Technology is all about helping people, which created a new opportunity to take serious action in managing their health care. Moreover, Obesity continues to be a serious public health concern in the Malaysia and continuing to rise. Obesity has been a serious health concern among people. Nearly half of Malaysian people overweight. Most of dietary approach is not tracking and detecting the right calorie intake for weight loss, but currently used tools such as food diaries require users to manually record and track the food calories, making them difficult for daily use. We will be developing a new tool that counts the food intake bite by monitoring hand gesture and face jaw motion movement of caloric intake. The Bite count method showed a good significant that can lead to a successful weight loss by simply monitoring the bite taken during eating. The device used was Kinect Xbox One which used a depth camera to detect the motion on person hand and face during food intake. Previous studies showed that most of the method used to count bite device is worn type. The recent trend is now going towards non-wearable devices due to the difficulty when wearing devices and it has high false alarm ratio. The proposed system gets data from the Kinect that will be monitoring the hand and face gesture of the user while eating. Then, the gesture of hand and face data is sent to the microcontroller board to recognize and start counting bite taken by the user. The system recognizes the patterns of bite taken from user by following the algorithm of basic eating type either using hand or chopstick. This system can help people who are trying to follow a proper way to reduce overweight or eating disorders by monitoring their meal intake and controlling eating rate.

Background: Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) provides an emerging surgical technique which usually needs a long learning curve for surgeons. Virtual reality (VR) medical simulators with vision and haptic feedback can usually offer an efficient and cost-effective alternative without risk to the traditional training approaches. Under this motivation, we developed the first virtual reality simulator for transvaginal cholecystectomy in NOTES (VTEST™). Methods: This VR-based surgical simulator aims to simulate the hybrid NOTES of cholecystectomy. We use a 6DOF haptic device and a tracking sensor to construct the core hardware component of simulator. For software, an innovative approach based on the inner-spheres is presented to deform the organs in real time. To handle the frequent collision between soft tissue and surgical instruments, an adaptive collision detection method based on GPU is designed and implemented. To give a realistic visual performance of gallbladder fat tissue removal by cautery hook, a multi-layer hexahedral model is presented to simulate the electric dissection of fat tissue. Results: From the experimental results, trainees can operate in real time with high degree of stability and fidelity. A preliminary study was also performed to evaluate the realism and the usefulness of this hybrid NOTES simulator. Conclusions: This prototyped simulation system has been verified by surgeons through a pilot study. Some items of its visual performance and the utility were rated fairly high by the participants during testing. It exhibits the potential to improve the surgical skills of trainee and effectively shorten their learning curve. © 2016 Elsevier Inc.

For the problem of compute nodes load unbalance leads to the overload node impact VM performance and the underload node waste electrical energy. Dynamic VM consolidation is an efficient approach for improving the utilization of servers and reducing energy costs. In this paper, we introduce dynamic consolidation into OpenStack and implement AMVM based on OpenStack. AMVM collect and analyze all performance data of VM and compute node in OpenStack. Then AMVM automatically schedules VM live migrate to the most appropriate node according to the real-time load of all compute nodes. Then we use hybrid-copy instead of pre-copy in AMVM to improve the efficiency of VM live migration. Finally, we analyze the performance of hybrid-copy, hybrid-copy can reduce page faults compared with post-copy and reduce total data transferred compared with pre-copy. © 2016 SERSC.

In most of the traffic safety studies, both the identification of high-risk locations and the assessment of safety improvement solutions are done through the use of historical crash data. This study proposes an alternative approach that makes use of traffic conflicts extracted from traffic video recordings for safety assessment. State-of-the-art computer vision techniques are used to extract vehicle trajectories automatically from 70 hours of traffic video data at two intersections. More specifically, a modified implementation of the Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) feature tracker is used to extract the feature points and track those feature points frame by frame. The spectral embedding and the Dirichlet process Gaussian mixture model (DPGMM) are employed to cluster feature points that belong to the same object. The combination of each vehicle's individual trajectory with all the others' trajectories is then screened to identify all the possible vehicle pairs involved in conflict risk. Traffic conflict risks are identified after the time to collision (TTC) is computed for each vehicle pair. Hourly number of conflicts are found to follow a negative binomial distribution similar to number of crashes. A strong correlation is observed between the traffic conflicts and actual crashes, and thus the validity of using conflict data extracted from videos for safety assessment can be confirmed. The proposed approach has potential transferability and can be implemented by transportation agencies in other cities.

Indicators of medical quality is the main basis of medical quality evaluation, predictive analyzing the indicators by using data mining technology, we can find and solve the problems of hospital quality management more timely. The study, basing on the medical homepage records, analyzes the key indicators of the hospital medical quality by decision tree C4.5 algorithm. Decision tree is a prediction model which can assist hospital to make related decision on medical quality management issues. By using decision tree C4.5 algorithm with appropriate modification, a high quality model of decision tree can be made. It can not only do the statistic of medical quality indicators, but also predict the indicators with high relative accuracy to improve hospital’s medical quality management.

The most common approach for border patrol operations is the use of human personnel and manned ground vehicles, which is expensive, at times inefficient and sometimes even hazardous to people involved. A better approach would be using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in combination with such ground sensors. This would help improve the overall effectiveness of the surveillance system as a UAV could first scan the alert area before sending in personnel and vehicles, if deemed necessary. We propose border surveillance using multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in combination with alert stations consisting of Unattended Ground Sensors (UGSs) along the border line/fence. Upon detecting an event, an alert would be triggered by any UGS. We simulate this process by reading probability data for different timestamps from a text file. And, based on utility values of each station, two UAVs decide on which alert station to service.

Bridges, constructed to help facilitate travel by connecting two places separated by an obstacle, are the products of meticulous planning, development, and civil engineering. Before they are constructed, bridges are modeled and tested for structural efficiency. In this experiment, we utilized the West Point Bridge Designer 2014 software to create educational 2D models for researching the most cost-efficient designs for specific scenarios. These designs were created by applying basic structural engineering knowledge and by learning through experimentation how the software calculates cost and structural stability. The purpose of this research paper is to demonstrate, analyze, and use these optimized computer-simulated bridges to provide a better understanding of how bridges react in real life to forces and to create models for cost-effective bridge construction. With rapid development of minimally invasive surgery, proficiency with intricate skills is becoming a greater concern. Consequently, the use of out-of-operating room training has increased significantly through employing high-fidelity and anatomically-correct graphics and haptic interfaces in virtual reality simulations. The effort in developing surgical simulators for generic minimally invasive procedures is still, however, suboptimal for many haptic implementations. A main aspect of such simulations is the pivoting behavior of the surgical tool realized using the haptic device. This paper investigates the limitation of a fullyvirtual implementation of the pivot and the ability to augment haptic interfaces to achieve a natural representation of forces. The design and implementation of two surgical tool pivoting techniques are introduced. Furthermore, a phantom is constructed from synthesized components to be used to measure and reproduce realistic mechanical properties of the anatomical model and pivot behavior. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Previous researches have well demonstrated the importance of costly punishment for promoting the evolution of cooperation, while it remains unconsidered sides about the punishment. Recent evidences highlight that punishment cannot promote cooperation when punishment can be targeted at cooperators. In this paper, we study the evolutionary process of cooperation in the well-mixed population when the presence of antisocial punishment. Here cooperator can optionally adopt an insurance strategy which incurs an extra cost to resist the threat of antisocial punishment, and she will obtain compensation when being punished by antisocial punisher in the future. With this strategy, cooperators can opportunistically adjust their behavior, which makes cooperators evolve advantageously, and improve individuals' average payoff in population.
