Knowledge-routed visual question reasoning: Challenges for deep representation embedding

Though beneficial for encouraging the Visual Question Answering (VQA) models to discover the underlying knowledge by exploiting the input-output correlation beyond image and text contexts, the existing knowledge VQA datasets are mostly annotated in a crowdsource way, e.g., collecting questions and external reasons from different users via the internet. In addition to the challenge of knowledge reasoning, how to deal with the annotator bias also remains unsolved, which often leads to superficial over-fitted correlations between questions and answers. To address this issue, we propose a novel dataset named Knowledge-Routed Visual Question Reasoning for VQA model evaluation. Considering that a desirable VQA model should correctly perceive the image context, understand the question, and incorporate its learned knowledge, our proposed dataset aims to cutoff the shortcut learning exploited by the current deep embedding models and push the research boundary of the knowledge-based visual question reasoning. Specifically, we generate the question-answer pair based on both the Visual Genome scene graph and an external knowledge base with controlled programs to disentangle the knowledge from other biases. The programs can select one or two triplets from the scene graph or knowledge base to push multi-step reasoning, avoid answer ambiguity, and balanced the answer distribution. In contrast to the existing VQA datasets, we further imply the following two major constraints on the programs to incorporate knowledge reasoning: i) multiple knowledge triplets can be related to the question, but only one knowledge relates to the image object. This can enforce the VQA model to correctly perceive the image instead of guessing the knowledge based on the given question solely;ii) all questions are based on different knowledge, but the candidate answers are the same for both the training and test sets. Data repairing is a key problem in data cleaning which aims to uncover and rectify data errors. Traditional methods depend on data dependencies to check the existence of errors in data, but they fail to rectify the errors. To overcome this limitation, recent methods define repairing rules on which they depend to detect and fix errors. However, all existing data repairing rules are provided by experts which is an expensive task in time and effort. Besides, rule-based data repairing methods need an external verified data source or user verifications;otherwise they are incomplete where they can repair only a small number of errors. In this paper, we define weighted matching rectifying rules (WMRRs) based on similarity matching to capture more errors. We propose a novel algorithm to discover WMRRs automatically from dirty data in-hand. We also develop an automatic algorithm for rules inconsistency resolution. Additionally, based on WMRRs, we propose an automatic data repairing algorithm (WMRR-DR) which uncovers a large number of errors and rectifies them dependably. We experimentally verify our method on both real-life and synthetic data. The experimental results prove that our method can discover effective WMRRs from the dirty data in-hand, and perform dependable and full-automatic repairing based on the discovered WMRRs, with higher accuracy than the existing dependable methods. Background: Despite major advances in artificial intelligence (AI) research for healthcare, the deployment and adoption of AI technologies remain limited in clinical practice. In recent years, concerns have been raised about the clinical, technical, ethical and legal risks associated with healthcare AI. To increase adoption in the real world, it is essential that AI technologies are trusted and accepted by patients, clinicians, health organisations and authorities. This paper describes the FUTURE-AI framework as the first international consensus guideline for trustworthy AI in healthcare. Methods: The FUTURE-AI consortium was founded in 2021 and now comprises 117 interdisciplinary experts from 50 countries representing all continents, including AI scientists, clinical researchers, biomedical ethicists, and social scientists. Over a two-year period, the consortium established guiding principles and best practices for trustworthy and deployable AI through an iterative process comprising an in-depth literature review, a modified Delphi survey, and online consensus meetings. Findings: The FUTURE-AI framework was established based on six guiding principles for trustworthy AI in healthcare, i.e. Fairness, Universality, Traceability, Usability, Robustness and Explainability. Through consensus, a set of 30 best practices were defined, addressing technical, clinical, socio-ethical and legal dimensions of trustworthy AI. The recommendations cover the entire lifecycle of healthcare AI, from design, development and validation to regulation, deployment, and monitoring. Interpretation: FUTURE-AI is a structured, risk-informed framework which provides guidance for constructing healthcare AI tools that will be trusted, deployed and adopted in real-world clinical practice. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) constitute one of the most promising third-millennium technologies and have wide range of applications in our surrounding environment. The reason behind the vast adoption of WSNs in various applications is that they have tremendously appealing features, e.g., low production cost, low installation cost, unattended network operation, autonomous and longtime operation. WSNs have started to merge with the Internet of Things (IoT) through the introduction of Internet access capability in sensor nodes and sensing ability in Internet-connected devices. Thereby, the IoT is providing access to huge amount of data, collected by the WSNs, over the Internet. However, owing to the absence of a physical line-of-defense, i.e. there is no dedicated infrastructure such as gateways to watch and observe the flowing information in the network, security of WSNs along with IoT is of a big concern to the scientific community. More specifically, for the application areas in which CIA (confidentiality, integrity, availability) has prime importance, WSNs and emerging IoT technology might constitute an open avenue for the attackers. Besides, recent integration and collaboration of WSNs with IoT will open new challenges and problems in terms of security. Hence, this would be a nightmare for the individuals using these systems as well as the security administrators who are managing those networks. Therefore, a detailed review of security attacks towards WSNs and IoT, along with the techniques for prevention, detection, and mitigation of those attacks are provided in this paper. In this text, attacks are categorized and treated into mainly two parts, most or all types of attacks towards WSNs and IoT are investigated under that umbrella: "Passive Attacks" and "Active Attacks". Recover and RELAX: Concern-oriented software architecture recovery for systems development and maintenance

