Blockchain technology is among the fastest-growing technologies in the world today. It has been adopted in diverse areas but mostly in financial systems, such as Bitcoin cryptocurrency. Therefore, it is a niche that has attracted interest from researchers from various fields, including computer science. Other areas where Blockchain is being embraced are the Smart Grid and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, among others. While it is all good and improving many areas of applications, Blockchain still has some shortcomings. For example, it is not designed for high scalability when accommodating normal transactions. On the other hand, a parallel technology that has diverse applications in distributednetworks better known as edge computing has emerged. Its main advantage is that it increases the speed of pf processes within those networks. However, like Blockchain, edge computing has its shortcomings. Its security systems and management systems have been foundto be wanting. Hence the idea to integrate the two technologies and take advantage of their strengths. A blend of the two would lead to advanced network servers, huge data storage, and heightened security in transactions. However, this integration will best happen when some measures are taken. For example, there is a need to address scalability, resource management satisfactorily, and the security of the systems. A human vision system-based approach to improve computing efficiency in information systems

While a lot of research has been done in system design, reducing computational complexity is still a core problem in information systems. In order to break through the bottleneck of computing efficiency, this paper draws on the powerful processing capability of the human vision system (HVS) to propose a pixel domain computing framework. It converts the original problem into pixel operations, and pixels are taken as the basic unit to change the construction process of data analysis. The framework significantly decreases computational complexity, simplifies programming logic, and enhances the automaticity of information system. Our results demonstrate that the efficiency of the containment test is improved by 30 times, the logic complexity of the intersection area measurement is reduced by a factor of five, and the automaticity of root finding is significantly heightened. © 2019 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

This study investigates a Cloud–Edge-sensors infrastructure using M/M/c/K queuing theory to analyze agricultural data systems’ performance. It focuses on optimizing data handling and evaluates the system configuration impacts on performance. The model significantly enhances efficiency and scalability, minimizing the need for extensive physical infrastructure. Analysis shows over 90% utilization in both layers, highlighting the model's applicability to various IoT applications. The M/M/c/K queuing model addresses scalability and real-time data processing challenges in agricultural cloud–edge-sensor networks, improving over traditional methods lacking dynamic scalability. Designed for optimized resource use and reduced data handling delays, this model proves crucial in precision agriculture, where timely data is essential for decision-making. Its versatility extends to various agricultural applications requiring efficient real-time analysis and resource management. © 2025 The Authors

Electrical and thermal processes, occurring while heating materials in metallic capacities of cylindrical form, are examined. The peculiarities of those processes are defined, and it is shown that their essence is in the way of distributing the sources of heat, while using different methods of electrical heating, in the change of properties of the heated material under varying temperature and in the course of the process in time. Mathematical model to calculate the thermal process, taking place in the heated material, taking into consideration the changes of its thermal parameters, as well as the character of the controlling electrical actions, is developed. On the basis of differential equation of the process of heating and boundary conditions, difference equations are formed, which allow to solve the task by numerical method. The solution is carried out by the method of passing. Analytical dependences to determine the coefficient of the method of passing, and temperature in the random point of the heated material are obtained. It is proposed to carry out the correction of the thermal parameters of the heated material while calculating the coefficients in the process f the "direct" course of the method of passing. The values of temperature of the material, obtained in the period of the preceding "reverse" course of passing, are taken into consideration with that. The opportunity to concentrate the sources of heat both in the internal and external covers of the installation is realized. The change of intensity of their action in time is possible, and that allows to reproduce a wide range of the controlling actions. Algorithm for task solution on the electronic computer is developed. The example for calculating the thermal process of concrete heating in winter time is considered. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Comparative analysis of time series model and machine testing systems for crime forecasting

Crime forecasting has been one of the most complex challenges in law enforcement today, especially when an analysis tends to evaluate inferable and expanded crime rates, although a few methodologies for subsequent equivalents have been embraced before. In this work, we use a strategy for a time series model and machine testing systems for crime estimation. The paper centers on determining the quantity of crimes. Considering various experimental analyses, this investigation additionally features results obtained from a neural system that could be a significant alternative to machine learning and ordinary stochastic techniques. In this paper, we applied various techniques to forecast the number of possible crimes in the next 5 years. First, we used the existing machine learning techniques to predict the number of crimes. Second, we proposed two approaches, a modified autoregressive integrated moving average model and a modified artificial neural network model. The prime objective of this work is to compare the applicability of a univariate time series model against that of a variate time series model for crime forecasting. More than two million datasets are trained and tested. After rigorous experimental results and analysis are generated, the paper concludes that using a variate time series model yields better forecasting results than the predicted values from existing techniques. These results show that the proposed method outperforms existing methods.

Smart homes (SHs) and smart buildings (SBs) play a crucial role in addressing global urbanization and are key elements of smart cities (SCs). They utilize integrated systems to process large volumes of data, enabling intelligent responses and improved quality of life. However, the growing number of connected devices and increasing data demands have exceeded the capabilities of existing network technologies, reducing service effectiveness. This article provides a comprehensive survey of emerging technologies, especially those underexplored in SH and SB contexts. It highlights the potential of sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) to transform smart indoor environments through greater automation, intelligence, and adaptability. The authors first analyze the limitations of current IoT-based systems and then examine advanced 6G technologies, including integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), machine learning (ML), visible light communication (VLC), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and blockchain (BC). These technologies aim to resolve issues related to scalability, connectivity, and interoperability that challenge current IoT/5G models. Unlike previous studies focusing on narrow areas such as energy or security, this survey takes a holistic approach. It aligns 6G capabilities with SH/SB needs like human-device interaction, energy efficiency, and robust security, and introduces new applications such as AI-driven digital twins and edge intelligence. The article also identifies research gaps, including resource allocation in diverse networks and ethical AI deployment. It offers guidance for future research and urges collaboration, standardization, and human-centric design to enable next-generation intelligent living environments. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The information technology's new revolution is Internet of Things (IoT), where physical world is connected to the internet. IoT applications are diversified such as smart health, smart industry, smart homes and most importantly smart logistics for perishable items conservation. Although IoT devices have revolutionized world but due to their constrained nature they are at the cost of a greater risk of personal data loss, security breaches and misuse. In this research, a review is presented for proposing two state of the art modules i.e. communication model of smart logistics and security of IoT devices in Smart Logistics. As the smart logistics have perishable items i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat, medicine, chemicals, and cosmetics etc. which are sensitive to temperature, humidity and pressure etc. If the sensors monitoring these items have been handled abnormally due to security attacks, it will give huge loss. Therefore, security of smart logistics is of paramount importance in this research. In order to expedite research in this emergent area of IoT, in this research paper a brief review on progress of IoT in smart logistics, and its security has been presented.

software rejuvenation has been proposed to guarantee safety of cyber-physical systems (CPSs) against cyber-attacks. Recent work has demonstrated how this method can be applied to more general control problems such as tracking control. Despite this progress, there are still limitations in applying software rejuvenation to real situations where the presence of persistent attacks and physical environment constraints exist. In this paper we address these issues and propose a secure recovery algorithm that can be deployed not only for recovery against persistent attacks but also in situations where physical environment constraints do not allow the system to tolerate any attack. The effectiveness of the approach is illustrated with a simulation of a quadrotor landing on the ground during recovery from a persistent attack.
