Human Endogenous RetroViruses(HERVs) are suggested that they have a function of regulating the activity of human genes and could produce protein in some conditions. So it is crucial to examine the physical layout relationship between HERVs and genes in the whole genome scale. In this paper we present RetroScope, a new Web-based comparative visualization system for HERV over 4 whole primate genomes including Human, Chimpanzee, Orangutan and Rhesus monkey. So RetroScope enables us to find the retro element which is very close to a specified gene in the form of exonoverlapping or promotor, primer overlapping. Thus our system enables biologist to provide global understanding by comparing the linear configuration of several HERVs in the whole chromosome scales by using a fast HERV alignment algorithm. Also by alignment of HERVs, we can find the most similar pair of chromosomes with respect to the configuration of HERV elements, which would be another clues to construct phylogenetics based on HERV. This paper studies the problem of estimating the sub-frame temporal offset between unsynchronised, non-stationary cameras. Based on motion trajectory correspondences, the estimation is done in two steps. First, we propose an algorithm to robustly estimate the frame accurate offset by analysing the trajectories and matching their characteristic time patterns. Using this result, we then show how the estimation of the fundamental matrix between two cameras can be reformulated to yield the sub-frame accurate offset from nine correspondences. We verify the robustness and performance of our approach on synthetic data as well as on real video sequences.

Shadow maps are commonly used in real-time rendering, but they cannot be filtered linearly like standard color, resulting in severe aliasing. Variance shadow maps resolve this problem by representing the depth distribution using moments, which can be linearly filtered. However, variance shadow maps suffer from "light bleeding" artifacts and require high-precision texture filtering hardware. We introduce layered variance shadow maps, which provide simultaneous solutions to both of these limitations. By partitioning the shadow map depth range into multiple layers, we eliminate all light bleeding between different layers. Using more layers increases the quality of the shadows at the expense of additional storage. Because each of these layers covers a reduced depth range, they can be stored in lower precision than would be required with typical variance shadow maps, enabling their use on a much wider range of graphics hardware. We also describe;an iterative optimization algorithm to automatically position layers so as to maximize the utility of each. Our algorithm is easy to implement on current graphics hardware and provides an efficient, scalable solution to the problem of shadow map filtering.
