The paper is devoted to the change point detection method based on decision-making statistics. The decision-making statistics are constructed on the principle of discrepancy. Under consideration is the problem dealing with quality measures and quality estimating while a priori information about the distribution density of the change moments of the random process properties is absent. Mathematical models have been developed to calculate the average number of delay steps of the change point detection algorithm. The proposed models allow choosing the parameters of the algorithm with the worst-case orientation, it is important for ensuring that the change point detection in real-time systems will be done with a delay not exceeding a given value. © 2021 IEEE.

Mental illness is a considerable global public health problem, impacting both individual well-being and society's health. The growing popularity of social media and the increase of other data sources led to more research interest in detecting mental illness with a particular focus on utilizing and fusing emotional information. Artificial intelligence techniques like natural language processing and others, have shown encouraging improvements in recognizing complex relationships in a wide range of textual data, including clinical notes, social media posts, and interviews. In this paper, we assess the different branches of artificial intelligence based on previous research in mental illness detection, discussing methods, trends, challenges, and future research directions.

The labour market constitutes a pivotal element of the national economy, exerting a profound influence on the health and stability of the broader economic system. In recent years, the role of media journalism in the dissemination of information has increased significantly, with a notable impact on supply-demand and price fluctuations in the labour market. By analysing the impact of media news, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of, and insight into, the dynamics of the labour market. This study employs a combination of machine learning techniques and a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model (DMP model) to assess the influence of media news on labour market efficiency. The use of machine learning algorithms enables the processing and analysis of substantial quantities of media news data, facilitating the extraction of sentiment and topic changes. The DMP model is employed to simulate the matching process in the labour market and evaluate the impact of news on the efficiency of matching job seekers and job openings. The study demonstrates, through experimental analysis, the disparate impacts of media news on the labour market across different economic cycles, and validates the efficacy and practicality of the model.

Remote laboratories have reshaped the way engineering courses provide hands-on experimentation by enabling students to control physical lab equipment via online interfaces. nevertheless, their ease, However, these platforms face challenges such as security vulnerabilities, performance instability, and limited user support. This paper introduces a layered framework that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) into a secure, modular design. Using conventional software engineering techniques, our approach improves cybersecurity through intelligent threat detection, automated resource balancing, and context-aware user interaction. We provide a comprehensive explanation of the framework's architecture, which methodically addresses critical requirements. This includes a proactive cybersecurity apparatus that adapts to emergent threats, as well as real-time device control and data acquisition. Ultimately, this work aims to assist educators and institutions build or modernize remote lab environments that offer robust protection and seamless learning outcomes, even under rapidly shifting demands.

Change point detection methods try to find any sudden changes in the patterns and features of a given time series. In this paper a new change point detection method is presented, where the window width is automatically calculated. The proposed algorithm, AutoSW, is based on a Sliding Window search method of the Python ruptures package and uses a subset of statistical concepts to compute a possibly optimal window width. The proposed algorithm is compared with some other popular methods such as PELT using different real-world and synthetic time series. Results show that AutoSW can perform better than PELT producing a better set of change points in the time series tested. © 2022 IEEE.

In smaller components of industrial or energy automation systems, such as device controllers of Protection and Control (PAC) systems in smart grids, controller functionality is tightly coupled with the physical device or sensor capabilities. At this level, software is small and therefore easy to maintain and test. However, when multiple controllers are interconnected and higher-level functionality is added, software applications grow exponentially, and ensuring maintainability becomes proportionally challenging. In this paper, we extend the IEC 61499 reference architecture used to develop industrial automation software with the principles of Abstraction Layered Architecture (ALA) that has shown up to 400% improvements in industrial software maintainability. We show that even a light application of abstraction layering on the top, application-level of IEC 61499 applications makes them significantly more readable and slightly more maintainable. More concrete gains in maintainability are expected when abstraction layering is integrated into lower layers.