The stakeholders of a system are legitimately interested in whether and how its architecture reflects their respective concerns at each point of its development and maintenance processes. Having such knowledge available at all times would enable them to continually adjust their systems structure at each juncture and reduce the buildup of technical debt that can be hard to reduce once it has persisted over many iterations. Unfortunately, software systems often lack reliable and current documentation about their architecture. In order to remedy this situation, researchers have conceived a number of architectural recovery methods, some of them concern-oriented. However, the design choices forming the bases of most existing recovery methods make it so none of them have a complete set of desirable qualities for the purpose stated above. Tailoring a recovery to a system is either not possible or only through iterative experiments with numeric parameters. Furthermore, limitations in the scalability of the employed recovery algorithms make it prohibitive to apply the existing techniques to large systems. Finally, since several current recovery methods employ non-deterministic sampling, their inconsistent results do not lend themselves well to tracking a systems course over several versions, as needed by its stakeholders. RELAX (RELiable Architecture EXtraction), a new concern-based recovery method that uses text classification, addresses these issues efficiently (1) by assembling the overall recovery result from smaller, independent parts, (2) basing it on an algorithm with linear time complexity and (3) being tailorable to the recovery of a single system or a sequence thereof through the selection of meaningfully named, semantic topics. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are affected by viral infections each year, and yet, several of them neither have vaccines nor effective treatment during and post-infection. This challenge has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, showing how viruses can quickly spread and how they can impact society as a whole. Novel techniques that bring in different disciplines must emerge to provide forward-looking strategies to combat viral infections, as well as possible future pandemics. In the past decade, an interdisciplinary area involving bioengineering, nanotechnology and information and communication technology (ICT) has been developing, known as Molecular Communications. This new emerging area uses elements of classical communication systems, and maps it to molecular signalling and communication found inside and outside the body, where the aim is to develop new tools that can serve future medicine. One of these tools is the ability to characterise the signalling processes between cells and infectious disease locations at various levels of the human body. In this paper, we provide an extensive and detailed discussion on how Molecular Communications can be integrated into the research on viral infectious diseases modelling, and how possible treatment and vaccines can be developed considering molecules as information carriers. We provide a literature review on the existing models of Molecular Communications for viral infection (in-body and out-body), a deep analysis on their effects on the host and subsequent communication process for other systems within the body (e.g., immune response), sources of experimental data on known viral infections and how it can be used by the Molecular Communications community, as well as open issues and future directions. As our reliance on large, complex and ubiquitous software system increases, so does the devastating consequences that a cyberattack can have to modern society. Building secure software systems requires a greater need for secure software engineering approaches that can detect and address security vulnerabilities at the earliest stages of the software development life cycle. This paper presents an approach to facilitate the elicitation of cybersecurity requirements based on enhancing the widely adopted technique of use case modeling by incorporating the use of an ontology. The ontology will model the semantic relationship of cybersecurity requirements. Utilizing this ontology, we propose an approach that can be used to reuse and share cybersecurity requirements, providing a potential for the rapid discovery and correction of software vulnerabilities in the development process. © 2018 IEEE.

The enthusiasm of IT entrepreneurs in producing Internet of Things (IoT) systems is undeniable as currently, the number of connected devices is enormously increasing. Many research has been done to efficiently develop IoT systems. IoT systems are usually engineered from scratch. IoT component models have been introduced but lack of generic development framework or model that supports high reusability and loose coupling in dealing with the heterogeneous devices that can hinder its development. Thus, an IoT component model is proposed. Meta-modelling has been used to define the component model where the specific interaction and composition standard in a component are abstracted. IoT component model is intended to develop a prototype for IoT development. With this IoT prototype, IoT system developers will not need to develop everything from scratch every time, as generic components can be reused even when it is applied in different domains or during system enhancement is required. Smart home IoT system has been selected as a case study to evaluate our prototype tool. In this study, we provide an alternative way to develop IoT software in component-based software engineering method. A prototype has also been developed to assist reusability and reduce coupling between modules.
