This paper introduces XMeta-OS, a meta-operating system specially designed with Linux as its foundation to unify and optimize resource management for the distributed edge-cloud when dynamic use of GPU resources is possible. This approach offer a new GPU abstraction layer and dynamic edge-cloud allocation model that offer enhanced flexibility and resource utilization over existing systems like Kubernetes and OpenStack. By using likely sensitive data, the model applied cloud-pushed deployment model. XMeta-OS manages computer resources in real-time. Therefore, fulfilling high performance various needs. It allocates CPU and GPU in real-time to workloads requiring massive parallel processing, such as machine learning, scientific simulations, real-time data analytics, and transportation tasks. Fabrication in the laboratory of an edge-cloud environment can help to assess the scalability, fault tolerance and efficiency of the system. It showcases the overall architectural design of XMeta-OS. Changes to the kernel and security solutions for safe and effective distribution are suggested. This article presents the design of the XMeta-OS. The future of XMeta-OS entails usage and testing with which we see latency, energy, computation and other such measurements in labs. XMeta-OS is a solution to cost performance, emerging application, large-scale edge-cloud deployments, and distributed GPU-enabled infrastructures. Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) is an innovative paradigm expected to enable various consumer applications that is transforming our lives. While enjoying benefits and services from these applications, we also face serious security issues due to malicious cyber attacks on the massive growth of AIoT consumer devices. Accurate anomaly detection is one of the critical tasks for the trustworthy AIoT removing those obstacles. However, limited by the vector-based data pattern and ill-considered factors for anomalous samples analysis, existing methods suffer from the low detection performance. In this paper, a multi-scale correlation tensor convolutional Gaussian mixture network (named as MTCGM) is presented for ameliorating this actuality. Specifically, MTCGM suggests to construct the multi-scale correlation tensor by stacking one self-correlation matrix and multiple surrounding-correlations of different scales, which well characterizes the network status of AIoT. Subsequently, a 3D-convolutional autoencoder (3DCA) is designed for capturing inter-feature correlations, and followed with a Gaussian mixture probability (GMP) network for the observations likelihood estimation. Moreover, low-dimensional space features, relative Euclidean distance and tensor cosine similarity (TCS) are adopted in MTCGM as the multi-factor to boost the likelihood estimation. Extensive experiments on public benchmark datasets verify the validity of MTCGM, and demonstrate its superiority over the state-of-the-art baselines even in presence of contaminated training samples and input noise. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

This study investigates the global consensus problem of mixed-order multi-agent systems. Firstly, a control strategy based on switching functions is proposed to ensure the effective operation of fuzzy control in the fuzzy region. Secondly, the differential equation model satisfying the global Lipschitz condition is extended, and a more universal model framework is constructed. Furthermore, online learning laws with time-varying σ-modifications are introduced to effectively guarantee the global asymptotic convergence of the closed-loop multi-agent systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through designed simulation experiments.

The present work strives to investigate the effect of using dimensionality reduction techniques (DRTs) on breast cancer (BC) classification problem. Primarily, we focused on the following five (DRTs): Auto-Encoders (AE), T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (T- SNE), Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE), Isometric Feature Mapping (Isomap), and Principle Component analysis (PCA). These methods are combined with two famous classifiers that are Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Multilayer perceptron (MLP). They are used for BC classification. Breast Cancer Wisconsin Diagnostic (WDBC) data set was used to validate the experiments of this work. The former was provided by the University of California, Irvine (UCI) machine learning repository. The results demonstrated that combining MLP with the chosen (DRTs) methods increased the classification accuracy for almost all built models by at least 0.7%. In addition, they revealed a decrease in the classification accuracy using SVM as a classifier for almost all built models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Heuristic algorithms have been developed to find approximate solutions for high-utility itemset mining (HUIM) problems that compensate for the performance bottlenecks of exact algorithms. However, heuristic algorithms still face the problem of long runtime and insufficient mining quality, especially for large transaction datasets with thousands to tens of thousands of items and up to millions of transactions. To solve these problems, a novel GPU-based efficient parallel heuristic algorithm for HUIM (PHA-HUIM) is proposed in this paper. The iterative process of PHA-HUIM consists of three main steps: the search strategy, fitness evaluation, and ring topology communication. The search strategy and ring topology communication are designed to run in constant time on GPU. The parallelism of fitness evolution helps to substantially accelerate the algorithm. To improve the mining quality, a multi-start strategy with an unbalanced allocation strategy is employed in the search process. Ring topology communication is adopted to maintain population diversity. A load balancing strategy is introduced to reduce the thread divergence to improve the parallel efficiency. The experimental results on nine large datasets show that PHA-HUIM outperforms state-of-the-art HUIM algorithms in terms of speedup performance, runtime, and mining quality.

