Public bicycle sharing services are becoming popular over the past decade. The behavior of using public bicycle system(PBS) produces numerous hire records involving citizens' movement. This paper presents a visual analytics system-Touching PBSData, to help both traffic administrators and ordinary citizens visually explore and understand PBS data on multi-touch devices. Tasks and design principles are put forward firstly. Four views are designed to show different aspects of the dataset, including the geographical distribution, the spatio-temporal pattern and personal relevant information. In order to enhance the flexibility and usability of system, the organization mode of views and rich user interaction suitable for multi-touch device are further studied. By adopting real PBS dataset, the results of case studies certify that our method is able to help analyzers to find stations' main function and citizens' travel habits. Moreover, the feedback from the participants with various backgrounds is very affirmative through the user study.

There is a growing trend in the number of M&S studies that report on the use of Hybrid simulation. However, the meaning and the usage of the term varies considerably. Indeed, the hybrid simulation panel during last year's conference (WSC2016) laid bare the strong views, from the panelists and audience alike, as to what constitutes a hybrid model and what is new? The ensuing debate set the scene for this year's paper, in which we discuss the various perspectives on hybrid simulation by focusing on three aspects: its definition, its purpose and its benefits. We hope this paper will pave the way for further studies on this subject, with the objective of achieving a convergence of the definition of hybrid simulation.

Many migration strategies have been proposed forPrisoner's Dilemma game on square lattice, such as randommigration, success-driven migration and adaptive migration. Inthis paper, we introduce three novel migration strategies: failure driven migration, hate-driven migration and global-scope migration. Based on the length of migration, individual with one of the first two strategies decides when and where to move into empty nearby places based on its performance in current site, while individual with a global-scope migration can move to anywhere. Then we compare them with the cases of no migration, random migration and success-driven migration. The simulations show that the failure-driven migration has the best performance in most circumstances. While defectors dominate in success-driven migration cases.

Face photo-sketch synthesis aims at generating a facial sketch/photo conditioned on a given photo/sketch. It is of wide applications including digital entertainment and law enforcement. Precisely depicting face photos/sketches remains challenging due to the restrictions on structural realism and textural consistency. While existing methods achieve compelling results, they mostly yield blurred effects and great deformation over various facial components, leading to the unrealistic feeling of synthesized images. To tackle this challenge, in this work, we propose to use the facial composition information to help the synthesis of face sketch/photo. Specially, we propose a novel composition-aided generative adversarial network (CA-GAN) for face photo-sketch synthesis. In CA-GAN, we utilize paired inputs including a face photo/sketch and the corresponding pixel-wise face labels for generating a sketch/photo. In addition, to focus training on hard-generated components and delicate facial structures, we propose a compositional reconstruction loss. Finally, we use stacked CA-GANs (SCA-GAN) to further rectify defects and add compelling details. Experimental results show that our method is capable of generating both visually comfortable and identity-preserving face sketches/photos over a wide range of challenging data. Our method achieves the state-of-the-art quality, reducing best previous Fréchet Inception distance (FID) by a large margin. The view growth pattern of user generated videos on YouTube

With the rapid development of social media, video sharing sites like YouTube are getting more and more attention. Discovering the view growth pattern have become interesting topics for researchers as well as advertisers, media companies. In this paper, we analyze two aspects about video view growth pattern of YouTube videos. Firstly, the pattern of aggregated view is studied. It is found that the aggregated view rate peaks in the first few days, and falls quickly in the following days, and then decrease slowly during the consecutive weeks. Finally, the view rate tends to be a constant on the long run. The aggregated view count after a period of two months can be fitted with a linear line. Secondly, the view growth pattern of individual video is explored. The results indicate that the majority of videos peak at the very beginning of videos’ lifetime, and the category of view sources causes the peak is different. The view count of individual video and the view count from each source item also stabilize after a period of two months, and we finally show the referring time and active period of each source item. © 2016 SERSC.

