In this paper, a vector segmentation algorithm of volumetric data based on the 3D Delaunay triangulation is presented. A modified variational meshing method is used to adapt tetrahedral mesh to the underlying CT/MRI volumetric data. Moreover, to classify tetrahedra in the mesh into regions whose characteristics are similar, a clustering scheme viewing the mesh as undirected graph with edges weighted according to similarity of tetrahedra is discussed.

In this paper, a vector segmentation algorithm based on an adaptive Delaunay triangulation is proposed. Triangular meshes are used to divide an image into several non-overlapping regions whose characteristics are similar. This paper describes several approaches to keyword spotting (KWS) for informal continuous speech. We compare acoustic keyword spotting, spotting in word lattices generated by large vocabulary continuous speech recognition and a hybrid approach making use of phoneme lattices generated by a phoneme recognizer. The systems are compared on carefully defined test data extracted from ICSI meeting database. The acoustic and phoneme-lattice based KWS are based on a phoneme recognizer making use of temporal-pattern (TRAP) feature extraction and posterior estimation using neural nets. We show its superiority over traditional HMM/GMM systems. The advantages and drawbacks of different approaches are discussed.

We present a novel algorithm for adaptive triangular mesh coarsening. The algorithm has two stages. First, the input triangular mesh is refined by iteratively applying the adaptive subdivision operator that performs a so-called red-green split. Second, the refined mesh is simplified by a clustering algorithm based on centroidal Voronoi tessellations (CVTs). The accuracy and good quality of the output triangular mesh are achieved by combining adaptive subdivision and the CVTs technique. Test results showed the mesh coarsening scheme to be robust and effective. Examples are shown that validate the method.

Software assurance is not a new discipline, but industry is expressing a need for a stronger knowledge of and improved skills in software assurance. Poor quality software is a serious problem that continues to grow. This requires a skill that few professionals can provide. Training and education are important factors to increase knowledge and skill. Software assurance topics in academia are limited, so there is a need for additional research on the subject. This research focuses on the need for software assurance topics in academia. The results identified the gap of knowledge in the education of software assurance. Important software assurance concepts have been disregarded in the college curriculum leaving industry struggling for skilled professionals. These concepts are identified and must be incorporated into a college curriculum to close the gap. A comparison was made to analyze the topics that are not discussed in academia. The comparison between computing curricula and the Software Assurance: A Curriculum Guide to the Common Body of Knowledge to Produce, Sustain, and Acquire Software (CBK) resulted in a guide of topics to be addressed in academia. The CBK was not entirely addressed in any of the computing curriculum. The topics that were poorly covered in the computing curricula were identified and categorized. These results should be the primary topics incorporated into computer courses and utilized in the development of new software assurance courses. Copyright 2010 ACM.