As an important component of the space-air-ground integrated network, aerial base station (AeBS) systems have gained significant attention for their flexibility in mobility and cost-effective construction. Nevertheless, the scarce spectrum resources and difficulty in accessing global information bring necessity and challenges to the deployment and resource allocation of AeBSs. In this paper, we propose a practical two-timescale framework to solve the resource allocation and deployment optimization problem in multi-AeBS networks. Specifically, the subcarrier allocation problem is first transformed into a many-to-one matching game coupled with power allocation and solved in a small timescale. Then, in a large timescale, the AeBS deployment subproblem is transformed into a distributed partially observable Markov decision process (Dec-POMDP), and then a novel multi-agent hypergraph convolutional deep reinforcement learning (MAHGCDRL) is proposed to solve this problem. The proposed MAHGCDRL extracts features of neighboring AeBSs through hypergraph convolutional networks, enabling AeBS agents to achieve better coordination in a distributed manner. Simulation results show that our proposed approach can attain a higher sum rate, and the proposed MAHGCDRL algorithm achieves better learning performance compared to the existing benchmarks in the literature. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

The rapid but uneven education development worldwide is creating many challenges. Changing conditions and rules in engineering fields such as programming, automation, and electronics are not always followed by changes in education. Employers expect potential candidates to be current with the latest domain competencies and soft skills. The idea is to hire candidates with both knowledge (theoretical and practical) and experience in reflection and collaboration skills. Universities can not always keep up with the development of technology and the adaptation of curricula because change happens so quickly. Therefore, upgrades are needed in engineering education. Focusing education solely on measurable knowledge and results is a simple but often insufficient approach to presenting the entire curriculum within the time frame of a course. Our study of about 150 engineering students in Poland and Norway included the role of students' experiences in hands-on activities, especially labs. The research aimed to determine what students expect, what influences their results, and what complications may arise. The study results show that students often struggle with time management, prioritizing, and understanding practical tasks. In addition, there is a difference between students with and without practical work experience. Our research showed that both groups of students did not achieve all their intended educational goals for various reasons. Therefore, adapting the current teaching system to the student's needs and requirements is important. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated Learning enables collaboratively model training among a number of distributed devices with the coordination of a centralized server, where each device alternatively performs local gradient computation and communication to the server. FL suffers from significant performance degradation due to the excessive communication delay between the server and devices, especially when the network bandwidth of these devices is limited, which is common in edge environments. Existing methods overlap the gradient computation and communication to hide the communication latency to accelerate the FL training. However, the overlapping can also lead to an inevitable gap between the local model in each device and the global model in the server that seriously restricts the convergence rate of learning process. To address this problem, we propose a new overlapping method for FL, AOCC-FL, which aligns the local model with the global model via calibrated compensation such that the communication delay can be hidden without deteriorating the convergence performance. Theoretically, we prove that AOCC-FL admits the same convergence rate as the non-overlapping method. On both simulated and testbed experiments, we show that AOCC-FL achieves a comparable convergence rate relative to the non-overlapping method while outperforming the state-of-the-art overlapping methods. © 2023 IEEE.

technology has influenced the hospitality industry, and the Internet of Things (IoT) has become a focus for sustainability, revenue growth, and problem-solving. This systematic review examined the opportunities and challenges of implementing IoT technology for a sustainable hospitality. Through a thorough analysis of 28 studies, we found that IoT technology has great potential to address sustainability issues in the hospitality industry. However, there are still significant challenges that need to be addressed for the successful implementation of IoT technology in the hospitality industry. Overall, this study highlights the potential of IoT technology to revolutionize the hospitality industry and make it more sustainable. Further research is needed to address the challenges of IoT implementation in the hospitality industry and to evaluate the effectiveness of IoT technology in achieving sustainability goals. © 2023 IEEE.