Due to the open and shared nature, wireless communication systems are vulnerable to jamming attacks. Beamforming is a promising technique to counteract the impact of jamming attacks. However, when the location of the desired signal is close to that of the jamming signal, the performance of the traditional anti-jamming beamformer that uses isotropic antenna elements is significantly degraded due to the indistinguishable signals and interferences in the space domain. In this paper, an enhanced countermeasure method for jamming attacks has been proposed by using the polarized beamforming with a planar array. By integrating both polarization and space information, the proposed beamformer is able to suppress the interference that is close to the desired signal. The beamformer is designed using the Linearly Constrained Minimum Variance (LCMV) criterion. The analytical expression of the steering vectors is derived for far-field propagation. The Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the proposed jamming defense system is examined. simulation results show a significant performance improvement of the proposed anti-jamming system even when the desired signals and interferences are coming from the same direction.

A distributed network of sensors leverages its performance by aggregating information gathered by individual sensors through the process of sensor data fusion. Estimating parameters using a centralized scheme entails transporting data from multiple sensors to a centralized fusion center, leading to high network bandwidth consumption. Additionally, fusing raw sensor data from sensors with different sensing modalities may not be feasible. We propose an alternative approach in which each sensor first individually estimates the unknown parameters based solely on its own sensor data. Since sensors may not have a-priori knowledge of the probability distribution of the unknown parameters, each sensor independently computes its individual maximum likelihood estimates. Individual estimates along with their sufficient statistics are then communicated to the fusion center, which treats these estimates as observations to compute the optimum aggregated maximum likelihood estimates by maximizing the new likelihood function of these observations. The proposed technique offers two significant advantages: (i) Since each sensor computes its individual estimates based solely on its own sensed data, it is easily applicable to sensor networks having multi-modal sensors, and (ii) As compared to raw sensor data, communicating estimates and their sufficient statistics to the fusion center requires substantially less network bandwidth. Performance of the aggregated estimates is evaluated through simulations and by computing the Cramer-Rao lower bound.

A new generation memory, Non-Volatile Memory (NVM), such as Phase-Change Memory (PCM), has been adopted together with DRAM in the main memory to form the hybrid main memory for low energy consumption and high capacity. The biggest challenge of hybrid memory is how to decrease the average memory access cost for the higher cost of NVM's read/write operation. Currently, most researches are based on migration. However, the page migration itself is a high cost operation. And the migration based policy produces many migration operations, which induces high cost in memory access. Therefore, in order to decrease the cost, we present a virtual page behavior based page management policy (VBPM) in this paper. According to the virtual pages' behavior, we allocate virtual pages into DRAM or PCM physical pages correspondingly. The whole process is migration independent. The experimental results show our VBPM decreases the average memory access time by 24%, moreover, VBPM improves real-time performance in critical path. © 2016 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a general framework for constructing IGA-suitable planar B-spline parameterizations from given complex CAD boundaries consisting of a set of B-spline curves. Instead of forming the computational domain by a simple boundary, planar domains with high genus and more complex boundary curves are considered. Firstly, some pre-processing operations including Bézier extraction and subdivision are performed on each boundary curve in order to generate a high-quality planar parameterization;then a robust planar domain partition framework is proposed to construct high-quality patch-meshing results with few singularities from the discrete boundary formed by connecting the end points of the resulting boundary segments. After the topology information generation of quadrilateral decomposition, the optimal placement of interior Bézier curves corresponding to the interior edges of the quadrangulation is constructed by a global optimization method to achieve a patch-partition with high quality. Finally, after the imposition of C1/G1-continuity constraints on the interface of neighboring Bézier patches with respect to each quad in the quadrangulation, the high-quality Bézier patch parameterization is obtained by a C1constrained local optimization method to achieve uniform and orthogonal iso-parametric structures while keeping the continuity conditions between patches. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed method are demonstrated by several examples which are compared to results obtained by the skeleton-based parameterization approach. The buoyant Marangoni convection heat transfer in a differentially heated cavity is numerically studied. The cavity is filled with water-Ag, water-Cu, water-Al2O3, and water-TiO2 nanofiuids. The governing equations are based on the equations involving the stream function, vorticity, and temperature. The dimensionless forms of the governing equations are solved by the finite difference （FD） scheme consisting of the alternating direction implicit （ADI） method and the tri-diagonal matrix algorithm （TDMA）. It is found that the increase in the nanoparticle concentration leads to the decrease in the flow rates in the secondary cells when the convective thermocapillary and the buoyancy force have similar strength. A critical Marangoni number exists, below which increasing the Marangoni number decreases the average Nusselt number, and above which increasing the Marangoni number increases the average Nusselt number. The nanoparticles play a crucial role in the critical Marangoni number.
