Classification of the Structural Integrity by the General Vibration Method

Traditionally, for the purpose of classifying the integrity of an engineering structure, one may use the information of the natural frequencies or mode shapes or some other measures derived from the two. In this research, we propose a classification method on the basis of the general vibration model. The general vibration model is essentially a set of differential equations describing the dynamics of the structure under consideration. For the purpose of damage detection, a deviation of the general vibration model from the dynamic equilibrium point marks the occurrence of the damage. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the method, we study two simplest dynamical systems consisting of one- and two-concentrated masses subjected to a prescribed dynamic load. The structural damages are introduced artificially by reducing the stiffness of spring in the structures. We find that the general vibration model is more sensitive to damages than the traditional methods.

A Study of the Sensitivity of the Fuel Consumption to Driving Strategy by Micro Simulation

Global warming due to excessive emission greenhouse gases is a significant issue faced by humanity, and collectively, cars and trucks contribute about 20% to the entire global-warming gases. For a reason, recently, many attempts have been endured to reduce the emission and to increase fuel efficiency, including vehicle platooning, better driving strategy, and increasing engine efficiency. This study intends to provide a more detail assessment regarding the effects of the driving strategy to fuel consumption. For the purpose, the vehicle dynamics are quantified by employing the car-following model based on the optimal velocity model. The fuel consumption is estimated from the regression model of Ahn 18 . The result suggests that the braking distance strongly affects fuel consumption.

Data Engineering Pipeline to Analyse Jakarta's Air Quality during COVID-19-Caused Lockdown Periods

Jakarta lifted up lockdown after passing more than 50 days of large-scale social activity restriction and initiated phase opening to new normal. To analyse Jakarta's air quality after passing lockdown, a pipeline of data engineering is needed. By acquiring time series data from ***, a time-series database system is developed with Python programming language and its fundamental libraries namely Pandas, NumPy, SQLite. After PM 2.5 data are pre-processed into average per-hour and grouped by applicable periods (pre-lockdown, lockdown, and phase opening), a pattern of PM 2.5 in South Jakarta is revealed by using data visualization library Matplotlib. The apex of PM 2.5 occurs earlier during lockdown (04:00) and phase opening (02:00) rather than when it was normal or pre-lockdown (08:00) even though the nadir of PM2.5 still occurs at the same time (16:00 – 17:00).

The paper gives the author's vision of what the main barriers to the creation and implementation of new technologies in the field of virtual and augmented reality may exist during the implementation of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation program. Since some of the authors took part in the development of roadmaps for this program, there is a two-sided vision of the problem. Authors can put themselves in the shoes of both the funding organization for this project and the campaign that is developing concretely in this area. Almost two years have passed since this program was launched. The conclusions of the article can be useful both for organizations funding this program and for grant recipients

This paper examines the relationship between user pageview (PV) histories and their item-choice behavior on an e-commerce website. We focus on PV sequences, which represent time series of the number of PVs for each user-item pair. We propose a shape-restricted optimization model that accurately estimates item-choice probabilities for all possible PV sequences. This model imposes monotonicity constraints on item-choice probabilities by exploiting partial orders for PV sequences, according to the recency and frequency of a user's previous PVs. To improve the computational efficiency of our optimization model, we devise efficient algorithms for eliminating all redundant constraints according to the transitivity of the partial orders. Experimental results using real-world clickstream data demonstrate that our method achieves higher prediction performance than that of a state-of-the-art optimization model and common machine learning methods. The main objective of this research is to explore the success factors of implementation information technology (IT) in supply chain management. The method used is a literature review with meta-analysis approach, meta-analysis used by using keywords that describe the search. The results of this study found 56 success factors, after further analysis found 21 success factors are very influential from the implementation IT, among others: Efficient, Integration, Cost, Effectiveness, Communication, Ability, Timeliness, Accurate, Accurate, Performance, Coordination, Flexible, Automation, Quality, Transparent, Real-Time, Responsiveness, Trust, Speed, Completeness, Relationships, Suitability. This factor gives the company the desire to implement IT in the supply chain. The application of IT has a positive influence on all supply chain activities so it can improve the processes that occur within the company from purchasing raw materials, production processes, logistics, customer service. All this gives the opportunity for a company to compete globally with others. © 2018 IEEE.

IT Governance are one of the needs in managing Enterprise Level IT. This study shows part of the decision domain of IT Governance Help, which are IT Investment and Prioritization. The purpose of this study is to determine feasibility of implementation open source ERP system Odoo project management module that replaces current system based on operational, economic, and technical aspects. The method used are Fit / Gap Analysis and Cost Benefit model using economic impact worksheet. The analysis is done by comparing the requirement with features owned by current system and Odoo ERP system. This research resulted that Odoo ERP System is feasible in the 3 aspects, the operational feasibility Odoo reaching 72% Fit, the economic feasibility with ROI of 84%, and technical feasibility indicating the technical requirement can be fulfilled by leasing AWS server. The conclusion is the open source ERP system Odoo project management module is feasible to be applied in terms of 3 aspects that have been studied, those are operational, economic, and technical.

There are numerous large-scale applications requiring mesh adaptivity, e.g., computational uid dynamics and weather prediction. Parallel processing is needed for simulations involving large-scale adaptive meshes. In this paper, we propose a parallel variational mesh quality improvement algorithm for use with distributed memory machines. Our method parallelizes the serial variational mesh quality improvement method by Huang and Kamenski. Their approach is based on the use of the Moving Mesh PDE method to adapt the mesh based on the minimization of an energy functional for mesh equidistribution and alignment. This leads to a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) to be solved which determine where to move the interior mesh nodes. An efficient solution is obtained by solving the ODEs on subregions of the mesh with overlapped communication and computation. Strong and weak scaling experiments on up to 128 cores for meshes with up to 160M elements demonstrate excellent results. © 2019 Proceedings of the 28th International Meshing Roundtable, IMR 2019. In this paper, we propose a cybersecurity exercise system in a virtual computer environment. The human resource development for security fields is an urgent issue because of the threat of cyber-attacks, recently, is increasing, many incidents occurring, but there is a not enough security personnel to respond. Some universities and companies are conducting education using a commercial training system on the market. However, built and operates the training system is expensive, therefore difficult to use in higher education institutions and SMEs. However, to build and operates, the training system needs high cost, thus difficult to use in higher education institutions and SMEs. For this reason, we developed the CyExec: a cybersecurity exercise system consisting of a virtual computer environment using VirtualBox and Docker. We also implemented the WebGoat that is an OSS vulnerability diagnosis and learning program on the CyExec and developed an attack and defense exercise program.

Although the Brazilian "Bolsa Família" program (BFP) was largely discussed due to its economic and social outcomes, little is known about the information systems (IS) that support BFP. In the context of BFP, CadÚnico system emerged as the registry for citizens who seek to qualify for BFP income transfers, as well as it is an important source of information for other public policies. This paper presents a case study of BFP’s evolution over decades through the CadÚnico *** analyze howthe CadÚnico system evolved in Brazil from a fragmented, offline databases in the early 2000 to a unified, online registry essential to BFP operation. Based on enrolment operations, the paper explains how CadÚnico first attracted other ministries from the Federal Government and later attracted municipalities to data registering. By analyzing BFP IS, we bring more evidences to the political and incremental nature of IS development in developing countries. © IFIP International Federation for information Processing 2020.
