Visualizing sets of isosurfaces from 3D scalar ensemble fields is a difficult task due to inherent occlusion effects, yet it is often required to analyze the uncertainty represented by such an ensemble. In this paper, we present a novel visualization technique for ensembles of isosurfaces based on screen-space silhouettes. By using silhouettes, the displayed information is reduced to avoid occlusions, yet the major shape of the surfaces can be maintained. Our approach preserves spatial coherence and does not make any assumption about the underlying surface distribution. By providing additional mechanisms, i.e., picking, clustering, cutting and animation, we enable the user to explore an ensemble of surfaces interactively.

Predictive statistical models are used in the area of adaptive user interfaces to model user behavior and to infer user information from interaction events in an implicit and non-intrusive way. This information constitutes the basis for tailoring the user interface to the needs of the individual user. Consequently, the user analysis process should model the user with information, which can be used in various systems to recognize user activities, intentions and roles to accomplish an adequate adaptation to the given user and his current task. In this paper we present the improved prediction algorithm KO*/19, which is able to recognize, beside interaction predictions, behavioral patterns for recognizing user activities. By means of this extension, the evaluation shows that the KO*/19Algorithm improves the Mean Prediction Rank more than 19% compared to other well-established prediction algorithms.

This paper presents a method that takes advantage of powerful graphics hardware to obtain fully affine-invariant image feature detection and matching. The chosen approach is the accurate, but also very computationally expensive, ASIFT algorithm. We have created a CUDA version of this algorithm that is up to 70 times faster than the original implementation, while keeping the algorithm's accuracy close to that of ASIFT. It's matching performance is therefore much better than that of other non-fully affine-invariant algorithms. Also, this approach was adapted to fit the multi-GPU paradigm in order to assess the acceleration potential from modern GPU clusters.
