarios with varying security requirements. This study endeavours to mitigate these challenges through the implementation of cutting-edge anomaly detection techniques, incorporating four distinct schemes—namely, column medians template formation, synthetic samples, soft biometrics and score-level fusion. The study further leverages advanced sensory patterns, including gyroscope, accelerometer and rotational information, captured during abbreviated typing intervals at a low sampling rate to mitigate battery consumption. In the pursuit of enhanced usability control, a Watchman score is assigned to each running application, dictating security adjustments based on genuineness evaluations of micro-behaviours within predefined temporal windows. A novel rule-based mechanism is introduced to govern device and application security within a continuous authentication mode. This empirical investigation, supported by robust statistical evidence, aspires to yield more precise, energy-efficient, and user-friendly implicit and active user identity verification mechanisms. Although the containers are featured by light-weightness, it is still resource-consuming to pull and startup a large container image, especially in relatively resource-constrained edge cloud. Fortunately, Docker, as the most widely used container, provides a unique layered architecture that allows the same layer to be shared between microservices so as to lower the deployment cost. Meanwhile, it is highly desirable to deploy dependent microservices of an application together to lower the operation cost. Therefore, the balancing of microservice deployment cost and the operation cost should be considered comprehensively to achieve minimal overall cost of an on-demand application. In this paper, we first formulate this problem into a Quadratic Integer Programming form (QIP) and prove it as a NP-hard problem. We further propose a Randomized Rounding-based Microservice Deployment and Layer Pulling (RR-MDLP) algorithm with low computation complexity and guaranteed approximation ratio. Through extensive experiments, we verify the high efficiency of our algorithm by the fact that it significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art microservice deployment strategies. © 2023 IEEE.