The paper is devoted to developing scientific principles, methods, means, and information technology of model-oriented verification and evidence-based assessment using functional safety and cybersecurity cases for programmable systems of critical applications (PSCA). In particular, information and control systems important for the safety of nuclear power plants (NPPs), aerospace systems, railway domains, etc., developed using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and hardware platforms are reviewed. The goal is to ensure the guaranteed completeness and reliability of its functional safety and cybersecurity assessment by developing and implementing a set of formal and semi-formal methods and tools that consider defects of different nature - physical, design, trojans, and vulnerabilities that can be attacked and lead to a fatal system failure, which results in damaging the critical IT infrastructure. The methods shown are based on integrating algebraic, tabular, graph models, and case assessment methodology. The methods are implemented as appropriate technologies for evidence-based verification and evaluation of PSCA. For formal methods, a prototype of a translator of Very High-Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware Description Language (VHDL) code is developed into an algebra of behaviors. It provides evidence-based verification and a framework and tools to design reports on assessing the cybersecurity and functional safety of programmable systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Making the decision to purchase or invest in real estate can be a very crucial process due to its high financial risk. The purchasing decision of residential real estate properties can be even more decisive because, apart from the financial risk, the choice of a property can have a great impact on the future lifestyle of the buyer. When considering residential real estate, one major factor to be considered is the property location. This research sought to determine the applicability of modern technologies such as location intelligence and machine learning in the development of an e-commerce system that may assist users in making optimal residential real estate location decisions. Third-party web APIs were used to obtain location data, and as a result of the study, methodologies were defined to convert location data into meaningful insights by using statistical methods like weighted sum and the analytical hierarchy process. The functionalities in the proposed system have been designed, considering the roles of both buyers and sellers in the real estate business. In the proposed system, the location quality index framework provides overall insights on the location, the personalized insights and alternative locations are generated via the personal preference-based suitability analyzer and the price prediction system provides the current and future price fluctuations. The usefulness of image processing technologies and machine learning for making the sellers' journey easier on a real estate platform has also been assessed. © 2022 IEEE.

Feature modelling is a cornerstone of software product line engineering, providing a means to represent software variability through features and their relationships. Since its inception in 1990, feature modelling has evolved through various extensions, and after three decades of development, there is a growing consensus on the need for a standardised feature modelling language. Despite multiple endeavours to standardise variability modelling and the creation of various textual languages, researchers and practitioners continue to use their own approaches, impeding effective model sharing. In 2018, a collaborative initiative was launched by a group of researchers to develop a novel textual language for representing feature models. This paper introduces the outcome of this effort: the Universal Variability Language (\UVL), which is designed to be human-readable and serves as a pivot language for diverse software engineering tools. The development of \UVL drew upon community feedback and leveraged established literature in the field of variability modelling. The language is structured into three levels -Boolean, Arithmetic, and Type- and allows for language extensions to introduce additional constructs enhancing its expressiveness. \UVL is integrated into various existing software tools, such as FeatureIDE and FLAMA, and is maintained by a consortium of institutions. © 2024, The Authors. Cuckoo Search (CS) stands as a highly efficient meta-heuristic optimization algorithm. Existing literature showcases the ability of CS in multi-objective scenarios, delineated by the three fundamental rules. However, the first rule of the algorithm incurs the cost of a generation to update a single nest, while the third rule necessitates hit-and-trial methods for parameter adjustment. To address these concerns, a multi-objective cuckoo search algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm builds upon a generalized concept of Lèvy Flight for generating new solutions. Problem-specific, constraint-based strategies for identifying the best nest and dissimilar eggs are also introduced. The algorithm is further applied to solve multispectral remote sensing image thresholding problem. Prior studies have underscored the efficiency of entropy and clustering-based thresholding methods over other techniques. Nevertheless, most entropy-based approaches entail converting color images to grayscale before segmentation, potentially sacrificing crucial spectral information and consequently degrading segmentation algorithm's performance. To avoid these limitations, this research introduces an entropy-based thresholding method to segment a color image without converting it to grayscale. The experiments are carried out using very high resolution (VHR) and coarse resolution (CR) multispectral (MS) images from the satellite sensors Pl'eidas-1B and Sentinel-2b, respectively. The proposed methods undergo validation against four state-of-the-art techniques on benchmark functions and six clustering indexes, respectively. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
