In this paper, we propose an adaptive stereo matching algorithm to encompass stereo matching problems in projective distortion region. Since the projective distortion region can not be estimated in terms of fixed-size block matching algorithm, we tried to use adaptive window warping method in hierarchical matching process to compensate the perspective distortions. In addition, probability theory was adopted to encompass uncertainty of disparity of points over the window in this study. The proposed stereo matching algorithm has been tested on both disparity map and 3D model view. The experimental results show that remarkable improvement is obtained in the projective distortion region.

We propose a binary Markov random field (MRF) model that assigns high probability to regions in the image domain consisting of an unknown number of circles of a given radius. We construct the model by discretizing the `gas of circles' phase field model in a principled way, thereby creating an `equivalent'MRF. The behaviour of the resulting MRF model is analyzed, and the performance of the new model is demonstrated on various synthetic images as well as on the problem of tree crown detection in aerial images.

image retrieval based on region is one of the most promising and active research directions in recent year's CBIR, while region segmentation, feature selection and feature extraction of region are key issues. However, the existing approaches always adopt a uniform approach of segmentation and feature extraction for all images in the same system. In this paper, we propose adaptive image segmentation and feature extraction approach according to different category image for image retrieval system. To improve performance, we propose adaptive segmentation approach according to different category image. Textured image is segmented by Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), while non-textured image is segmented by our proposed block-based normalized cut. To accurately describe feature of region, we propose weight assignment method for centroid pixel and its neighbor by convolution with normal distribution when image segmentation by GMM. To improve generalization, we propose adaptive number of Fourier descriptors of shape signature which depends on the energy distribution of Fourier descriptors, instead of fixed number by experience. To simply and efficiently describe the spatial relationships of multi-object or multi-region in same image, we apply simplified topological relationships. The experiments demonstrate that proposed approaches are superior to the traditional approaches. © 2010 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

As the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system work environment is a high-temperature environment for a long time, it is difficult to obtain the SOFC stack internal state change directly. When the fault occurs, it is difficult to determine where the fault occurs. Moreover, the existing literature ignores the impact of faults, which creates many problems for SOFC system control. Therefore, a state observer-based fault detection method, which is used to detect the input flow sensor fault and the fuel input fault, is proposed. Their advantage is that they do not need data processing. To realize the fault detection, the observer is used to track the changes of SOFC stack chamber temperature. To obtain the observer estimation parameter, an approach from the actual stack structure parameters is employed to approximate the observer parameters. The results show the proposed fault detect method can judge fuel input fault type quickly and shield the disturbances signals from the sensor effectively. The proposed method also can be used to other operating points or air input fault. © 2018 Chinese Automatic Control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd

image annotation refinement using dynamic weighted voting based on mutual information

Automatic image annotation is a promising solution to narrow the semantic gap between low-level content and high-level semantic concept, which has been an active research area in the fields of image retrieval, pattern recognition, and machine learning. However, even the most dedicated annotation algorithms are often unsatisfactory. image annotation refinement has attracted much more attention recently. In this paper, a novel refinement algorithm using dynamic voting based on mutual information is proposed. Unlike the traditional refinement algorithm, the proposed algorithm adopts dynamic weighted voting to measure the dependence between the candidate annotations, which not only permits that the annotations with higher probabilities deny the annotations with lower probabilities, but also permits that the annotations with lower probabilities deny the annotations with higher probabilities. The proposed refinement algorithm adopts progressive method instead of iterative, which can significantly decrease the time cost of refining annotations. In order to further improve efficiency without sacrificing precision, we propose the block-based normalized cut algorithm to segment image. Experiments conducted on standard Washington Ground Truth image Database demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed approach for refining image annotations. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

This paper presents a semiautomatic method for the identification of immunohistochemical (IHC) staining in digitized samples. The user trains the system by selecting on a sample image some typical positive stained regions that will be used as a reference for the construction of a distance metric. In this learning process, the global optimum is obtained by induction employing higher polynomial terms of the Mahalanobis distance, extracting nonlinear features of the IHC pattern distributions. The results of the proposed method showed a high correlation to a pathologist's manual analysis, which was used as a golden standard, presenting a more robust discrimination between stained and non-stained areas with little bias. © 2009 IEEE.

The inspection of lead-frame is important in semiconductor industry. During the production process, the quality control of lead-frame plays an important role. Here we introduce a method for inspection of contamination and plating quality of lead frame. The basic method of segmentation of interested lead surface into five classes is discussed based on the samples supplied from IC manufacturing company. A two-stage inspection method is introduced based on the basic five classes. The discussion of the system realization and experimental results show the idea.

Requirement for a person to face a camera for face identification process may no longer be necessary if the face recognition system is robust against variation of facial pose. In this paper, we proposed a face recognition method which remains reliable even in very large head pose variations. In this method, feature from local regions of face are extracted after employing both discrete cosine transform and discrete wavelet transform. Learning strategy is then applied to infer the relationship between face in a given pose and its frontal view. Results we obtained are very promising considering that our proposed method solely relies on a single gallery image. We also demonstrated the high performance of our method in a condition whereby the face images are of low-resolution quality.

The popular formulas of evaluating the similarity of digital watermarks have serious drawbacks: when the similarity degree is 1, the watermarks are not unique. This paper firstly analyzes the drawbacks in the popular formulas, then proposes a new similarity degree formula, which weakens the shortcomings of the existing formulas and overcomes the lack of uniqueness in theory. From the experimental results, the new formula not only does well in evaluating the watermark's similarity degree, but also is in good accordance with visual perception. © 2011 ISSN 1881-803X.

Virtual simulation experiment teaching can be carried out in any environment without the limitation of time and space, and used repeatedly for learning, more intuitive understanding of principle and method of the whole experiment, to combine the experimental content and abstract theory, and teachers can improve students' learning situation in virtual simulation teaching line tracking. The exploration and application of evaluation system of virtual simulation practice teaching under the background of new engineering is carried out. By scoring the students' preview, operation, experimental results and reports, and examination, a four-stage process evaluation method of 'preview before class - experimental operation - review after class comprehensive assessment' is constructed. The core of the evaluation system is the cultivation of virtual simulation talents' practice and innovation ability, and virtual simulation is emphasized. The exploration of real experiment teaching process evaluation system and the establishment of comprehensive evaluation index system can promote the deep integration of classroom teaching and virtual simulation experiment teaching, cultivate virtual simulation practice teaching resources and develop teachers, and make the virtual simulation experiment teaching evaluation mode more perfect. © 2021 IEEE.
